the question on belief system was amazing.
"what do you believe is true, but can't prove?"
reminds me of the peter thiel question lol

I was thinking about this last night, and boom UA-cam recommends it to me when I wake up. Roelof is a chill, very polite guy and I've been wondering how he's thought about his career. Not that I want to emulate his career, just pure curiosity. He's made his moves without making too much noise. I interacted with him more than a decade ago, and he strikes me as a quality guy. I actually think he epitomizes Sequoia.

Very good content in the interview. Surprised by the counterintuitive choices by Roelof!
Feedback for the channel - we are here to hear Roelof speak, but the first 10 min are about yourself...you may wanna leave that for the end

6:50 if money wasn't a constraint, build AGI and try to solve longevity,
there's nothing more important than that imo
esp with the advances, that's basically it - with the largest impact

    His inputs
    1) Think of how to maximise your value in 30 years down the line, not 1/2/3 years only. That way of thinking will make you take different choices. In this case it meant working for paypal instead of McK or GS and taking 3 paycuts instead of 3 pay rises, with the eventual option of going much higher later.
    2) If you could put something on a billboard, what would you put on it and where?
    3) If you could do a job and not be paid for it what would you do?
    4) 10 years down the line, what would you be proud to have done now?

Black South African here with Accounting background and can tell Roelof that his Actuarial professor was wrong. We’re taught to have a full view of a company and form strategy on it’s survival in the future. We do think about the next 30 years, and we execute strategies to get there

While watching your podcast, I sometimes pretend like you’re asking me the questions that you are asking your guests.. like.. I give myself time to think about it.. like what is my morning routine? How do I wind down? What do I listen to? and so on..
So, for me, I think watching your podcasts is a great way to understand myself better.

Not a answer that is tech focused?
Would they be afraid that he would say “Why are you here?”

Thank you for this video/podcast! I really enjoyed it! I'm not a business graduate, and I own and operate a business in dentistry. The question of what is enough is a tough one. At GSB you're surrounded by huge numbers in the millions and billions, so it's easy to get engulfed by that. For me, it's enough for me to do better than I did yesterday. Treat people well, do good work, make a difference for others, and compensated for doing the work I enjoy, that's enough for me. My ultimate goal is to live each day in a way that if people that know me were ever asked about me, they would hopefully say nice things. I believe in karma, when you do good things, the universe will return the favour, but I can't prove it. Good luck in everything you do, Cherie!
