Hey, stop apologizing for the slower pace. I really enjoy it and I can already see, that your city will be more resilient to funny little mistakes. A really good series so far.
Slow? You have moved 10x quicker then any other series i have watched. Still it was nice to see you step out of your comfort zone to try something new, even if it ended up not working. You really dodged a bullet with that earthquake.
It's a bit funny that you went from planning an industrial zone then randomly starts decorating the city😆. Personally... I don't like using decorative paths. I prefer to build different trees, it takes more time but is more satisfying😉. A demolition office does not require workers, just like in road construction, workers are only a small buffer. It's good that only two buildings caught fire because of the earthquake. bballjo always tries to build a pub near educational buildings🤣.
Discovered you today because I couldn't figure out water supply. Well I'm 4 hours in and I love your content! You're so great at explaining the game and take my fear out of realistic mode. Also your attention to detail from efficiency to aesthetics is awesome!
37:45 Pro tip: When placing pipes, roads, rail, paths and whatnot try pressing CTRL while you are at the phase where the scroll wheel adjusts curvature. CTRL acts as a toggle for having one or two curves. In this case you would want two narrow curves to make the sewage pipe as short as possible, i.e. hold CTRL and use the scroll wheel to make the turns tight. (In this case you ended upp adding another switch so all this didn't matter, but I think it's still worth pointing out).
I'n my map of this challenge I first built the full crops industry and had years of slow groths, then quickly put out a nuclear industy on a fair bit of debt (based on your industy comparision video, not seeing you actually used it in the series), my debt including some existing is paid off by the end of the year!
I'm playing along and already decided to not give a crap about producing my own raw/bulk ressources (except lumber and gravel) not gonna waste space on mining/processing and growing crops 😂
You might catch it later, but when setting up the new CO, it looked like you only picked steel from open storage. Everything else was coming from the customs house.
Some thoughts in general and not necessarily for Jo since A, I’m sure he knows them and B, there’s a lot of new people for 1.0 watching stuff like this. Anyways, first it is good to split off a “road construction office” that entirely handles roads, if you’re using a free office something like one flatbed, two dozers and a dump truck is good, or you could even do one flatbed and three dozers if you have dumptrucks elsewhere. There is a toggle to “deliver mechanisms by flatbed” which means your dozers won’t be driving around and instead have a truck deliver them at over twice the speed. One flatbed truck can babysit many dozers without much if any bottlenecking. It also means excavators which aren’t so good at it won’t try to build roads. Very handy! Next is if one plans to get a lot into rail it’s good to place train refueling stations on a side rail just long enough a train can fully divert off the main rail. It’s not major at first but especially at borders it can cause congestion if the refueling takes place on the through rail. If you’re using directional rail (each rail having a designated direction of travel) you can make them even shorter because the refueling station can be right before it rejoins the main rail. Loving the season. Look forward to the major expansion once the border village is set up.
@@anonemoose7777 correction on rail fuel... never place the fuel station to the side. If the train drives through a refueling spot, it will refuel often, if it's out of the normal path it will only look for it, if it's below 30%, and at that point it may not make it to a fuel station .
Got this game on the Steam summer sale. I had no idea how hard it was so I searched youtube and you came up. Now I don't know if I'm smart enough to play this.
Did you send water trucks straight to the small water substation, or has it to do with the technical building running the water truck this way? There is no truck stop with the small water subs i thought, so i always built these larger water distribution buildings for smaller, no purifier, solutions. Also i wonder if you are on to a long budget struggle, but maybe not i am curious. Cities just put not out much return unless producing import independent. The chemical and grain import will be expensive.
Water...yes, technical services can deliver directly to all buildings that require it, and if you have water substations, it combines those buildings into 1 stop. Money? Let's wait and see.
fact that power substations and transformers in vanilla don't have integrated high side switches is so annoying. Workshop has close to accurate transformer station that unfortunately has no circuit switch ("priority") abilities, but will let you pass HV power through. Substations probably can be powered from two transformer stations for redundancy, but I haven't checked that yet.
I'd say that the main reason for having multiple connections is to for example have one 1.45MW and one 1.05MW underground wire to a sub station, giving it the full 2.5MW. (Btw, with the vanilla sub stations now having three connections and the GUI stopped showing the 2.5MW limit - is that limit removed? I.E. can we supply 3*2.35W overground wires to get 7.05MW from a single sub station?)
Are you referring to water flowing without a pump? I would think that the game simulates that a water well is actually not at surface level but rather a few meters under ground. (IRL I think that a shallow well usually has a water level that is 2-10m deep, while a deep well might have water way lower but usually the quality is higher).
@@bballjo At least in some places sewage from buildings / "humans" are separate from the drainage that takes care of rain water, so those torrents only happens in the pipes that don't handle the worst waste.
Why did you put the free gas station right next to the construction office instead of just assigning the distribution office to fill the construction office with fuel?
bro what, the game gave me quite a lot of people with no education xD, looking at my people I found a 33 Years old with 0.46 education having absolutely no edducation must go to normal school
What the hell, I just got sent a 28 year old with 0.01 education holy jesus, what kind of garbage do the west send me, what do they promise em to come here, a bar of snickers?

