Josh was all heart when he said “It’s one glass lighter”.... too funny. Y’all are an awesome example of what couples are supposed to be like. Love y’all
I was holding my breath. I like your response, it's just a piece of glass. It really is, just a piece of glass. Thank goodness your children were otherwise engaged. You have the best attitude about what ever happens. 💖
Wonderful video. Personally, I wouldn't bother replacing the glass, I would remove all the other glass from all the lights instead. It's not like it's reflective or lensing glass, so it doesn't amplify the light in any way, so you can barely tell it's there, and really, the glass is only there for if you install them outdoors, and if you remove all the other glass, it will make the lights lighter, safer, and cleaning the dust off the glass won't be a thing. 😉
@@josh-vee -- I know. I put my comment too before I read the others. I just think we are all concerned about their safety. The light fixtures would also be lighter and safer without the extra weight from the glass. They are beautiful. Styles change with the times. I took out of whole lot of similar fixtures and threw them away in a house I bought. Now that style is back. :)
I'm sorry to learn of the demise of one of those beautiful lights. Here in Australia we never use screw into wood for heavy hanging light fittings. Too much risk that many years later with changes to the lumber condition the screws could let go and someone could be underneath. We always use screw/bolt through the wood horizontally with nut & loctite in order to impart double safety.
Yeah, I agree with Mandy and all replying here. Get rid of all the glass; it's only there in case of outdoor use. I've actually got a foyer lantern of the same general type, and I took the glass out so I could feather dust it easier and not have to windex the glass every few years.
I don’t know how you manage to do it but your ideas are just coming together perfectly. I spent months home shopping and never saw a single that just fit together the way yours does. It’s a masterpiece.
Yes, I thought to myself as the years go by, I hope they put the same intentional effort of building and maintaining a beautiful home into their relationship so it stays equally beautiful.
Yall were right, those lights are perfect for that style of house, looks so good. I can see why you waited so long for them. Good choice. All the talk about them being so heavy had me worried that you might have one fall trying to get it up there but the planning worked out and once again, Josh made it look easy.
"just make the interior of the house POP" words that should that never be uttered by an electrician :0 Love the show and what you both are doing for your family. Lots of good information from Josh on how to wire things, as well as the overall build series. Keep up the good work.
Great production values, the video and sound plus music and sound effects is superb. So much better and more authentic than anything on cable or broadcast TV. Plus you two and your family are much more entertaining.
So glad no one was hurt from broken glass. It is pretty amazing to see /hear you all take in stride these set-backs and surprises. The lights are beautiful!
Every week it's an extremely well-edited interesting fun, humorous episode of a really nice family and their amazing house. I look forward to every new vid.
Glad no one got hurt when that pane slid out. Glass can be real nasty and you dodged the bullet on this one. This might be a sign that you should remove all the panes since they aren't serving any purpose on an indoor light fixture. You two are doing such an amazing job of creating your homestead and raising three wonderful youngsters while simultaneously starting a farm.
Glass panes do serve a purpose on any light fixture indoor or outdoor. Indoors you aren't worried about moisture, obviously, but they do reflect and diffuse the light to some degree.
@@travisbenjamin4471 That is true at first. However, the glass will soon collects dust and a film from indoor pollutants that will reduce the diffusion of light.
You guys are AWESOME! Speechless and at awed of what you have accomplished. You two and your kids are an inspiration to any family. Exemplary example to anyone and whoever would like to follow your footsteps. Keep up the great work!! Amazing!
Oh wow this the light looks so beautiful. I hope you can do a house tour now that it complete. What separates you from many is the unity that shines through. The commitment to work together as husband and wife is so amazing to watch. You love so visible in both your eyes. You have what many can only dream of, a beautiful, solid family. You both have amazing taste in lighting, those are gorgeous. The best thing is nobody got hurt and glass is replaceable. You have a great attitude with this mishap. Love all your videos.
Hi guys, WOW!!! The new lites bring such a beautiful touch. A year to pick and look, then have made, then shipped, installed and now it will be a light to see the rest of your lives. Very beautiful!!!

Ok, i am wondering why those 3 ceiling lights you put in need glass around them at all. just wondering, is that not just something you will need to clean dust off of?
After seeing how easily that glass panel got knocked loose and shattered on the floor, I would advise taking out all of the glass for safety reasons. It will lessen the load capacity, which will help in reducing the amount of strain being put on the screws. Other than that, everything looks great.
I think you guys are doing a tremendous job being the most amazing parents to your kids. It's really such a beautiful thing to see. I enjoy all the building and daily chores type of content on here (and now also your second channel) but it always warms my heart to see how wonderful you are with your kids. Thank you for that.
Your home is absolutely stunning. You have done an excellent job with design and the build. I also think your spreading out the whole house build process over multiple years is genius for a whole lot of reasons. Please provide am update on your insurance 60 day projects and your heating system for the coming winter? I am hoping you can enjoy heat through the subfloor heating system you installed as part of the subfloor work.
The missing glass will alter the weight distribution throughout the structure. Overtime, the structure may warp putting pressure on another glass pane. Buy one more and put it in, or take them all out.
That was the quickest 20 min. I've sat through in a long time! Your videography skills continue to improve and impress. And, as usual, the content is primo.
Fantastic lights...they really make a huge difference in the appeal of the home which was already very high. Glad to see it was just some glass that shattered and not a whole assembly !
Lauren Greene the panes will keep dust from accumulating on all those inner details that would need to be dusted. With the panes intact you just wipe off the pane and your done.
Your journey is inspiring for so many. You have come so far from pouring the cement piers for foundation. In some ways it feels like just yesterday and in some ways much longer. Thank you for sharing your journey. Looking forward to watching the next steps.
Worth the wait and the broken glass. Several comments suggest taking out the glass on all the lights - save some weight and it won't be visible from the floor and you still have the beautiful effect of the lighting. Really is stunning! Good job and thanks for sharing.
I let out a huge gasp and shouted "oh no!" when I heard the glass break! I got many strange looks from all the people around me. Glad it'll be an easy fix. Proud of you Erin with those heights!! 😊
Everything looks great. If the one piece of glass fell out so easily, I might be worried about other pieces of glass falling. You should consider going glassless, it will be less to clean as well.

OOPS, I just noticed that many other commenters are saying the same thing. Oh well, it just means it's a good idea hehe.
What you said👍
Right, with what happened, for me, its not safe to keep the glass, i mean, it just fell off that easily..
i agree ditch the glass altogether. I Actually just upgraded some lights in my house.....glasses FTW

That's a lot of faith in two 10/32 screws, I would put four black lags in the light flange at 7:28...
#10 is OK......but how many threads are holding it...2?
I would not trust them..😮
The lights should have come with a hook, like ceiling fans do.
It’s fine he could swing from it .its dead weight so once installed they aren’t moving
For 10-32, need about 8 threads holding for each screw. Looks like enough thread engagement, not sure about box material though.
