Sir.....a year ago, on my 09 Nissan Versa, the #3 cylinder went out. Mechanics charged me over $500 to replace that single coil, change out all the spark plugs & gasket. Over a week ago, my car was starting to "cough" while I was stopped...and also during initial acceleration........O'Reillys Auto Parts said, after running the codes, the #4 cylinder was misfiring..... I thought...."am I going to have to pay this much again????"....came across your video. Thank you so much for posting this, you saved me so much $$$$$......
Four new plugs, plus an intake manifold gasket, plus manifold and carb cleaning, oil change and a horn wiring fix for just under $300. The high price would more than likely be at a chain auto repair and not a local guy.
The Versa is a pain in the ass to work on. The only things that are easy are the filter swaps and the coolant drain and refill. Other than that the car is super difficult to work for most things.
I know this is an old video but it was super helpful to me last week when doing this to my wife's 2010 versa when Firestone said it was 1 misfire because of a bad coil pack and they recommended replacing all 4 coils packs and all 4 spark plugs at the same time and told me it'd be $1600. I bought the parts online for $200+tax and shipping and I replaced them myself in about 3hrs.

I saw few videos about same issue , but yours was the best of them, I agree with you 100% , for the stupid designe from Nissan , normally changing the coil & spark plugs take 20-30 min max in 4 cylinders car
You hit it right in the head! $500 paid at Sears to replace my #4 spark coil on my Versa. I could have done it, but a lack of tool organization and a bit of fear of messing up the airflow system got me to hand the job over to a mechanic that did it in 30 to 45 mins. If the other coils mess up, I'll dig in and replace them all and the plugs. Good video though. I'll save it. Overall, the Versa has been great. This time I already master removing the intake manifold and didn't hesitate replacing the spark plugs and the rest of the old coils. Lesson learned., don't save money haha. My car now is running fine.

I buy one before but it didn’t work on my car so I want to get nether one am asking if u could give me the details on that one you got
another thing could cause a miss fire is a bad rubber hose or crack in the plastic intake if your remove the intake put white grease on the intake gasket and on the throttle body gasket or o ring so it don't suck air also look for corrosion on the coil will cause miss fire or the coil or plug can be bad
Gaskets are made on to the manifold. They self form. As far as the throttle body, not unless you decided to shit on your computer just for the fuck of sakes.
What kind of ODB reader do you use? Do you recommend it or something else? How many miles on that car? Should you have changed the intake manifold gasket and/or throttle body gasket? I have a 2014 Versa with 94,000 miles and I'm getting a P0301 code. I picked up some plugs but coils were over 100.00 each and I didn't want to buy 4 if I might only need 1. Another UA-cam video regarding P0301 error codes showed pitting due to arcing at the base of the coil where it meets the spark plug so I'll look for that. Anyway, thanks for the helpful and entertaining video! Cheers!

Do you by chance know how to reset the oil service light? I did an oil change on a friend's car, he lost the manual a we don't know how to reset the service light. Thank you
I know these things dont like a throttle body clean it brings the idle up way to high.. everytime i service them i have to get the scan tool ready for air volume relearn

Any advice for installing the intake manifold? I cant get it to sit flat on the heads and align with the top right bolt that goes under the throttle body, right now it's one or the other that's aligned. Very strange and maybe I'm overthinking this step