Speed and rush are lethal in this game, we like it as it is, carry on :)
"Sorry for the slow speed"
*plays 5 times as fast fast as I do*
There is a checkbox at the university now, to prefer students that are educated, thus promoting the chance to finish study in time.
I'm getting there! 😁
That is so good. It was so annoying in the past
Having such a working rebublic in realistic in that amount of time is NOT slow...
43:00 Asphalt is the natural enemy of childrens' knees everywhere 😅

Where else are the parents to go without kids?!?
loving the series, the road built right over the hill instead of around at 8:52 made me lose my mind for about 13 minutes
yeah I didnt get triggered as you did but I def went... 'uh, you could have curved it to go with the land contours and be a lot more unique looking'
Pub definitely goes next to the university ! Cheers, quite enjoying this series !
Asphalt, for the children!
A little bit of Asphalt for the Children.... How nice 🥴

You can't have too many sewage switches 😂
Reiterating this: @Bbballjo , please read this! :)
@bballjo check the wear and tear of the buildings that were on fire - one residential and the university
People can only get beer if they wait for the bus. ITS MY DICTATORSHIP AND I GET TO CHOSE THE AWEFUL LAWS.

U must place a big RED STAR on the hill between industry and town .... it would look so soviet !
A monument to the Big Quake :D

Yeah...it's high time that setup gets moved...soon enough 😁
This is your best series yet. Thank you for making this, I've been learning a lot from this series.

43:30 please do, decoration is nice in the bleak world of W&R
All I need is to find 5 mins where something of low to high importance doesn't distract me 😂
34:05 False, now it can support more (around 2500 I believe?) due to increased inner heat tank (used to be much smaller).

Sure you are! It's just a game :)
Do you pay for workdays when you bring workers from the border to the bus station or only when you bring the workers to the building sites?
When you pick them from the border

I'll try!

Nope :)
Why did you build that power switch, can't you just run the cables directly from the first one?
We're so back!!
yeah, give those pesky children some asphalt to play on 🤣
I wonder why sewage needs less of a drop than water - which is much less viscous.
Because water runs in pressurized pipes, so it doesn't need any drop, sewage runs just with gravity.

@@bballjo Huh - is that how it actually works in real life? I would think with all the solids it would clog if it relied just on gravity.
Have you never seen the inside of a sewer? They are just little rivers/creeks most of the time, and torrents when it rains...
@@bballjo At least in some places sewage from buildings / "humans" are separate from the drainage that takes care of rain water, so those torrents only happens in the pipes that don't handle the worst waste.

It's always a great surprise 😁

why do you no longer do your trick with footpaths to make the distance between pilons longer?
That's only to save moneys in the beginning
Why did you put the free gas station right next to the construction office instead of just assigning the distribution office to fill the construction office with fuel?
Because at this stage, the CO didn't have power.
What are the new features?
Mostly qol and some new models from what I can see
Do you have to pay foreign workers as soon as you "import" them or only when they actually start working?
When you load them from the customs house
Another comment for the algorithm
