This reminds me of my first project a long time ago. My tools were a hand saw, hammer, nail set and a framing square. I made a desk for a friend and 50 years later it is still being used.
As your North Shore neighbor, everything you do is amazing. Don't be bothered by people with small minds and smaller definitions. We are here for you, keep rolling.
I really appreciated this video. I’ve been watching diy woodworking videos for a while but have been intimidated by starting due to lack of tools. This makes me feel like I can start something with what I have.
Not only are you a woodworker, you're a welder as well! I remember you making those pieces of furniture out of steel & wood back when you had your apartment - I'm impressed. You're too cute climbing your little self up on your workbench to get the job done!!! Happy New Years!
Beautiful cabinet!! I love everything you do. You are one talented young lady. There will always be haters, because unfortunately there are soooo many miserable people. Happy holidays to you and family, say hi to dad! ! ❤
You're such an inspiration. And!!! You're as real as the heart beating inside of me. Don't worry about the haters. They're just envious of you because you managed to make a living out of DIY woodworking. I love and enjoy your videos. They are very fun and educational. I've learned a lot of my woodworking from you, and I'm proud to say I'm also a DIY woodworker. Keep doing you, boo. 🫶💜💕
More furniture would be great! Easy enough ... I plan to make two of these for my adult children as gifts as they like the look of more modern looking furniture.
That is a very nice cabinet. Really looks good. DIYer, wood worker, or pro cabinet maker. Everyone works on different levels, but the end goal is creating something to you can say you made
Sam!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are back! You just made my Saturday. Good to see you. Keep up the great work! Rhymes with shwomino. That was HILARIOUS. Yes, I have a Domino. You can do without it for sure - but WOW. Is that tool a timesaver and TIME is money.
This looked fun!! I’d love to see more of these. Don’t pay attention to the haters. It’s great to see you, your smile, and your skills again. Keep up the great work. ❤
@Grampiswoodshop I'm not a hater. I genuinely love these videos I watch many different UA-camrs videos from all over I'm just pointing out that the video name says 3 tools and makes a video using "optional extras," so technically, it's not making something using 3 tools
@ I didn’t even see your comment until you pointed it out, so I wasn’t directly referring to you. But now that you brought it up, you are not getting Sam’s point. She is explaining how you can build the project with just the three tools, as she uses the optional tools. She isn’t saying that those tools are necessary.
It has been awesome to see your enthusiasm to try new things and inspire us all to have a go. We all, even guys, have to start somewhere and it’s great to see the growth in confidence and skills. My woodwork isn’t quite perfect yet but what I’ve made last year works brilliantly for me and they are sturdy. Build what you want to build and we’ll be cheering with you. I like seeing different tools and what they do. ❤
Requirements for being a real woodworker: have wood, make things out of wood... That's it, that's the list! Stop gate keeping woodworking, people 🤦🏻♂️🙄 Your way is NOT the *only* way! In fact, if you're here trying to claim anyone else is not a woodworker, your way probably doesn't actually exist, you're most likely just a troll
The problem is… what she is saying isn’t wrong. What others are saying isn’t wrong. People should not diminish the “work” of others period. People should not also diminish the heights to which people can attain in a craft, trade, or profession. There are defiantly levels of skill and ability. Speaking as a third generation professional carpenter and cabinet maker.
This is so true. There is a difference between a woodworker and a professional joiner/carpenter. I am a woodworker who has built plenty of things out of wood that I'm pretty proud of, I don't do fancy joints of a joiner/carpenter, but I can guarantee that my things will hold up just as well with screws and glue.
I want to dive into woodworking so bad but I’m telling you it will never look like yours 😂😂 I love watching you so much because you’re small and you just get up on your projects it’s so cute and you’re just a breath of fresh air. You’re the bomb Sam keep up the good work. That piece is super cool. I’ve always wanted to try the bench that slatted like that.❤❤
@diyhuntress I have been watching you since the beginning! I started with just 3 power tools and now have graduated to 6! That is from your inspiration. It has brought me so much joy. Thank you for everything you do! ❤
I'm 46 yrs old and I love your videos, I have just finished painting my WC black...wallpaper on the top half of the walls, coving on the ceiling, and paneling on the bottom...black on the panelling, black door, black ceiling and coving. Tiling around the sink..I'm delighted with it, first time doing it and using a mitre block .😂
Hi Sam you are so talented to take pieces of wood and just make beautiful pieces I just love it you encouraging me to pick up a power tool and get some wood and make something❤❤❤❤😊
I love it and I think that it is beautiful!!! You did a great job!!! Oh, a little bit of advice...don't pay attention to negative comments from negative people. They are usually miserable with their lives, so they try to make everyone miserable or feel as inadequate as they do about themselves. Pay them no mind at all. You are legit whether you're a woodworker, diyer, crafter, or whatever your title might be. All I know is that your work is amazing!! Keep it up and know that what you do in life is done to make yourself happy, and who cares what anyone else thinks. Do you and do it loud and proud!!!
