No one..repeat no one makes better or more informative videos than Jeremy See. So much respect for the outstanding work and reviews you do sir. if you were in the UK you would surely be knighted! All the best JS !Another vital watch for Genos fans.
Yamaha also hiked up all of their prices in the US market so the Genos used to be $5,400 now the upgraded price is now a whopping $6000 They also upgraded the prices of the PSR-SX line and all of their lines because of the US tariffs I’m so lucky that I got my Yamaha Genos at the beginning and all of my other newer Yamaha keyboards
Thanks Jeremy, you bring up good points, and really, rather damning ones. With the huge technological background the company has, why are Yamaha always in a position of catch-up rather than leading - especially at the very high price for Genos? Memory is cheap and compact - in principle they could have a TB on board without needing to increase price! Genos has a market with older, often retired and financially comfortable users, and will probably keep them. But for many, including emerging potential Genos customers, the SX900 offers very much better value for money. And while Korg offer even better value for money, and with greater capabilities and similar voice/style quality, the fact that many find the Yamaha easier to learn and have no need of the pro capabilities offered by instruments like the Pa1000, makes me wonder if the sx900 is going to eat into the Genos market in addition to its own already established market for the product line.
You are indeed right, Bryan. Yamaha is a victim of their own success. There is no doubt that SX900 will cannibalise Genos sales. If it hasn't already. 😉
"Genos has a market with older, often retired and financially comfortable users, and will probably keep them": VERY TRUE. I am one of them. I have no intention to buy a newer model to replace the Genos.
Since memory is so cheap, I believe that the memory is most likely already there, just that the software is not addressing the memory space. My bet is that there is already at least 4Gb on board.
Wonder where this response to customer feedback was with the Tyros 5 firmware? At least the Mutec FMC-07 allowed 2GB of expansion memory in that unit. The PSRs series always had sounds and styles not found in the flagship, which I felt was a slight to anyone who shelled out 3 times the money. My Tyros 5 experience soured me on Yamaha forever... okay, maybe not forever, but i will not buy another of their arrangers. Korg PA4X all the way.
I found out after trying for 30 days this year in December 2021, that the keyboard had many styles that I was not familiar with and not ever going to use so it is very expensive for a lot of nonsense. Canada is not used to UK voices. We have totally different styles. Even the Oldies and the Entertainer all pretty much unusable and I have a large repertoire . Thanks for the video.
Hey Jeremy. Would you say the sx900 so close to the genos is not worth to expend all that money, especially if one is not a professional keyboard player?
Jeremy. First,When do you think the genos 2 will be on the market,if they release the genos v2.0? Second,If I buy the new clavinova cvp809,will I have all the genos v2.0 features? Third, when will the korg pa5x,and the yamaha dgx 670,be available on the market?
have a nice day I updated Genos to v2 but I have new sounds there, not even the style it is to deceive a customer I didn't expect from Yamaha. Why do I promise when they don't.
Hey Jeremy.. This is Ermias from Seattle, US. Thank you so much for all the videos you make they're really useful and informative. This week I was planning to buy the Yamaha genos. But, recently, in two of your you tube videos I heard you saying there are some sounds or styles missing from the genos but include in the psr sx900. I feel bad.I thought the genos is superior in every thing. Do you think it's not worth buying the genos then? Should I I go for the sx900? Please give me some suggestion for it'll help me decide which one to go for. BTW ,I am not professional keyboard player. Just for personal home entertainment. Thank you so much in advance
Hi Jeremy 👋😊, I'm from India 🇮🇳 I'm a MBA student......i have completed just 6 classes in keyboard.....So, this week I'm going to buy a beginner keyboard. In India most of the people say Casio....but I want ur opinion about the learner keyboard!!!!! I have watched most of ur videos....in ur videos u were talking amount Yamaha PSR E363 and E463 and Casio CTX 700 and CTX 800.......I watched all of that videos about these models, still I have some confusions......can you plz help me on this????? if you say one keyboard, without any questions I will buy that......price is not a thing for me.....plz help me sir....
"Style creatod UI improvement".. unfortunately it sounds like nothing is done to the editor itself. There are SO many things that could be done, but the style editor has been the same since Tyros 2 except for the guitar-chord add some years ago.
Yamaha's Style concept/structure is very poor. Because Yamaha's Style is made by 8 + 8 hidden channels, is very limited on making chord variations on it. Korg's style is much more powerful, because it is made directly by Chord variation base. What means that? It means that a chord variation in style is made by 8 channels, and a variation has already 6 chord variations possibilities. Which means every variation in style has 6CV x 8Ch = 48Ch assigned ;) Very good job Korg! Time signature is write in SInt part of style, and you cannot change it in keyboard, if you already have started recording/writing events in style. You have to use PC software. On Korg, every style variation / fills / Intros / Ending / etc can have its own time signature, which is very good thing. Fills and Break has only one measure in Yamaha style! This is a very bad limitation. There are songs which needs more than one measure for a fill or for break. Korg does not have this limitation, you can create 32 measures for each style part (Intros, Fills, Endings, Break, Variations). If you press the fill button in the middle of the fill length, it will play only rhythms channels from that fill, the rest of the instruments are playing from the main which is behind that fill. Korg has 4 possibilities for fills to react according to variations. More than that, Korg has possibility to tell which variation is played after fill end. Korg's guitar mode it is far better than Yamaha's Guitar mode. Very strange approach on Yamaha to write guitar mode in style... A lot of editing functions in Style Recorder of Korg. You can edit channels from key to key, by length, transposition, cutting, deleting, etc. These on Yamaha cannot be done in keyboard, you have to use PC software. And a lot of other to say about it...
I found it on the Yamaha Downloads page if you scroll down further to "Other Downloads" europe.yamaha.com/en/products/musical_instruments/keyboards/arranger_workstations/genos/downloads.html
Just the better (FSX) keybed and the larger number of keys on Genos is a big difference... There are plenty more. Perhaps the SX900 is a better value. But the flagship is, by far, the Genos

