Damn right, I had two old drunks for teachers when I went to welding school, they hated being there and put no effort into teaching. Needless to say I didn’t learn much from them...

Thank you very much mr Jodie just sub to ur channel just want to say I been welding for over 10 years some even underwater I know sometimes it’s hard to get job for Specific type bec of access to different type of material like you said you need to be exposed to that type of welding I’ve seen plant welders that could kill Tig but can’t weld flux core or mig same goes with some old timer that can show you a thing or two with stick rods but never been exposed to Tig . Ur channel really show a lot of info n gives the key details to welder who know how to weld but never got a chance to do certain type of procedures n that’s the key to open doors

Big fan of the channel and have learned much along the way. Thanks!
I do have a question unrelated to this particular video, but thought I'd throw it out there.
Regarding ultralite aircraft and the ridiculously restrictive weight requirements, I've learned of a manufacturer that is offering a titanium tubing option to help with weight over the traditional 4130 offering, though no specifics are provided as to how the process is achieved. Based on your videos, titanium requires a thorough back purge to stave off oxidation of the inner wall of the tubing during welding. Given the rather intricate design of the cage / frame, I envision two options for success; either build a large sealed enclosure, wear a closed circuit suit and use a ton of argon or design the cage to permit passages for argon to saturate all surfaces of the tubing inner wall. This would entail numerous holes introduced at every connecting joint for argon to travel and likely quite a bit of argon to maintain protection. What am I missing? Any input from those qualified would be appreciated.

Gday Jody i love your videos and have been watching them for about 4-5 years now. I thought id ask but in nz alot of car enthusiasts love stainless exhausts especially 3” 1.6 mm but majority of people are to scared or dont have enough skill level to make one. Would be awesome to see you make a video that included some ideas of making simple welds on similar material and show basic fab techniques on how to go about tig welding 3”. Its a long shot but would be cool to see something like this in the future. Cheers regards Devon!

would you consider doing a video of a viable aluminum mig welding with a mig gun setup ( without a spool gun or push-pull gun )? Best welder/best affordable welder- aluminum wire and size- wire feed- single or dual roller- feed roller design, gun, cable length- cable liner- contact tip, stickout, shealding gas, etc....
There are several videos already out there but they all leave a lot to be desired.
    Thank You

.......yeah im under my wifes account, but just heard your art kleppen podcast and you mentioned your H & R 22 pistol......i used to assemble them and yeah they were scary to shoot some of them......the guys who used to test shoot them used to get bit by lead shooting out the sides of the cylinder......we could only do so much when assembling......they needed them out the door or they would lose the contract and if you lose the contract you dont get paid.....we were always on time constraints......Kmart was a big account back then.....

In the past you have stressed torch angle at approximately 10 to 15 degrees, walking the cup certainly blows those numbers away by probably 30 degrees or so. I wonder if you could comment on any changes in Argon flow rate your experience would suggest while walking the cup. Thx.

Hey there Jody! So I am trying to learn how to walk the cup. I use a miller dynasty 350 I think water cooled torch. Is there a adapter to where I can use the bigger air cooled torch cups. I notice every one uses those to walk the cup and if its possible to adapt something to my smaller wp 9-20 torch, thanks.

This has more to do with the add then the video lmao but i love how miller is showing off that remote start and stop on their generator welder.... the question i have is what are they going to charge you for a 10 switch on Amazon ? Nothing more then a 10 dollar wireless relay lmao and i bet they gonna tack a good 500 on the low end for it. Anyone with some simple electrical knowledge will see it and I don’t think the 10 dollar and less then an hour install would be worth the huge price increase they are asking. For those that don’t know a contactor is the same type of switch that your AC uses. It’s basically an electromagnet that when given its trigger voltage powers the magnet up and this closes the circuit and turns the power on or off. They are designed to switch heavy loads ( a lighting controller uses the same thing, when the set time is reached the timer sends the voltage ( can range from 1v-120v usually) to the contractor switch and powers up the magnet which then the circuit is completed. It’s a way more cost effective way of switching power then having to have a bigger way more expensive timer hard wired in. The timer in this setup is replaced by latch relay which when you click the Remote does the exact thing. Leave it to miller to try and sell you the wheel like they just revolutionized it 😂.