You sure look like a woodworker -- you made something out of wood :) I love my Domino but I could not have afforded it without my CNC machine which paid for the Domino and my Saw Stop. I seriously started out with my dad's 50 year old circular saw, jig saw, framing square and hammer. I still occasionally use them when I am think about him -- lost him almost 44 years ago when I was 17. Keep doing what you are doing what you are doing!!!
Anyone who makes things with wood is both woodworker and artist. This was a great Kreg commercial. I have several Kreg tools that have made the making process much faster. Wish the tools were made a little sturdier for long time use.
Sam, you are definitely a woodworker. I especially love how you encourage others, like you have done with me on doing an epoxy pour. Does the iron count as a power tool?🤣
Love the build and the idea about it. But talking about a 3 tool project with ~$650 in kreg jigs isn't hitting right for me. I'd have loved to see a full kreg to the max build AND a back to basics build as two separate videos (because any excuse for more of your videos!)
I agree. I think the intention was good and she does need to make money with her videos (hence the kreg commercial) but might have been good to show it both ways: beginner and only 3 tools vs simple but with helpful additions.
I just found your channel and subscribed after watching this vid. I am using hand-me-down tools and tools gifted to me from a woodworker friend who is downsizing. My goal is to do him and his tools proud. I look forward to seeing more of your work.
Love this! You're a great DIYer!! My goal is to have all my furniture solid wood. It lasts so much longer! Most of my furniture is older solid wood pieces I've painted and modernized a bit with hardware and getting rid of scrolling edges. Would love to have more videos like this! Congrats on your new workshop you created.. Amazing!!
Hey Girl - Happy New Year and thank you for your creativity, artistry and technical ability and your continued generosity in sharing that knowledge with us. I've taken so many tips from your instructions - you break it down in to easy to follow and not so scary steps, and been 100% real when it doesn't go to plan, so that, again we all learn from it. Love the vintage tool background btw - that sign...gorgeous x
Love the attitude🧡 and 10yrs of making things, in my eyes, gives you credits to speak about what you love doing. Great to see more women on YT sharing their WW ideas and experience - another subscribe to add to my female WW's list. Hi from Australia.
I love this and you totally are a woodworker!! Also I am in love with your filming background! That 3D logo with all the tools the same color! So atheistically beautiful and amazing! Keep killing it ❤
Watching from Ireland......pay ZERO attention to those fools. DIY for me is meant to be enjoyable to do and to end up with a job/item that I am happy with. If I want absolute perfection I'll employ a company at huge cost and probably still won't have a perfect job... thank you for your information and inspiration
Crazy, seeing her using a $1000 drill and a $10 Kreg jig. Happy New Year everyone. A woodworker is any person who can make a box, using even screws, nails would be better, it has that vintage look. 😉
Nice build & way to show fancy tools do not make a project--they help & can make tasks easier, but if you've never done a given task with basic tools, you can never really appreciate a tool's value! And for most of history, all furniture was made without power tools!!
Great project, Love the workshop. Not sure if you have tried this yet but eventually those rockler clamps get covered in glue and cause uneven glue ups, a cheap easy way to get them all clean again is use a pvc pipe, cap one end permanently, fill it with vinegar and soak the clamp over night. all of the glue will dissolve and clamps are brand new. you can temporarily cap the top and leave the vinegar in the pvc to reuse for about a month before it loses it's ability to dissolve the glue.
I have had a bench with shoe storage under it in my Amazon wishlist for over a year with the same slatted front vibe, and this makes me want to try to build it. Surely, this will hold together better than boxed stuff using those cam lock screws that never seem to tighten completely or stay tight.
If you make things out of wood you are a woodworker. If you get paid to make things out of wood you are a professional woodworker. If you get paid to make a three tool build video and actually accomplish it while still using a couple of grand worth of accessories you are a professional UA-camr. 😂✌🏻 Seriously, a couple of those things you used cost more than my current table saw. Happy you are back at it and seemingly happy. Thanks for another great video.