Jeremy, I thank youtube for having a person like you in our musical community to bring up critical points in products we purchase.

You are right. The trade war ain't helping you guys. The SX900 goes for a mere $1,400 USD over here if one knows where to look.
Amazing 😉 and for styles I hope we can edit the channels and change velocities. Etc.

Hello. Genos will receive an update with the extra SX900 voices & styles.
There are 1000s of styles available for Genos in market that's not a big deal
You can help me by solving what I do not have the option of wireless in my genos ,, I am from Ecuador
You can get free the missing styles from PSR SX900, TYROS 5 and a lot of expansion packages etc enough to fill your GENOS...
Thank you for your videos Jeremy but please no background music when you're talking, it makes it so hard to hear.
Is there any other keyboard which is better than Genos disregarding the cost ?
KORG PA4X
price plz
Does the Genos have hammered keys to minimize tendinitis please???
Foot pedal 2 has stopped working. You do not listen to the functions declared. It only flips the registration memory back.
Hey maybe I can help you. Do a system reset in your keyboard. Just choose system reset don't chose midi or any other. Do the system reset
Does it work without computer?
HI Jeremy i been playing acoustic piano for around 3 year's
Do you recommend me to switch for GENOS
I like to play around and mix things up
Only if you want to play in an arranger style.
Yes i like to play arranger style
Which one Keyboard do you recommend
As long as it sound original and does different sounds
Cool

Genos vs pa5x
It has nothing to do where you live to buy a Yamaha Genos for example "fun fact" 40% of the USA citizen are 2 paychecks away from home less :-)
Which countries actually build the Genos for Yamaha ? Heard rumor that is is made in China ???
So even SX900 owners can expect new features/content via software update?
With new architecture, definitely.
Background music is very annoying
I can't find out where to get the Superior Pack :( I updated YEM but it doesn't show there
I found it on the Yamaha Downloads page if you scroll down further to "Other Downloads" europe.yamaha.com/en/products/musical_instruments/keyboards/arranger_workstations/genos/downloads.html
The SX900 is too close to the Genos.
That's why the update comes
KORG PA4X has already those functions and many more, yamaha following facts🤔
Just the better (FSX) keybed and the larger number of keys on Genos is a big difference... There are plenty more. Perhaps the SX900 is a better value. But the flagship is, by far, the Genos
It is a "halo"product. Just like the Nissan GTR which far from Nissan's 2nd best car..
