When you compare 2 lenses, it would be nice if you stick one lens to one side of screen. Keep switching makes inconvenient to track. Great video though !😊
I've owned the Samyang for a while. It was a brilliant lens when it came to image quality but I often times had some inconsistencies with auto focus where sometimes I had to restart my camera for it to start working again. There were a few times it also didn't focus on some distant objects and the AF speed was not the quickest. It was on the latest firmware and I used a Sony A7iV. Definitely a sharp lens when it works but the inconsistencies were getting in the way of my event coverage work. I sold it and went with the Sony 24-70 GM II... expensive yes... but absolutely worth it if you don't want to worry about your gear working 100%.
Interesting, I haven't had that yet happen to mine. I was going to say maybe firmware but might be a faulty batch?
WOW! WONDERFUL Samyang lens
I love the samyang lens. They really have come along way.
The only things I don't like about my samyang 24-70 is lack of zoom lock and weight. I just put a black rubber band around the lens to stop lens creep when I walk and you get used to the heft of the quality of the samyang quite quickly. Great image quality and performance for the price.
Definitely an awesome.lens for the price. I am hoping in their gen 2 lens for tge 24-70mm if they are going down that road will improve for a lock on the lens to prevent any lens creep.
Thank you for comparing these two, loved the colour rendering more on the Samyang than the Sony, even if they were priced equally would’ve had hard time to pick, let alone one being 2.5X times more.

My biggest gripe with samyang lenses is the fact that their AF is always inconsistent in primes and zooms. I've given up on buying any samyang lenses anymore. My 85 1.4 samyang missed focus so many times and had the worst focus accuracy ever even after any firmware update or micro adjustments even. I sold it and moved on to the sigma 85 1.4 dg dn which is amazing. It's mainly due to the fact that they have to reverse engineer the lenses where as in sigma and tamron get more access to the AF algorithms and get more consistent results. Perfect example of this and how things have improved is try testing out the new sigma 50 1.4 dg dn vs the sony 50 1.4 gm.
They are SO similar in AF and performance that you can't tell them apart besides the sony having better corners. But you get so much bang for your buck with the sigma with how good they are in their newest AF motors in the 60-600 and 50 1.4. I too have the sony 24-70 GM II and sigma 24-70 dg dn. The sony is consistently getting sharper center and corner performance in almost all FL and apertures especially wide open. Also am not a huge fan of the vignetting and distortion of the samyang lenses but their warmer rendering can be nice kind of like some of the sigma lenses are.
Here in India this samyang lens is priced less than the sigma 28-70 contemporary and the tamron 28-75 ...so it is best value here
Yeah samyang gives the best value for your money and performing really well and is on par to the GM II
I have the Samyang lens.
It's a great lens, very sharp & good build quality. Beast of a lens.
But the weight can become bothersome if you're holding it in your hand all day if you have weaker arms.
I personally don't have that issue but I do appreciate a smaller & lighter lens for street photography.
The Sony lens is perfect because of the size & weight (extra sharpness & autofocus speed is bonus) but the price is way too high.
I hope Samyang releases a Mark II version of this 24-70 & make it lighter & smaller.
