    Thank you for uploading this video! I didn't know OCD4EDC sold the ceramic ball and springs for the Manix series knives. I had already swapped out the plastic cage locks on both my Manix 2 xl a couple years ago and was looking for extra springs and ball for "just in case" situations. Thank you so much for sharing brother!

      So glad this helped you, it is a nice upgrade that I love for this knife 👍 and they are lovely people @ocd4edc which make it so much sweeter to support. 😁

      If you search for the specific bearing you want you can find packs of them in numbers for the price most knife related sellers charge for a single bearing

    I went back to the original spring too. I remembered watching your video so when I changed to the new spring and didn’t like the mushiness, so I too changed to the original spring but kept the titanium lock. I went to this setup when I changed my scales to Flytanium carbon fiber scales. I ultimately bought another Manix 2 and kept it as is. Plus I have a Manix 2 LW S110V. Like the differing styles!

      Exactly, it was just too soft. I recently picked that sale manix 2 LW up. I think I like this knife in its light weight for even better 👍

      Just did the same damn thing. Put it all back together and immediately said "nooope I'm putting the stock spring back in" I could literally shake it open

    very informative, well done. I was feeling the titanium swap for the Manix, somewhat "monkey see monkey do". Everyone seems to jump at the chance to use titanium anywhere they can. Your video gave me some options. I will probably do what you did, keeping the factory spring, but my hands may not be that strong, i am 76, so in with the softer spring. Again Thanks.

    Already did similar installs like this before. If the factory spring is too much tension and the aftermarket spring is too light. Try cutting 1or 2 coils that are touching at one end of the factory spring. Whatever you do, do not cut more than 2.5 coils off or it will be too light again. Best way is to cut 1 coil then reassemble and try it out. If it's still too strong then cut 1 more. Then try it again. If still too strong cut 1/2 a coil. Again, don't cut more than 2.5 coils unless you have another factory spring handy to start over. Hope this helps.

      The factory spring actually ended up breaking in and I like where it is but I am so glad you shared this tip! 👍🏼

      @@dailygearguide Cool. Glad your springs finally wore in to where you like it. My factory springs didn't break in light enough on all 3 Manix 2s I have. So all 3 springs have been cut to where I like them. They now all drop shut without any wrist motion. Great for fidgeting.

    I have 4 versions of the Manix 2, but have only replaced the ball cage on 1 of them so far. I'd like to do the other 2 (one is a LW so you can't take it apart), but I had a very hard time doing the one. I've lost some dexterity in my fingers due to nerve damage, and it was just such a struggle I can't seem to bring myself to tackle another one lol. I do like the new cage though. Big improvement.

      What sort of nerve damage do you have? I have radial nerve damage from a compound fracture in my humerus bone. Sucks for sure. I can still grip but moving fingers outward like you would with scissors or various other types of outward finger movement is tough

    • @timbo4374
      @timbo4374 2 роки тому

      @@sml2238 Actually, I too have radial nerve damage. I damaged the nerve years ago, and had what they called radial nerve palsy. It was almost a year before I could move my wrist in a back facing upward motion or my fingers in an outward motion like you mentioned. Even after all these years, it's still awkward doing anything that requires fine motor skills with that hand.

      @@timbo4374 is it getting worse or staying the same? Mines been the same ever since about 2 years after my injury. But mines a 10 year old injury. It’s definitely frustrating and sometimes discouraging doing things that require fine motor skills but just keep trying to do things you can actually learn to get good at things even if it is harder for you. I’ve found I’ve been able to learn how to do things like video games, golf, or flipping a knife open. Just takes practice and sometimes some tweaks to the way you hold something or tweaks to the equipment itself.

    Just looking into getting 1st cross bar style knife ever (don’t collect knives.Just want 1)and while checking out different manufacturers/models,heard someone on here say something about a cross ball lock. Found your video & Got to see what that was /how it works + some alternatives. So thx. Those knives are nice. I don’t understand why they would put a plastic slider button on it though. Imagine it’s less expensive but honestly ,how much could it save them .?.?.cool initiative highish end mass production knife with plastic buttons. The part that you’re touching the most …Looks & probably feels cheap. Makes no sense.
    PS. Pocket clips. The milled Ti clips look strong but not deep. I got a civivi paraxis ,lost it …4 times ! It was bigger knife than I usually carried but it carried easily & I liked it a lot. The clips were horrible. I only felt 1 of 4 get snagged. The 1 I felt was bent straight out. 45 degrees. Never had any knife do that. The last one I bought & lost had a damascus blade. Question is,are these deep Ti clips harder to bend? The short deep cary Benchmade clips look like they are less likely to snag on something in the first place. So something small & stout + harder than steel should be as good as it gets. Unless im missing something. The knife doesn’t matter if it’s laying in the woods somewhere because of a POS clip..Thoughts? Id appreciate it. If I can’t have confidence in a clip, I’m thinking about shifting gears and getting a knife that is small enough to drop down in my pocket. Old classic case xx ,small Bucks ect are all I have left at this point. Thx

      The Manix2 LW is one of my most carried knives. I honestly have never had any issues with the factory wire clip with scales that have somewhat aggressive texturing but if you plan to change scales and get something with a smooth finish a milled clip will be strong and have more contact surface with the knife to hold on a bit better. The wire clip and those Lynch NW clips are really designed to work with factory scales or aftermarket scales that are fairly aggressively grippy. Hopefully that makes sense. Also, the plastic ball cage seems pretty durable, my last one never had an issue. I simply elected to change them to personalize it. Hope that helps 👍

    What difference does a ceramic ball make? The weight diff would never be noticed.
    Seems like it’s just because it is ceramic, that it’s an upgrade.
    I just don’t understand why this is a thing…

    • @dailygearguide
      @dailygearguide  Рік тому

      Ceramic ball bearings tend to roll smoother than steel and they also are less likely to wear or corrode. It’s a pretty significant upgrade.

    I swapped mine to a flytanium cage, ceramic ball and light weight spring. Tried the light spring and swapped back to the original -1 coil. The lightweight spring was way too light. With the stock spring with 1 coil clipped I think it feels better, but still offers a fairly stiff spring.

    • @dailygearguide

      What does switching to a ceramic ball achieve? Better smoothness?
