Love Eminem. Had no problem with Castle and Arose. Like those songs and the vulnerability. But I've spent the last 12 years getting pop records from my favorite rapper. Loved Kamikaze and MTBMB cause he was just rapping on hip hop beats. These Demons, No Regrets, Lock It up💣💣💣💣
Honestly at this point, listening to em and complaining he’s too wordy is equivalent to listening to tech9 and complaining he raps too fast. Like what did you expect. Although, music to be murdered by felt like he had better flows, and more modern sound. It synced with the wordiness much better. I also don’t think em realizes that to regular people he sounds too choppy because of all the syllable stuff he’s trying to emphasize. If he made it less choppy, than both regular ear people can enjoy it as well as rap nerds who would could detect his rhyming skills and appreciate that as well.

Em also needs to understand that just because you are rhyming every syllable doesnt mean its quality content though. He def gets more hate than he should but old sxhool em fans didnt like his change. And lets not forget why he changed... drugs. Also people listen for different reasons... some people love schemes, some like flow, some like the actual message or word choice, beats, etc etc... Imo his beat choice was awful in those years. A lot of corny accents and beats.
I wasn’t a fan of Revival because of the pop songs, I had no idea of the track leaks, I heard it on release without input of critics. It had some gems people are sleeping or hating on for no reason. But over all, not my favorite Eminem project.
Eminem creates better music with each album release. His newest music is the best. However, his first five albums are great, too. Eminem says it best; “we’re not listening with the same ear.”
People are arguing (and sometimes even missing) Em's points on "Revival's" negative reception. "It didn't sound good; that's why it's trash! Blah blah blah..." "Like Home" could've sounded like "White America" or "Mosh" and they STILL would've trashed it just because he went at Trump (even people who hated him just as much as Em if not more). "Bad Husband" could've sounded like the title track to Jay's "4:44" (with a sampled chorus replacing X Ambassadors' vocals) and they STILL would've trashed it just because he talked about his relationship with Kim for the 80th time; a few people even said he was SIMPING on that song! "Walk On Water" could've had a Dre beat that sounded like "The Message" off of "Chronic 2001" and they STILL would've trashed it because they felt he makes too many "self-loathing" & "whiny" songs. That album would've got trashed just based off of the content ALONE regardless of sound...and even without corny bars (which in my personal opinion was only a couple or 3).
Em is deluded about revival lol. Even if people THINK something is gonna be trash for whatever reason, what happens if it's not? people go 'wow I thought this was gonna be trash but it's amazing'. Him thinking people are still gonna think it's trash after hearing it, even if it's not is stupid. It's the bad beats, the bad hooks and bad writing and songs which people do not like. Has nothing to do with a preconception.
