She is the prototype.....dark, beautiful and natural. Voice intoxicationg. There will never be another Anita. Been a fan since I was 7 years old. 35 now....
i was 7 years old when i was teaching myself this song by reading the lyrics singing along, repeatedly playing this track on my mother’s CD player. i’m 35 now.
I didn't like this song when I was younger because it didn't make sense. As an adult... I cry just listening to it because I understand COMPLETELY, especially since I have kids. I wish I could make their fairy tales last forever. Thank you Anita!!!
Ericka Burch Same here! Well said! “Fairy Tales” resonated years after I first heard it. The song is not only a power ballad but a powerful testimony! Timeless masterpiece! 💕
I don’t think the song has nothing to do with children. It’s about how the matriarchs in your family tell you, one day you will meet someone special and they will make your life better(like a Fairytale). But these women forget to tell you about the the reality of relationships and the realities of life. Just my opinion
I saw her live in concert recently and at 64 she's UNREAL, EVERYTHING, and MORE!! ..definitely not apart of this world but a gift to us from God Himself 🙏🏽 💯🤩🤯👑🔥💫🐐
She was pregnant and glowing on this video. If I remembered she either said she was six or seven months when she did this video. This song is a grand slam!
I adore Anita Baker. I have so much respect for her as an artist, as a mother, as a woman of faith and as a black woman. I had the honour to see her perform live in Barbados and I shall never ever forget that experience as long as I live. In praise of the DIVA- Divinely Inspired Victoriously Anointed- woman of strength and power, Anita Baker.
Not that you asked, but, this isn't a love song. It's actually is an anti-love song. Did you listen to the words? She's talking about being abandoned. Still beautiful though! :-)
Matasha Lee Every mother to nite before midnight call up their adult children n read them a fairytale. All children must be read a story tonite. On monday its that neglect that will now fuel any and all of your attitudes. keep that b s to yourself or take it up with your mothers. leave me the hell alone.
She's one of the nicest people I was required to work with. We all ave our moments is all I will say I love the women herself a human being I did scare and also accidentally shocked the poor women. Girls should all under stand this song its lyrics and story If you as a women girl do not agree with these lyrics there's a problem girls. All of us girls where told this same story growing up by our mothers and then a slam when we grow up a reality wake up call. . Ah mom you didn't teach me that part.. Love Anita aka Ms. Baker to myself
This video goes so well with the song, if you were to use your imagination as you listened to this song it would look like this. She has such an amazing voice, her music and voice is comfort!
Whenever I'm feeling down and need some nostalgia, Anita is at the top of my list. So overshadowed by Whitney back in the day but better to my ears anyway. I hope miss Anita is doing well ❤
I truly miss songs like this. My mom never taught me any stories like this, some how I formed them in my head only to be disappointed and facing reality. 😒
Love this music makes me think of my mom n how happy she was jammin to dis music even though we had problems dis music would take u away hope she knows how important her music was to ppl in poverty
I have loved this song since I was eight because I liked the melody and how beautiful her voice was but once you've had a little bit of life experience and you can relate to what she is saying it hits totally diifferent
Anita Baker is on top of my list of favorite artist...she's a master 🙌 timeless music....all.the feels....hey life Warrior I love you ❤️....I was here 2 / 3 / 23

One of my favorite songs by this artist an definite keeper. I like all of her material but "Fairy Tales" is my favorite jazzy yet very soulful... carry on Girl!
I was 12 years old and was one of your biggest fans at 5 years old. I'm so glad that you came out with this song when you did!!!! I listen to this song song and cry!!! Sad and happy thank you for all of your songs!!!! From 5 years old to 42, you and Luther Vandross will always be my TOP NUMBER ONE'S. Never got a chance to to see him perform, SMH, I cried over that, So if you're ever in the "Indiana" radius please let me know. I will work so much over time just to bring my me, and my family to see you!!!! My grandkids know your songs.WE LOVE YOUR VALUE!!!
I remember growing up listening to this and the living room while my mother was in the kitchen cooking dinner I was just a young Little Boy who didn't know anything bout this type of music all I new was that my mother had a big beautiful smile on her face 2019 at the age 32 this song bring back memories
Love Anita Baker because of my black, gay Uncle who loved music. I feel in love with song in the 90’s at the age of 7 because of a Anita Baker CD. My Uncle passed away 12 years ago and I play this to feel closer to him. Love you Uncle Dee
Anita Baker is the most phenomenal singer of jazz ever. I love all of her music and lot of which she composed herself. Plus she's from my hometown Detroit. Thank you for the music you gave to all of us.
I have been listening to Ms. Baker for the last 3 days as after hearing her on the radio. So much power in a small body. Love ALL her music! Hod Bless!
Beautiful woman. My mom went to see her live at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. My mom was so happy. RIP Momma I love you so much and this song reminds me of you. RIP Kay Kay
I never thought when listening to this as a little girl that I'd grow up and experience everything Anita is singing about in this song or most sad love songs for that reason. I just use to sing along to this song and her other songs as a child so carefree, not knowing I'd be in tears 29 years later singing to this. I wish I had a time machine to take me back to 1990 to that 4 year old little girl I use to be just singing this song and not knowing what I was singing about.

@@treseancann1261 I believe so. Gosh, he looked so frail, but he smiled through it all that night. The man with more energy than any two people in Hollywood was fighting his last battle, it appeared. My parents took me to see him twice, both times in Memphis at the Danny Thomas Shower of Stars -- his big concert to raise money for St. Jude's back in the late 60's and early 70's. The first year they took my brother and me, Frank Sinatra was the headliner, closing the show with what was at the time to be his next to last public performance. However, Mr. Davis upstaged him and everyone else on that stage; the next year he returned as the headliner. Mr. Davis wowed the audience both times.
