Hi there. I am actually the director of this documentary, but I also work in sports and social media. I worked for s betting company on social media for 2 years. The impact is huge, but not always in the right way. The players get closer to the fans, but mainly to be more marketable rather than for interactions. For the fans, the large majority are just there to voice their opinion. It’s also a great place to keep up to date with all the news about your club. However, there are always those people who use the platform for racism and abuse. The door is now open to anyone with a keyboard. Maybe there needs to be more control from the social media operators to stop the abuse (which isn’t always racism) I do believe he impact overall has been beneficial for both fans and players and their relationship, but the loose levels of control make it a place for the idiots who say the most obscene things or shout the loudest.
