Whenever my race gets brought up I always ask the question "Can you explain to me how this situation would be objectively different if I were black?" and I have never once had a person provide a legitimate answer.
Because that isn't the point ... they do it because they have decided you are wrong and nothing you say or do (or any questions you ask) will change that.

I watch so many videos such as this one. Read comments like yours. Try to remember all of this logic and apply it to discussions whenever I’m faced with a left person, and they always have a „logical“ counterargument that I do not know counter. So I often end up like an idiot and they kinda „win“ and I’m unable to put a seed of a different perspective In their thoughts.
I know if I’d use your argument, some would find a answer I wouldn’t know to counter. It’s frustrating.

The issue is that the Hollowing of those places is catastrophic. Eventually. But the terminal diagnosis comes before it’s evident that’s what happened. To anybody not from the Pacific Northwest watching this? This is the high water mark of "Woke" These people staff the universities, city and government offices and teach children.
Live on the west side and stay far from the city for a reason. It's embarrassing that this is majority thought pattern in the city. They are like a street gang, blue hair, masks bring race and gender into just about any argument, talking with that condescending up talk accent. Leading and ending arguments with emotion.
It'll get even worse. These people will still be there in 30 years. And the people they teach and then bring in as their co-conspirators will be there even longer.
The truth is that these people can suddenly become very violent and strike out. I do not go to Seattle anymore and I feel the major institutions are off base now for me. The local chain bookstore has a bathroom that is strewn with syringes and often blood on the walls. I refuse to take my children there. Seattle and Portland were once the gems of the west coast!

That is the truly horrific thing about the ideological takeover of fields like sociology. Young people enter these with the very best intentions of helping the most exposed, vulnerable and at risk members of society, and they get fed this incredibly harmful rhetoric of power and identity.

No. Advocacy comes from people wanting to know they are accomplishing good. If they choose to advocate a voice that is supposedly silenced, the success rate is self determined. That means the only people who can say they did wrong are themselves. Contradiction means that you are threatening their sense of being good. If they think too hard, they might tell themselves they are bad, they don't want that.
You can be an advocate for good. Just look at this channel. If you are willing to be wrong and use that to better yourself, you can learn humility and actually do good. That's not control over anyone except yourself.

The difference is that if you disagree, they can't handle it, and they break down. The closest you could get is "advocate ≈ define." And it's not just defining a concept. It's giving a definition and declaring it to be the only option. If you, as a woke, advocate for vegan ballerins, you aren't enforcing for vegan ballerinas, you are enforcing for a group who limits the potential of vegan ballet to be only one thing, and one attribute is their inability to speak for itself. So, advocating the values of vegan ballerinas isn't enforcing the values of vegan ballerinas, it's explaining that if you don't hold the same view they have of the values they think vegan ballerinas have, you're just a bad person.
How they enforce is not through advocacy. How they enforce is through public declarations of shame, accusations of bigotry and bias, coercion, and intimidation.

People love to use "orwellian," or the concepts orwell brings to light, incorrectly. It's a rallying cry to shame ideas, and those who hold them, that's based in hypocrisy. Try being direct. Try pointing out how the other side is using hypocritical ideas without doing so yourself. "artificial life obviously does not matter to ALM" or "the vacation reduction act has increased vacation." And "the new blue deal has been attempted by many for years and the outcome is contradictory to the idea of blue marketing." Clearly stating the problem and the connection will help get across your concepts without the wiggle room of semantics used by opponents who can't deny truth in your words.

Yes, but as much as I disagree with the arguments and ideas of the hippie movement, they actually had reasoning skills and would engage. All what you describe is also what goes on in a cult: "eating eachother the first time they see the other holding different values", etc. "The leader" in this case is some ephemeral "common goal" which doesn't exist except as some vaguely held opinions and sense of group and power which shifts moment to moment. Or maybe it's purely power - "the leader" is the sense of which part of the group is the meanest - the greatest bully - and the least likely to be bullied by the others in the total group - that's "the leader" and they follow it. If the "power" of invulnerability shifts to another way of acting, then they follow it, and the people who are most associated with that way of acting - those who "represent" it the best, can mobilize control over their "brethren". And boy do they love to control.

Either way, I think my point still stands. The lack of consistent tangible goals leads to the selfish nature of each woke person getting caught in a trap of supporting an idea as a goal that isn't supported by a majority of the rest of those who claim the same social outrage. Look at turfs (I dunno how it's spelled) who were in full support of hearing women and respecting their autonomy. They are now an arch nemesis of the movement. Each time they shear off a section of their supporters for not being perfectly in line with their dogma, that sun section sees the beast for what it is. That's how they eat each other. As they can not, and will not specify their ultimate goals and the steps to get there, there is no cult. The cult leader absolutely must point their followers in a direction so they act in a uniform fashion. Even if it's ephemeral, the idea is conveyed to all followers who are pressured to follow that idea. If the individual members have to guess the direction they are heading, they will separate into sects and cliques that are convinced of being right, they infight and are cleaved from the whole.

