    I did about 250 damage-free deliveries over six years of transporting ending in 2008. My company told us during orientation that we were to NEVER backup with a trailer. Upon delivery, about 90% of dealers would say: “go ahead and back that ninety thousand dollar fifth wheel in between those other two ninety thousand dollar trailers”. I would always say: “no problem... just sign this no driver damage section of the invoice and I’ll put it anywhere you want.”

    Great information that is helping me decide if I want to pursue RV Transport. As an FYI, the break away emergency for the brakes is not supposed to be attached to the hitch per DOT regulations. The break away cable is supposed to be attached to any other location on the frame of the truck because the entire hitch assembly can break off the truck and the brakes would not activate the way you attached the cable. In most states, if you get stopped for a DOT inspection it is a fine for having the cable attached to the hitch.

    If your worried about rocking away from your ball. Back it up, set the emergency brake and your done. No need to finesse the transmission.

    Absolutely. Not what ya think it is. It’s not for everyone.
    Delivered campers for 3.5 years. Delivered many and ran hard.
    Started with this H company and it was the worst. They literally flat out lie to ya. They prey on the newbies who apply and don’t know any better. To anyone considering delivery campers. Please do your research and remember If it sounds to good to be true it usually is.
    Here’s how it works. The new drivers are attracted to how the driver job is advertised. (Like a Video packed full of BS). They spend thousands on advertising.
    The driver applying jumps through all the hoops during orientation. Some go as far as purchasing a new truck to pull with. They actually encourage and say that your truck can only be so old to try to get you to be locked in and stuck hustling paying for a new truck. I called them out on this. After working for them already for several weeks and they called me and told me my truck was too old and I needed to consider getting into a new truck. I politely told them that’s not gonna happen this truck only has 58,000 original miles on it and it looks brand new as well. The truck I was running a 99 F350 that was sent to classy chassis in Indiana right after it was purchased new by original owner. The second owner purchased it with 32k miles on it. And that was my father. I bought it from Dad with 56k . (Google: classy chassis in Indiana ).
    They tried desperately over the phone to talk me into buying a new truck. I told them they can say whatever they want but I’m not buying a new truck. As far as I’m concerned I already have a new truck . They said they would have to inspect it. When I got to the yard and the guy came out with a clipboard looking all official and walked around the truck and then walked around it slowly then come up to me and look me in the eye and said I think this is the best looking truck in the fleet. And started talking about designating me for pulling show units to shows. I did 2-shows and told them I’m not doing another. That’s a whole jacked up deal.
    All the time during orientation they are painting this adventurous beautiful high paying position with the company. The new driver starts delivering campers. 90%of return trips your empty. Hardly ever A backhaul. Burning up fuel racking up mileage on truck. By the time the new driver figures out they are not making much more than cost. But they try hard to make it work. They have a truck to pay for. A family at home they trying to provide for. That company doesn’t give a rip. Several weeks maybe months go by before its realized it’s just not gonna work. But they have delivered many trailers in the process before calling it. How does the company see it ?...NEXT !
    There is literally thousands of dollars between the MSRP and dealers cost laying on the table. No reason but greed for not paying a respectable delivery charge. Shows on delivery papers even a respectable fuel surcharge paid on delivering the unit...which most every delivery company is taking more than half of that instead of giving it to drivers. Many times in delivery unit at dealer. They are treating drivers like second class citizens. Some not all but many way out of line and disrespectful with treatment of drivers delivering the product that they are selling. Their bread and butter. Never could figure that one out because there’s a good chance you will deliver another to them . But at one point many CEOs of camper manufacturers in northern Indiana held a meeting/event at the RV Haul of Fame facility inviting drivers to attend to seek input as to why they can’t get drivers to deliver campers. The questions results ? Number one reason...pay. Drivers could not make much more than cost of operations. Many running in the red in hopes things would get better only to get truck repossessed. Second reason was dealerships disrespectful treatment of drivers on delivery’s.
    Oh they really like working the retired folks looking for something to do. Let that one sink in.
    I could go for hours on this with many examples of rotten situations experienced. But not and end it with this if you are considering this. At orientation ask questions. Ask the awkward uncomfortable questions as well. And remember: none of these company’s care about anything but getting the units delivered. You as a delivery driver they don’t give a care because there’s another driver right behind you that went to the same Orientation class with the same line of BS they sold you they sold them. They hold orientation classes of 15-20 newbies every week for a reason.
    They know what works They’ve been doing it for years.
    Thinking 🤔 of the many drivers actually losing it knowing what kind of position they are now in. Family counting on them. Now further in debt than when they started. Seen several.
    This and much more happened in this testimony of my experience doing this.
    Ive done the best to my ability possible to not add anything to this thats not accurate. And I’m certainly not taking anything away from it either.
    knowingly and intentionally ruined many honest hard working good people’s lives operating in this way. They know exactly what they are doing.
    Next !!!