Ahaha. This one made me chuckle. 😂 I think really the only "costly" accessory I used was the MortiseMate (which, like I mentioned, is totally optional). But, the rest of the accessories you can find for under $100 (some under $50), especially if you opt in for the smallest pocket hole jig). But, all of the optional accessories I used combined are welllll under thousands of dollars. They don't even add up to $1k, let alone thousands. I'm trying to make these builds approachable for smaller shops. Not scare anyone away. Happy to be back! Thanks for the good laugh. 😂
@ yeah that MortiseMate is super cool. But for that price I’d just use a dowel jig. Then again I don’t do a lot of cabinet work so it wouldn’t be worth it to me but I can see how it would come in handy for anyone who makes a lot of box shaped objects and frames. My next woodworking project is going to be a cedar smokehouse for cold smoking cheese. I’m hoping to get it done before spring so I can get a bunch of uses out of it before it gets too hot outside in the summer.
Do not give power to trolls! Your channel is great, it feels personnal and we are a lot of people watching it. I know you all content producers are insecure and only read trolls' comments, but once in a while pay attention to the 98% other comments! :-)
Looks great! A little suggestion for the slats; having spots of CA glue and a bead of wood glue would remove the need for a nail gun, and make the slats affixed more firmly to the wood for the future. Besides that, I leaned quite a bit, tempted to do these kind of doors on my next project!
Happy New Year Sam! 🎊🎉🎊🎈 Referring to the nail gun you didn't use. An alternative to nails is to drill a pilot hole, and use either 1/8 inch dowels, bamboo skewers, or toothpicks as dowels. You maintain your 3 power tool limit, while gaining the strength of the added cross grains.
This was great and feels so attainable! This is such a wild coicidence. I've been looking for a cabinet that is 100% this style (slat doors and everything!) for awhile but everything that is affordable is just such poor quality MDF and the rest is incredibly cost prohibitive. Please do more videos like this, I find it super helpful as I would like to get started in making things but am pretty nervous. If you're looking for suggestions too - I'd love to learn more about selecting different kinds of woods/plywood for projects like this (something like budget friendly vs upgrade, but accessible vs oh u fancy). Thank you for being you and for sharing your knowledge with us. Hope 2025 brings you lots of joy, peace, and a happy heart.
Next time you should do a top 20😉I couldn’t say which one was my favorite. But I missed the guest bedroom makeover. I wich you a great start for 2025 and I can’t wait for new videos. All the best😃
God! People will always complain and devalue you for no reason. That was a really nice job. Just out of curiosity, how do you calculate the size of the base?
Oh my Sam I’ve seen you and Danie make some amazing things. A pox on people who don’t actually do anything making such lame comments. Happy New Year. They’re just envious don’t see them with a channel
FIRST! (Patreon pre-access fast pass!) Shop is looking incredible! Also, the cabinet looks great, it would be a perfect design for something that needs ventilation👍
New sub here..love the vid and the project. Very approachable and makes me want to watch rather than the snobbery from some of those real woodworkers! Keep it up,.I think your work and attitude is great!!!
Girl, do not let unhappy, miserable people bring you down! They hate that you are living your best life! Keep it up. Tell dad hi!

Cabinet is beautiful! Glad to see you looking well and happy!!
Thank you! Feeling sooo much better! Happy New Year, friend! 🫶
Yes yes yes!!! More of these!! Loved this video but necessarily because of the three tools but because of the project simplicity but gorgeous result.

This is very inspiring. I’m off the buy a mitre saw - baby steps!
Outstanding! Cool piece, nicely done. Don't listen to nay-sayers.
Nice project. I would like to see more of these types of projects. Thank you.
Nice cabinet, Sam. It's a great beginner project.

Gorgeous cabin
Beautiful!
Loving the cabinet. Happy New Year Sam xx
I love it!
Another sponsorship video for Kreg.
Quick tip for that Kreg rip guide. Always dial in your cut on a scrap piece, especially if you use your saw without the cut plate from time to time.
Cute Cabinet, Sam.❤ Looking forward to what you have up your sleeve, besides sawdust😂 in 2025. You are doing great!🌺
Haha - love this. Thank you so much!
Happy New Year! Beautiful build!
Really cool!

@ yeah that MortiseMate is super cool. But for that price I’d just use a dowel jig. Referring to the nail gun you didn't use.
An alternative to nails is to drill a pilot hole, and use either 1/8 inch dowels, bamboo skewers, or toothpicks as dowels.
You maintain your 3 power tool limit, while gaining the strength of the added cross grains.
