Thanks for making this video. I always loved watching the fly girls more than the show and always wanted them to dance longer. The incredible amount of work they poured into their short dances are amazing. From the acrobatic to gymnastic moves and and timing it was incredible to watch. Rosie Perez did an outstanding job I always wondered what ever happened to the rest of the fly girls other than j lo. Also I read somewhere that Keenan wanted to do a spin off of the fly girls called Kicking it with the fly girls and them doing concerts and shows and even a fashion line. Why did that not go anywhere?? What a lost opportunity. That would have been a huge hit. Anyway I am planning on having a dance team during the avn awards show and I’m going to have the dancers study the fly girls and they’re going to dance just like them and wear fun outfits like them.
I loved, loved In Living Color. As a dancer, my plan was to become a Fly Girl when I turned 18. Then the show was canceled when I was 12 and my dreams were crushed.
Big, big fan of 'In Living Color.' Superb, and essential addressing multiple color lines. This show helped launch the careers of many of its cast members, including the 'Fly Girls.' Kudos to Keenan Ivory Wyanns and his vision. I welcome a much needed comeback to re address our current issues and ongoing struggles. There's a platform that needs to be explored.
I don’t think there are big issues or struggles today, only the amplification of what issues there, but mostly lies and misinformation by politicians and media. There is a problem with “particular” youths in cities. No one really wants to talk about THAT issue, though.
I am a In Living Color fan and the Fly Girls and the music they danced to for all five seasons in the beginning, middle and into the show. I read somewhere online years back in the 2010's, that in early 1991, it was announced that the dance troupe The Fly Girls, will dance to the pop, rap, hip-hop, R&B music they danced to during In Living Color. Keenen wanted to do a spin-off of the Fly Girls, and came up in a expanded form with a new hour-long TV show with Kick It With The Fly Girls, an In Living Color spin-off. Emmy-winning In Living Color has featured The Fly Girls mix West Coast cool with East Coast streetsmarts and wear lots of attractive hard- and software while doing so. Keenen's brother, disc jockey Shawn Wayans (SW.1), will serve as the show's co-host and was to MC'ed. Shawn envisioned them making pop albums, and them doing dancing and have them do concert tours, and shows and even lauching their own fashion line. The proposed show only got as for holding auditions for dancers in New York City, New York, and Los Angeles, California. That would have been a huge hit. That nationally syndicated show will showcase and would feature music videos and have live performances from "top performing artists and new acts". The energetic 6 member dance team performs during breaks between comedy sketches/skits on In Living Color. created and will produce Kick It With the Fly Girls. It wasn't picked up. Nonetheless, the troupe's bid for a syndicated spin-off TV program, Kick It With the Fly Girls, flamed out. After producing a sizzle reel and shopping it round at the annual National Association of Television Program Executives conference in early 1991, the plug was pulled despite getting commitments from affiliate stations across 56 % of the country. However, energy was still poured into turning the Fly Girls into a singing group.
Are you kidding? I LOVED ME SUM FLYGIRLS IN LIVING COLOR.... HA! We would have to hang out at home until after In Living Color aired. Then (all pumped up) we go out n play. Good times for sure 😎
Was I a fan of in living color yes ! Home don’t play that! Fire Marshal Bill, just naming a few to so many funniest hilarious moments ! Seeing African Americans being ourselves in our culture as well bringing other races along to help shape American history wow I miss those days!
I LIVED in Tommy Hilfiger those clothes were cut to my body shape! ( Finally!!) I spent a lot of days in the late 80s in dressing rooms pissed off and upset😂
I was most interested in knowing what happened to Cari French who apparently keeps a low profile these days but was my favorite and was part of the original lineup, unlike J. Lopez.
Living Color was base on black culture and IDENTITY show. That includes the Fly Girls. What I've seen here is Hispanics, Caucasian, and ASIANS the blacks females are left behind the scene. I was in the era of the early 70's just after the "JIM CROW LAW", SOUL TRAIN then was an all black cast and every Saturday I faithfully look forward to it, NOT a Hispanic or Caucasian and even ASIAN crew, but people who look like me who are always THE RUNNERS UP of the world, NOT CARBON COPY
The funny thing is during the 70’s Latino (mestizo) and Asian representation wasn’t extremely rampant either so thankfully I was able to see someone like myself on screen as well since Asians and Latinos were runner-ups during that time too. Anyone who wasn’t white or white passing had it rough on TV.
@@indigo3896 Gonna be honest I didnt really see Latinos or Asians on TV til the mid 2000s...Disney Channel, which is considered much more progressive than most mainstream channels, was almost exclusively White people with Black characters. Miranda Sanchez on Lizzie McGuire, London Tipton on Suite Life, Rico on Hannah Montana were the first people I remember being Asian or Latino characters. I think the funniest thing is having shows take place in California and not having Asian or Latino characters 😂 anyone who lives there knows that it's definitely not a White-Black issue
@SophiaFerro Uhhh that’s one way to put it but generally not how those who've have had the misfortune of encountering and working with her would describe her.
What years was In Living Color on? This is like a history lesson for me because I had no idea who the Fly Girls were, but people are talking about them.
I used to love this show and the Fly Girls. J-Lo was by far my favorite! The other Fly Girls used to body shame her. If you watch the episodes she was always wearing a lot of clothes to hide her body. I believe that was the fuel that ignited her to keep working hard and to keep going despite what others thought of her. I must give J-Lo her props. She showed the haters that she had it in her!
They were all so mean to jlo and envious of jlo but the jokes on them because jlo is the world's most powerful celebrity worth more then all them combined
@JRLOC her career is still going strong she's about to start a 100 show vegas resendency in Las Vegas at 1 million dollar a show so she's still winning and she has 4 new movies coming out and plenty of projects
Sounds like she can't dance, I sa her choreographies multiple times during her lifetime. I know she can't act, singing. However, she seems to be a discipline , organise, stubborn, and so diva even though she is still 😢in n this entrainment industry. I prefer Shakira ❤❤❤❤❤
The Fly Girls influenced much of my dance moves in the late 1980’s. They were my favorite part of the show, “In Living Color.”
Shot out to Deidre Lang. I had the pleasure of playing keys with her as a worship leader in Orlando.