      You're a hundred percent right! Rv hauling is a joke!! You kill yourself driving for nothing.
      I started doing rv hauling a few months ago. I spent thousands of dollars to get a new truck and all the equipment needed fifth wheel, hitches ecct..
      I'm more broke than when I started. I swear if I would of listened to a friend not to do it and get myself in so much debt with a $80k truck
      I have no money and no savings. The only thing I have left is really bad back pains from sitting down for so many hours.

      If you are looking to make a living at this I would not advise.
      It is absolutely insane how much they lie during orientation.
      Even if you’re just looking to travel the responsibility it’s just not worth it.
      Delivery charge is passed on to the consumer when the unit is purchased. Yet the driver delivering gets a very small portion of that. I did both driveway and Tow away. It’s an incredible amount of hustle for a little bit of income.
      I went back to the big trucks.

    Great points. I believe the break away legally needs to be hooked the frame of the truck. I have a cable looped around the frame just ahead of the receiver hitch bolt on location. Then I hook the trailer breakaway cable to that loop every time. Does synergy require the torsion bars on every trailer?

    Since you're not allowed to sleep in the unit, why don't they put the keys in a sealed envelope? That way, you could still enter it in an emergency, but you would be free from anybody potentially saying that you entered it and say you broke or stole something.

      Michael Green Hey Michael! I’ve mentioned it many times that we have to operate this as a business. It’s not for everyone. Depending on all the person’s individual financial factors vs how hard they plan on running ect. people can get wrecked. People don’t hold money for breakdowns back, maintenance, operate within a budget, they eat out every meal, they don’t run hard enough to support their wild non existent budget, work on getting their operating costs down over time and more. Then, when they have done nothing towards building a business, say that “you can’t make any money in this industry”.. there’s a high turn over rate because people treat it like side hustle bonus money. I’m with you

    How's business? I've read from multiple sources that people are buying RV's and campers in record numbers in lieu of urban housing. Swathes of folks with jobs able to be done remotely -- are leaving their draconian cities for the open road, safe from violent mobs and Karens.
    And those that aren't leaving have at least turned into preppers, with a camper being a big priority #1
    So just kinda curious if you got any insider info on sales? You able to work as much as you want right now?

      Aeroplane Chalk business is booming! Hundreds of trailers and getting paid extra in this booming season. This will not last forever. I definitely believe there’s a new trend of people going camping over hotels and close places. Everything I hear from dealerships is that they can’t keep the trailers in stock as well. Few bigger dealerships are pleading with Transport companies to bring theirs first haha not sure how well that’ll work out for them. That’s as much as I know or hear! • @HighMileageHelper
      @HighMileageHelper  4 роки тому +2

      Syl C Nope! I happen to be spoiled with living so close but the major of transporters live all around the country. They dead head to IN and then take loads all around from there. It’s best to find a pattern that works for you. If I were you I would book a load going to WY or CA out west and then return to IN to grab a SC run to get you home when you want. The difference between me and someone living far away would be just when will you be deadheading? I dead head back home after a trip. You’d deadhead on the way up to IN to start. We’d both deadhead back from the far end of the route back to IN. Some companies like Horizon have more reloads around the country so there’s less deadhead all together, but it’s very tough to find consistent reloads. Hopefully I answered the question. Let me know how I can help further! God bless!

    • @sylc6688
      @sylc6688 4 роки тому +1

      @@HighMileageHelper Wow thanks for your answer. So I would do SC to IN then IN to CA, but I'd need to find a load from CA to IN and if I can't find anything I could be stuck for few days ? Also I lived in USA for only 9 months so not a lot of work and driving history I wonder if that can be an issue, I dont want to buy a truck and find out they reject my application.

    • @HighMileageHelper
      @HighMileageHelper  4 роки тому +2

      Syl C loads to IN or nearby aren’t a guarantee. So potentially empty to IN the loaded to CA and then potentially empty back to IN and then loaded back home or nearby. That’s what is most likely. The empty parts depends more on your company’s reload department finding trailers consistently around the country to haul. There’s no promise they can consistently come through on
