Hello again, dear friend Happy to see you following the single Fernando "Fernando" (1976) is slowly, and beautiful The best is the beauty of their vocal harmonies, with great solo intro by the brunette singer Frida, very soft at the whisper level but at a level of perfection, with Agnetha join in the test of the song and gives a fantástic harmonies, with exploted in a powerful chorus ABBA had already recorded "Dancing Queen" and it came from the success of "Mamma Mía" It was their manager who convinced Them to record "Fernando" so as not to repeat the style (the brunette singer Frida had done it the year before on her solo album in Swedish, with other lyrics, and it was a big success in Sweden) The manager was right and everything was a great success, one after another in 1976, that gives ABBA three #1 consecutives in UK: Mamma Mía (2 weeks) Fernando (4 weeks) Dancing Queen (6 weeks) "Fernando" was a colossal success in Australia (14 weeks #1 surpassed the BEATLES with "Hey Jude") and #1 in U.S. Adult Contemporary too "Fernando" is (in a tie with Chiquitita, from 1979) the ABBA second greatest worldwide (only behind Dancing Queen) and sell more than 10 millions singles all over the world And in 1980, after the worldwide succes of the single Chiquitita at latín countries in 1979, "Fernando" was one of the songs recorded in spanish to the full album 'Gracias por la música" (ABBA singing in spanish language) the official video of Fernando was filmed in two days , at the same time with the official video of Dancing Queen, in February 1976 My new sugestion is "Thank you for the music" (1977) an ABBA hymn A cordial greeting with affection from Buenos Aires Argentina South América
Try "Eagle" (extended version from the movie if poss) soft rock anthem. Or if you want to go back a bit and want a ballad try "I've been waiting for you" Or for ABBA Disco try "Summer night city"
O man, dont know how much of the 125 songs you have heard so far.but their catalogue is a jewelbox full of suprising unique and original masterpieces. (Well at least >95% of them..)
I AM ENJOYING YOU A LOT! GREAT REVIEW PERSONAKITY AND DETAILS. FERNANDO IS A BELOVED HUGE HIT FROM ABBA'S BIG CATALOGUE. I LOVE THIS ONE. THANKS FORCWISELY ATTENDING TO ABBA REVIEWS. SUGGESTION FOR NEXT ABBA SONG TO REVIEW? "THE WINNER TAKES IT ALL" MOST CERTAINLY!!!
Hey great song and great reaction. Yes Ani-Frids voice really shines here. Agneta is a soprano and Frida is a mezzo soprano which means she can hit the soprano notes but also hit the lower alto notes so she actually has a better range and i think richer fuller vouce. This song was written especially for Frida for her solo album Frida Ensam (Frida alone) Frida actually left the group (not Benny just the group) to try and persue a solo career. Their manager Stig Anderson who tightly controlled the group almost had a heart attack and told Benny to get her back. They spent almost a year trying to persuade her. The solo album was promised to her by Stig if she did. The album, and Fernando were done in Swedish and went to number one all over Europe. So this is actually a cover. Plrase do Money Money, Money live from Japan. It's another great Frida lead vocal song and they each did a quick intro to themselves. Nice to heat their speaking voices. Frida looks incredible here. Also from Japan their song "If It Wasn't for The Nights" is a fantastic song. Take Care
I'm sorry, but where do you get that information or conclusion that Frida was leaving the group and that they spent a year to convince her? ABBA had continued activity since they won Eurovision in 1974 with "Waterloo" And that year, 1975, both Frida and Agnetha recorded solo albums in Swedish, without neglecting their activities with ABBA. you can see on youtube a lot of videos with ABBA performing all over Europe in those years There was never the possibility that any member of ABBA would leave the group in those years, not even with the separation of Agnetha and Björn at the end of 1978.
@@eduardooscar309 it is a very well known fact. All over the internet and stated by Frida herself. In the early 70s they did many cabaret type shows on TV. The reviews were less than positive. Frida decided to leave and work on her solo career. It took Stig and Benny over a year to get her to come back. Stig needed something big to lure her so he promised her a solo album, Frida Ensam (Frida alone) she agreed. She made the album but was not allowed to promote it. Stig insisted on that. I believe it is in Stigs biography

ABBA recorded "Fernando" in English, Swedish and Spanish. My favorite performance of "Fernando", was from their 1977 Australian Tour, which is included in the DVD, "ABBA The Movie".
Now you need to listen to: Waterloo Honey Honey Knowing me, Knowing you Lay all your love on me Money Money Money Take a chance on me Angel eyes Crazy World Why did it have to be me? Slipping through my fingers My love, my life Move On Thank you for the music
Benny has said that there are 15 ABBA songs he wishes they had not made. But he refuses to tell which one. However, it is known that he does not like Suzy Hangaround. This is the only ABBA song where Benny sings lead.
So there was a massive argument between Benny/Bjorn and the manager and Stig on whether this or Dancing Queen should be the next single after the No 1 hit Mamma Mia. Stig won as Mamma Mia was an upbeat song and he wanted something different to follow it. Dancing Queen was then release after Fernando and it was the 1st of 2 times ABBA would have 3 consecutive no. 1 songs on the UK singles charts The 2nd time would be with Knowing Me, Knowing You / The Name Of The Game / Take A Chance On Me. Keep digging into this rabbit whole and for me there isn’t a bad ABBA song. Just baring degrees of excellence.
Nice that you do ABBA Reactions. Always great to see that other generations also like their music. Keep going! Pentatonix also has a large fan base. Sound of Silence, Bohemian rapsody, Hallelujah and so on. Have a good time.
Best Band Ever
Another masterpiece by ABBA !
When those girls harmonize, it's pure heaven.
I like what you’re doing.
Great réaction for a beautifull song
Try the excellent The winner takes it all
And their masterpiece The day before you came
Great Lyrics that paint with words - you see a movie in your head when you hear this song.
