adam writes songs that are not only interpreted differently by different people, they mean more than one thing...he uses versatile metaphors, unlike most artists who just talk in song form, adam sings poetry...full of metaphors, and no one knows exactly what adam wrote the song about, but his songs all have multiple statements...god i love owl city...
So, essentially, some guy thought this was a good song to be used during evacuation of humans from a god-battle torn city.

There are many ways to interpret this song. The way I see it, it's about how life can be hard sometimes, and how you just have to drag yourself out of bed each morning and hang in there, because things will get better eventually.
honestly I used to have this group of friends we always hung out...everything about it makes me feel terrible and I start to ball....but this song brings me back to when things were simple and when we hung out all together and cried together and thrived together

That's the beauty of art. It means something different to everyone who witnesses it. That's why trying to label it as one thing ruins the magic. The job of an artist is to deepen the mystery. Adam does a beautiful job with that here.

Personally this and "gold" are my owl city goto songs when I'm sad cuz they make me feel happier and empowered. Someone picked up onthefact that this is the polar opposite to "silhouette" , so I think the songs would go as a couple: ones the sadness of depression, the other is the being brave and pushing through it. 💙

But I'm _still here,_ and it hasn't beaten me, and it's _not going to._ Sometimes the embers go cold, but they're just waiting to be relit anew.
Hell, it tried to get me to forget this song, which is why there's a six year gap in between these comments. At some point I did forget. But not forever.

Looks guys, I am a Christian and the last time I checked, we are to be Christ like. You don't necessarily have to argue or validate your point. Someone one who isn't a Christian isn't going to think the same way as you. Christ reached out to people by being loving. Anybody can get whatever meaning they want from the song. I'm sure Adam wrote these to reach everyone, even though it may have some Biblical connotation.

I'm a Pagan, and I know that Adam Young is very inspired by his Christian faith. I think his songs are beautiful, and you're probably spot on with the scriptural references.
Don't listen to asshats who tell you you're ruining the song by assigning scripture to them, especially taking into account that Adam Young wrote "You're not alone" (You rescued me/ and I believe/ that God is Love/ and He is all I need) and "Galaxies" (Dear God, I was terribly lost/ When the galaxies crossed/ And the Sun went dark/ But dear God, You're the only North Star/ I would follow this far)
