hi there are a new 3.5 jack decoder for 5.1 it has the rca phono one one side about £20 uk pick one up last week from far east there are uk sellers i have this model well made beware of the sony tc range keep away parts are just going bad in side the 40 year decks bob
I recently picked one of these up, x1800sd, it kinda works, but I cant record? nothing shows up on the vu meters at all, any clue as to why? if I put the rca in the output It works fine so its not my adapters or whatever

No line out on my laptop so I just use headphones out and it works fine, it will feedback though if volume is too high.
Get yourSelf a DAC with a USB in. You can find some really affordable ones online.

Every deck is adjusted for certain brand of tape but the common ones you can't go wrong are scotch 150, tdk, and maxell.