Which one is cylinder 3? If Im looking from the front of the car is #3 the 3rd from the left or 3rd from the right?
I don't remember
Nice troubleshooting! What do you use for a gap tool? I have the silver coin thing, but I've heard they aren't very accurate, at least less so than other gap tools...
I use one of these: amzn.to/2CmpwdP
Why year is this Versa? Great job on the fix
I can't remember, this was filmed a few years ago
What diagnostic tool were you using?
Good day am just watching your video how to remove the Manifold off my Nissan Serena 07
I see u using Diagnostic machine I want to know which brand is that Cause I want to get one.
Good to know
You need to trouble shoot which coil was bad and should tell the viewers the firing order! Changing the whole set is easy!
Did you replace any gaskets? Also does the The throttle body have to be reprogrammed ? thanks in advance and great video man.
Just subscribed!
No and only if you pull the battery
@@normalguysupercar sweet thank man . Appreciate the fast reply .
Gaskets are made on to the manifold. They self form. As far as the throttle body, not unless you decided to shit on your computer just for the fuck of sakes.
Question , what kind of obd reader are you using ? What’s the name of the brand ?
Here it is: amzn.to/2RRsUSY
Cheers!
It's just a simple bluetooth adapter that connects to my phone. amzn.to/2W06Bzm
Did you have to change the ignition coils for all 4 cylinders or just for cylinder 4
Just 4.
Great Stuff man !
I have a Renault Fluence / Samsung SM3, and they have the same horrible and impractical design
Clearly the engineers aren't mechanics
hey man, great video.can you tell me what brand of sensors that you used is it safe to use a diffrent brand other than what was in it prior?
I don't recall which brand they were, but I bought them at advanced auto.
@@normalguysupercar well auto zone has a 4 pack of duralast for 198.00 and advanced has them for like 69 a piece.so the 4 pack seems the better deal.just cautious of using something other than what came factory wnen it comes to these things
do you need to replace the intake manifold gasket ?
Sometimes
I hate my nissan versa, can't wait to fix it and sell it. It has given me nothing but trouble and the design is a nightmare.
Please tell me you got an extension to the no complaints about the Ferrari time for doing this?
No I just did this one, I figured the 458 deal was good enough not to push it. Lol.
Nice!! Is that the actual order for removal or could you do it vice "Versa"? More beer!!
Aww man that was just bad.
Great video! I had misfire 1 issue(randomly, not a constant misfire) and changed the coil pack and spark plugs. Unfortunately still have misfire once in a while and turns on the engine code. When I am waiting on red light and car on drive, it hesitates to kick to the front side once every 8-10 seconds. My mechanic did not able to find anything since it is not constant. Don’t know what to do!
I did the same exact thing but I now I have no acceleration power
Nice
Do you by chance know how to reset the oil service light? I did an oil change on a friend's car, he lost the manual a we don't know how to reset the service light. Thank you
Not off the top of my head. You can use a computer like a launch x431
@@normalguysupercar thank you
How did the aftermarket coils hold up? Usually its OEM or nothing
I don't know, she sold the car after a few years
Awesome work. what app are you using?
amzn.to/2Omamv4
I know these things dont like a throttle body clean it brings the idle up way to high.. everytime i service them i have to get the scan tool ready for air volume relearn
Ah good tip
What kind of obd2 scanner is this?
All the coil packs went out? Dayummm! Do you mind if I ask what you paid for them?
I don't remember, this was years ago
Isn't there a torque spec for putting these plugs in? I was expecting a torque wrench when you were screwing them in
Yes but I don't know what it is
@@normalguysupercar I actually found the manual and looked it up. If anybody else needs it for reference, it is 14 ft-lb. The torque spec for little bolt that holds down the coilpack is 64 in-lb. Please note the difference between FEET-lb and INCH-lb. I would hate to see anyone breaking their ignition coli's head
Make darn sure the throttle body gasket is good and still in place or your car wont run and wont kick out any fault codes.....after you put it back together
Yup
@Normal Guy Supercar what is the app
Im about to do mine. Plugs and coils. Was told to replace the manifold gasket when I'm doing it. All the videos I've seen no one does that. Any idea?
It's not a bad idea to replace the gasket
You should replace these gaskets. Do your valve cover gaskets and replace your PCV as well. I just did my NV200 and the rubber was completely dry.
Did you replace the gasket or not?
Which brand of parts did you use?.thank you
I don't recall this was years ago
. I've done a vid on this too and it's such a pain. You did a great job by the way.
Thank you and yes, it's a PITA.
I'm gonna try drinking some beer before working on the versa hopefully I get it fixed.
It'll help numb the pain. LOL!
I replaced all 4 spark plugs and the ignition coil for the cylinder that it said it was misfiring on but I’m still misfiring, what do you think I should try next?
Could be fuel injector
Where did you get the coils from ?
You are so not a professional but very entertaining LOL love you video
Any advice for installing the intake manifold? I cant get it to sit flat on the heads and align with the top right bolt that goes under the throttle body, right now it's one or the other that's aligned. Very strange and maybe I'm overthinking this step
Hmm I didn't have any trouble with that part
I have a question why Do I keep getting motor oil in my spark plugs. I just got a new gasket and its new so I dont know why im still getting oil on the plugs any ideas on what it could be?
Eek that's possibly a leaking valve cover gasket or bad seal on the spark plug
What torque for intake manifold?
I don't know
Suppose you had install a new defective plug or coil then you have to take everything apart again that will piss you off ....It do happens cause we had new coils install in E 350 ford and 2 were bad plugs can be defective as well we had to change them also in another vehicle.
Uuuugh
my 2014 versa giving bad smell from the buffler and smoke whenever i rev it
That's not good
Just a quickie!, are you going to the F1 GP at COTA this weekend, 🍺🇬🇧🇺🇸
Yup!
