I just love this bowl. Thank you for posting this. Do you have any tips on how to make it look better post-grind? I took off the points with a dremel but now have a dull finish there. I would imagine a fire polish would ruin the piece because it would be too hot.
Hi, I love this bowl! Thank you for all your videos Christina. I made this cut strip glass and frit bowl the other day and after the first firing the clear glass frit remained whereas on your video yours fused into the red strips. I didn't slump it as I wanted it as a sculpture, rather than a bowl. However, as I said the frit remained scattered and visible across the red strips. I use CEO 90, does that mean the temperature should have been higher? I converted the schedule to Celsius and checked this on the internet to ensure I had the correct temperatures. I am relatively new to this so wonder if the schedule should have been different and, if so, what it should have been. Also can I do anything about that now? It looks fine with the clear glass frit all over it but it is not what I envisaged. I would value any advice. Thank you for your time. Stay safe.
Anita Mountain hi, for COE 90 you may need to go about 20F hotter., but you can fire it again, just place it back in the kiln, use the fiber dam again, otherwise the piece will spread.
But you know that annealing for COE 90 is 900F, right? If you place it back in the kiln, and re fire it, slow down your temperature on its way up to 1000F, maybe 175F per hour.

Yes, you can’t do a fire polish after slumping. A lap grinder could help, to polish the edge

Do you have to slump it in a bottomless mold? Can you use any bowl mold that isn’t bottomless?