On the other end of the timeline, just my theory, it could be that when you're young, they might have low self esteem or some other social inhibitions. Later, while in college actively looking for a date, you have time to just skip someone and move on. What's the point of engaging someone else and starting an argument when you want to get off on the right foot to increase your chances of getting along when the goal is to find compatability? When those women are going into social service fields and learning that it is societies fault for all bad things, the guys who don't want want to bother will just leave them, which reinforces misandry and victimhood and the feeling of men being cruel. The guys that do engage them are practicing the "sneaky fk" strategy. They support those views and encourage the behavior, but eventually, they feel like they are "owed" a relationship for all the "work" they put into the friendship. If they do hook up, they get comfortable and stop supporting the women as much. That leaves the feeling of men not being able to be trusted, that they lie and are all cruel, even the ones that seem nice. Eventually, it seems to them that men are all oppressors. The more the pendulum swings towards believing the victim, the fewer people are willing to tell them how they could be wrong about whatever claims they make. Maybe it's just harder and harder to get through to them, the pool of men who seem worthy shrinks, and the amount of friends that see past the annoyance of being around them but also willing to counter their ideas drops dramatically, and the people they can relate to all share the same ideas. If all their friends blame everyone else for all the wrongs, they eventually blame each other, then nobody is worth listening to unless they are clearly saying someone else is victimizing them so they can rally together.

There's a place in society for everyone. Stupid people are great for working fast food and digging ditches. After an encounter with a complete ideolog, one in which I was threatened with violence while I was merely asking questions, my friend said it best... "You can't reason with unreasonable people."
I honestly wasted time on one of these people recently, and it made me feel stupid. Trying to explain to word woman doesn't need to literally exist for women to exist was no worse than talking to a wall. I don’t understand how someone can claim a woman is solely a societal construct then say it's a man's right to be one if he surgically alters his body to mimic a human female's (which has nothing to do with being a woman.)

I first discovered Peter Boghossian through the 'Grievance Studies Affair.' At the time, I was struggling to make sense of all the political and social discourse around me. I became increasingly interested in how to discern truth from rhetoric. Since then, I have grown to greatly appreciate Peter and others like him. I believe his 'street epistemology' methods could significantly help society develop better critical thinking skills to make better sense of the world we live in. I see similarities between you and Peter and hope that you both might consider collaborating in the future. Keep it up Warren! I'll be watching!

My kids grew out of that kind of thinking by their mid teens, it boggles my mind that adults are able to maintain that level of childishness and function in the real world.

I find myself having a very difficult time, especially after the past 8-9 years, comprehending how situations like these are so common place in a period in time where we have so much information at our disposal. I have my beliefs and some have been reinforced over my life and others have changed slightly or even drastically and the views or beliefs that have changed always stem from new information or living through an experience. I want to understand things even if I don’t agree because understanding an opposing idea allows me to either reinforce my own position or admit that I was wrong and work to have a position that I’m confident in. It almost seems like we have an issue with people that adopt a set position without doing any of the work to reach that position which then leads to contradictory or hypocritical arguments that ultimately lead to ad hominem attacks because they get angry they can’t justify or convince another why they are right. I feel like we rarely have productive arguments anymore and that only gets exasperated when certain views and beliefs are shut down completely by those with the power to do so. Sorry for the rambling, I just get frustrated because I understand but at the same time I don’t lol. Love your videos ❤

The people arguing with Boghossian believe truth is just a "social construct" imposed by those who have power on those who do not. Essentially, they believe that might makes right. It's a self-serving claim, because if truth is merely a "social construct" created by those in power, they don't need to debate. In fact, it means there's no such thing as free speech, because speech is just a tool of the powerful. And they also don't need to be truthful, even by their own definition of "truth". They can lie in service of the power struggle.

One of the hardest things to grasp seems to be that you have to be able to be offended and to be offensive. We can't perfectly navigate the balance.
But too often the easier path is to avoid offending. The easier path is to not rock the boat. The most successful path is to not rock the boat. There are lots of examples of people who rocked the boat and did well. But there are more examples of people who Blew the whistle and then ended up "gone". This doesn't mean dead most of the time. It does mean "Not part of the conversation any more">

My question is what was the message? It’s difficult to understand their objections and reasoning responses without that.
I believe that most of their responses were actually ultimatums.
An advocate is someone who defends another who cannot defend themselves on an equal basis. Defending another with the mindset of taking away everything from the other person is not advocating. It’s bullying.
I believe Montesquieu said something like ‘Freedom is when one man can live without fear of another man.’ You could replace person with man if it offends you, but it’s still true.
However, if society limits your freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedoms of all kinds to the rights of 5% of the population, why call it freedom? It’s the worst kind of bullying.
There’s got to be a conversation where this can be settled equally. Neither side of this argument will get everything they want, but everyone should feel comfortable enough to give up a little bit in order to live in peace.

@@sophietemple2728 No, he did however together with 2 others, one a mathematician and the other an author, write a bunch of hoax papers for various fields including gender studies and got some of them published and others about to be published in official respected journals within their fields before a journalist figured out their experiment forcing them to reveal their hand sooner than they intended.
Their goal was to test or show the lack of proper academic rigor and how badly bent the thought process in these fields have gone awry. One of their papers even won awards before they revealed the truth.
So yes, he absolutely understands the topic of discussion, far better than those people coming down to levy their weak objections to him ever could.
