The Decplay method of playing the piano is unbelievably easy. I was truly amazed at how quickly I could learn new songs and old. My dream of playing the piano has come true at the age of 76!

At last I have achieved a lifelong ambition to learn how to play a musical instrument. The piano has always been my favourite instrument so after retiring I finally decided to have a go at learning how to play it.
I started taking lessons, and trying to learn how to read notation. After a considerable outlay, and weeks of struggling with notation, I almost gave up. Then after searching on the Web for online lessons, by fluke I found the link for the Decplay Method of learning.
I watched the video with Declan explaining how it worked. Thirty minutes later I had signed up and enrolled on the course. Within days I was playing simple tunes, and the more I played, the more enthusiastic I got.
It has been just over 12 months since I started the course, and now with the help.if Declan and support from the group I can play songs like, 'This Year's Love' by David Gray, 'Nimrod The Enigma Variations' by Edward Elgar, 'Sound Of Silence' by Simon and Garfunkel, plus many others.
I record the videos and send them to friends and family who are continually amazed at what I have managed to achieve in such a quick time.
If like me, you have struggled and gave up before, it's never too late, the Decplay Method has proved that.
Life is too short, so don't give up on your dreams.

The DecPlay format has simplified the puzzling world of learning to play the piano. It’s so easy to understand, I’m sure anyone who tries this format will soon be playing recognisable tunes.

I highly recommend DecPlay. It is easy to start at a beginner level and move up easily. Dec will demonstrate most songs and the songs can be printed out. It's a great system. Give it a try.

I recently started to learn piano using DecPlay and found it so much easier than any method I have tried before. There is also an opportunity to join a fortnightly zoom call and hear from likeminded students at varying levels of their piano journey. For anyone wanting to learn piano, this course is a must as far as I am concerned.

This is an amazing method for beginners, but also for those of us who gave up the piano in the childhood. It’s so much fun to be back at the piano ! Thank you Decplay !

I can wholeheartedly recommend this lovely course to anyone. Like many of us on the course, I am now enjoying being able to play the piano after having been put off it in early years. I had piano lessons for several years when I was very young, firstly with a kindly old lady with whom I made reasonable progress. Sadly, she died and my new teacher was very curt and abrupt. I lost any ability I had ever possessed to be able to read the notes in the bass clef and to play at the same time with the right hand whilst “reading” the music. I was too scared to explain that I was finding it all far too difficult! What I ended up doing on being assigned a new piece was to take the book of music home, memorise the tune, memorise the notes, memorise which finger should be playing which note, then at the next lesson I’d prop the music on the stand and play the piece entirely from memory. It would be a problem if she said, “Go back to the 7th bar,” or something! I hated it. In the end I refused to keep going back. Over the years I would attempt now and then to pick up piano playing again but found I had a seemingly total inability to grasp what the notes were in the bass clef, let alone how to play with the left and right hand at the same time. This baffled me as I’m still a touch typist and have no difficulty at all in typing with both hands at once without looking down at the keyboard. At one stage I even downloaded one or two programs onto my PC which meant you could play music using your computer keyboard. So instead of reading music notation, you had a string of letters and numbers and punctuation symbols which you typed. It had its moments of entertainment but obviously had severe limitations! The only thing I retained over the intervening years was knowing what the treble clef notes were in musical notation.
Coming across the DecPlay course was wonderful. It’s a system that’s very easy to understand and pick up-you don’t have to have any prior music knowledge-and it was so marvellous to be able to play a tune with both hands from the very start, as outlined in the course. It’s a very friendly group and I really look forward to our twice-monthly Zoom call where you can just sit back with a mug of coffee and listen to demonstrations by Declan and questions and answers, followed by chatting to a small group of other members. There’s also a nice Facebook group for us as well, where you can pick up so much from the videos posted by others. If you are at all hesitant-do please give it a go! I am approaching Christmas in the happy knowledge that I can tackle some of my favourite hymns, carols and Christmas songs after so many years of not being able to play!

Hi, this method makes sense. I wonder how difficult would it be to transition from your number system to playing from traditional scores…?

I placed letters on my keyboard but, I have began with this method and I'm all confused. I'm trying to change letters to numbers in my head which is another brain teaser. Surely it would have been more simple to use letter?
