yeah, I second these!
One thing I did when applying to video jobs was make an application video custom-tailored to the job, itself. It didn't work every time but I only needed it to work once...to land my current job!
That's a really good point. I think their are a ton of ways to stand out, whether it's making a custom resume or reel, sending a video introducing yourself, or researching the place your applying for heavily to get to know their culture. Thanks for sharing!
This video came at the perfect time I’m on my video production job hunt right now! Thanks Josh I really love your videos :)
Happy to help, best of luck!
Coming from a 3D motion graphic position and now I've got a video production interview (it's actually mostly editing in the description).
Lol time to start pivoting my tutorial watch list to actually shooting the footage 😆
Great video, Josh! Doing the same thing currently.
That's awesome, wishing you the best of luck!
Thank you very much....i saw this video at the perfect time, i have been doing video editing for 6 months now and despite the small time i have skills of more than 2 years of experience (only becuz ima nerd when it comes to learning) but i was panicking about how to show my work because i don't have partner or someone in the same field whom i could ask...Really thank you for the video
How are you finding job listings from companies? Are you using linkedIn and Indeed and that sort of thing, or are there other places for creative work?
Dude I’m 26 been doing it since 2013 always been doing everything I thought of, randomly apply at studios, drive all around Texas make a ton of photos and videos then sit on it randomly put it out👨⚕️ oh man it sounds so obvious what I was doing wrong. Working a 12 hour warehouse job can really drain your mind
Its not wasted. Before landing a job as a graphic designer I used to take photos of my family members and create fake magazine covers. It paid off eventually because I used them to create a portfolio.
Hey Josh, Good Video. I'm looking to hire a full time videographer to produce golf content. Someone who is passionate about golf would be the ideal candidate. I'm wondering if you have any insight on how to find a motivated candidate who is up-and-coming. Thanks!
Great video!! My question is, how do I shoot a video if I can NEVER think of any ideas?
What are your favorite hobbies?
I'm having trouble choosing what I want to do in life and I have been making my own videos/streams on a Macbook Air, as well as dabbling in Audacity. So, really how I got here is from a shower thought. I'm a little intrigued by how this whole thing works because it could be the answer to the rest of my life or maybe a slight glance. If you have any advice or warnings on the whole thing that has not already been covered, it would be most helpful.
Never underestimate the power of a shower thought haha! My best advice if you're not sure what to do, is set aside some time (it could be anywhere from 3 months to a full year) and give it a real shot! Whether you want to pursue streaming, UA-cam, or try out more corporate video production make a real honest effort to get involved. Look for jobs, internships, or even do stuff for free and see how much you enjoy it. If you hate it that's fine, but if you love it it could be the best decision you've ever made.
@@JoshWiniarski Well, about that part about taking my time...I wanted to take a look at a college campus and I somehow (completely on accident) got into college for Film Production. I- don't know what happened honestly but I guess I'm gonna put this possible career choice to the test. Anyway, thank you for the advice! (Oh boy I hope this ends well.)
@@PinaaaColaaa people change careers even in their 40's nothing is set on stone :)!
Hey man, great video! Just wondering how much someone could expect to get paid per year working full time 38 hrs a week) as a videographer? Cheers :)
If you're working for yourself, it could be anywhere from $30,000 to $100,000+ it really just depends on your skillset, experience, and the clients you work with. It varies A LOT since you'll be working your own hours, setting your own rates, and working with different clients.
If you're looking for more of a 9-5 job it'll most likely be somewhere in the middle, although I'm sure with enough experience there are jobs out there in that 6 figure range. Like most jobs though, start where you can and work your way up!
@@JoshWiniarski awesome response, thanks a ton for that! Are those figures in USD? Cheers!
SHOULD WO BUY CANON 80D IN 2022 ? OR IS THERE ANY BETTER OPTION IN THE SAME PRICE RANGE?
SHOULD BE VERY THANKFUL IF YOU MAKE A VIDEO ON THIS TOPIC
I'm Job less
I Worked Hard 💪 in video editing 🥺🧐