Lisa Thompson was always my absolute favorite.
I watched every episode of "In Living Color" from inception to the end back in the day. I was 37 years old at that time!

Sure gave Cari French Michelle Whitney Morrisson short stories.
They used the wrong pic for Michelle Morrison too
Cari French was the hottest Fly Girl. Also, ILC only ran for 3 seasons.
I remember Lisa the most, she was the best fly girl.
my dad had a crush on her 😂
@@babylelee22Me too😂!
Yes 🙌🏾 I am an “In Living Color “ kid 🧒🏽

In living color not only boosted the careers of actors but the fly girls too? Wow. The more you know.
I LIVED in Tommy Hilfiger those clothes were cut to my body shape! ( Finally!!) I spent a lot of days in the late 80s in dressing rooms pissed off and upset😂
sasha alexander was never a fly girl! lol
I thought I was bugging. Thank you.
Neither was Alexandra Wentworth.
I was most interested in knowing what happened to Cari French who apparently keeps a low profile these days but was my favorite and was part of the original lineup, unlike J. Lopez.
Lisa Marie Todd one of the Fly girl is my niece.

If I’m correct Sasha and Madonna were picked but never appeared on TV

My god. Shut up and just enjoy something for once. You’re the one that makes all of her friends and embarrassed by the way you act in public.
Seems. Jen was quiet the. Diva. Even back then. As she kept her eye on stardom. Doing anything nesscessary to get ahead
She’s always on her grind since the early days and never stopped believing in herself. It’s impressive and inspiring.

Where Cari, she was my crush !
It didn't end in 94🤦🏽♀️
9:19 that's definitely not Karla Garrido

@adacamacho5143 She’s always had a reputation for being a bit of a monster.
So, you leave out Shannon. The white girl???
Those classes sure did pay off. Too bad she's a terrible actress.
Well, I disagree with you, . She is just OK, nothing exceptional anyway she doesn't pay my bills 🎉🎉🎉
I think that she can dance
They were all so mean to jlo and envious of jlo but the jokes on them because jlo is the world's most powerful celebrity worth more then all them combined
AGREED.
Jlo could not dance well in the beginning but she learned fast! Kudos to her
@@satori03 she always danced well
@purplesky4763 Her career tanked but I’m sure she’s still got plenty of money from her 90s peak.
