Well, they typically have to pick foods that wouldn’t cause the actors to have to chew a lot or possibly risk them choking if they say any of their lines with food in their mouth.
It would be weird to show them sitting down to eat and not actually have them eat.

In one scene Sheldon was eating at Penny's place and it was hard for them to act while doing it

If Penny moved in next to me I would totally ignore her and that would spark her interest in me because she's not used to the experience of passive rejection. Women are like that in my personal experience.

the writing dêteriorated so much it cringed. The first 4 seasons are amazing, any episode and clip cut could make you laugh genuienly. But as the show dragged on, the writers run out of material and passion, so the dialouges lost its magic and many of them are so cringe!!!
Just go and leave sheldon behind and have a great time without him and his complaining
