In this episode we enjoy some time at Lake McConaughy in Nebraska. We visit Admirals Cove and The Boxcar restaurants. Get pulled down to the water by Chris, the tractor guy, as well as get pulled out of a sand filled situation! We had some great weather this time, but also a few storms. This is the only place in Nebraska I felt like I needed 4 wheel drive. They develop soft spots in the sand where each vehicle makes it soupier for the next and of course nobody marks them. They just sit in their lawn chairs and wait for the next victim.
You are correct Stephen, the sand can be deceiving and unforgiving! I have also seen, and practiced ourselves, that once the "excitement" of watching other get stuck, just as a lot of folks do, the "audience" will lend a helping hand if need be.

Do they have any day use areas of the beaches or any day parking lots? I'm thinking about visiting for just a day & not camping at the Lake when I make a road trip there in the summer of 2025. I'd like to stay in a motel in Ogallala & drive up to the Lake for a day or even a couple hours of a morning.
Yes, there are day use parking and day use areas at several of the beaches... including the area in this video. They have been roped off in the past... but people have not limited themselves to those areas. Have a great time!

I have never seen so many stupid people gathered in one place ever. That pull strap snapped and guy is right there ready to die. 4wd trucks thonking they wont get stuck in sand. I guess there was alcohol involved. Going there today with rv. I'll walk to the beach 😂😂😂

Great vide, thanks! You can't tow your own trailer on the beach?
You can always try towing your own down. If you get stuck and have to be pulled out it is more money. It also depends on the year, as to how pitted the sand is. Of coarse the weight of your trailer is also a factor. If you want to tow your own, I would suggest walking down first and checking out where you want to go and plan your path. Yes its doable... sometimes. Thanks for watching!
There are better lakes. This lake was great in the 90s. Now its always over crowded and theres always some asshole playing their music loud next to you. It used to be people would give you space. Now your right next to each other. Plus now you have to reserve a spot 30 days in advance which is crazy. Go somewhere else. There are better places. Unless you like the crowded beaches.
