Making the series "Penguins of Madagascar" was honestly the best decision ever. As a child I used to watch it religiously and even now I absolutely love King Julien, his crew and the penguins. They're hilarious and iconic.
@@acekizakura1531 I surprisingly remember the story kind of, because they made us watch it like 3 times in school or something. Some rich mouse gets a new roommate who flushes him away into the underground, he has to team up with love interest girl to get back but then finds out about the plights of the under-grounders, for which he decided to save the day against the evil frog people who are planning to wash away the mouse utopia to replace it with frog kind. It was a pretty meh film, as far as I can remember. A film which has 7 hit in the nuts jokes in row is not fine art.
What makes Madagascar stick around my mind still is a dream I once had, which was just the first movie, only difference was that Melman was a hyena and he was a bit of an antagonist, there to be a black mirror to Alex as he gave into his carnivorous hunger for meat with little to no hesitation and shatter Marty's fantasy image of the wild even more by him turning from a more ignored friend to dangerous fiend.
Yeah, I had seen the first film a few times as a kid, but having not owned the Madagascar films The Penguins of Madagascar series was my only link to it. Naturally, I gained a bigger connection with said penguins. And as much as I find it rude to say it, Jeff Bennet's voice for Kowalski will always be my favorite. He just brings so much life and hilarious energy to his character! Just, the series was great. I think it would be interesting to talk about it, because hardly anyone brings it up which is a damn shame.
With Alex's birthmark, all they needed was one line like "I usually put concealer over it" and they would have been good. If he calls it ugly of something then you get a haha funny misunderstanding.
I just realized... Marty has a black tuff of hair in the front of his Mane...while every other Zebra has a white tuff of hair Marty IS black with White stripes
mind freak: If you look in the background, in the frame where Marty's Looking Back at Alex, you'll notice two other zebras who are also black with white stripes.
That show was essentially Nick's Sonic Boom, in the sense that it was so much better than it had any right to be, especially considering the material they're working with
It's actually my least favourite. I loved the concept of whether or not the MC will snap and eat everyone and it's completely original, no other movie has done it in my knowledge. And the third is my favourite. I still think it's the absolute best some of the juvenile humor aside
I think it's still 1 > penguins >= 2 > 3 for me. I can agree 2 had the better plot (and yea, the climax was balls to the wall amazing while 1's... happened), but it had like 4-5 different ones and I was only engaged in like 2 of them, so that probaly didn't help. 1's was pretty straightforward with Madagascar and then the penguins sideplot with a hilarious anti-climax to all of it and I think it was better off for it. Not to a point where I was dying for a sequel but I enjoyed it. I agree with Schraf that 3 was the worst. It pretty much took the worst elements of 1 (weaker, sometimes forced humor, being listless) and 2 (more unbalanced characterization, flimsy-ish premise) and combined them, all while adding even more unmemorable characters in the process. Good animation in certain scenes, but that's it.
I think when the movie went to Alex going feral I think it was a realization for Marty because he hangs behind while everyone else runs and stares at his best friend looking at him with hunger and then runs off. Looking at Alex and being chased by him made Marty realize that being in the wild and having freedom comes with a high cost, like being hunted down by your best friend you've known since childhood. Technically it *is* still about Marty but now it's included how different Alex and Marty are, not just being prey and predator, but in personality too. Alex being in the wild has made him go back to his roots as a predator and he's terrified of himself and has made himself an enclosure like the zoo. Marty being in the wild makes him feel free and he doesn't want to leave and go back into a cage. Don't know what else to add really, I think I made my point.
U sir did in fact made a point. I think that is one of those reasons why Alex didn’t want to go to the wild because he feared that he would go feral and try to kill Marty by returning to his animalistic route. That explains why it was a bad idea for the animals to leave the zoo because of Alex turning into a natural carnivore if they begin to live in the wild.
@@ChelseaPariella that’s why I said “I think”, indicating that I could be either right or wrong. Plus Alex eats stake so surely he would know he’s eating a dead cooked animal and of course the first film didn’t utilise Alex’s character, but it’s possible that he was hiding the truth, not wanting anyone to know that he could become feral if he were to be in the wild.
Someone had to model, animate and render Moto Moto's butt. EDIT: Out of the thousands of comments I have made on this website over the years: from artistic critics, to philosophical insights, to political discourse, to human rights advocacy, to supporting communities of internet-friends, to talking about the importance of science & justice, to writing the most absurd stories for entertainment and sharing my soul to complete strangers to find that they too reciprocate my inner thoughts none has garnered as many likes as this one. And I wouldn't have it any other way.
I loved the Madagascar movies like hell as a kid, and the nostalgia has hardly rubbed off over the years. They're the gold standard for simple "turn your brain off and laugh at funny animals" kids movies and I'd sooner rewatch them as an adult than any of the mediocre tripe Illumination keeps dishing out.
@Luke A My name is Yoshikage Kira. I'm 33 years old. My house is in the northeast section of Morioh, where all the villas are, and I am not married. I work as an employee for the Kame Yu department stores, and I get home every day by 8 PM at the latest. I don't smoke, but I occasionally drink. I'm in bed by 11 PM, and make sure I get eight hours of sleep, no matter what. After having a glass of warm milk and doing about twenty minutes of stretches before going to bed, I usually have no problems sleeping until morning. Just like a baby, I wake up without any fatigue or stress in the morning. I was told there were no issues at my last check-up. I'm trying to explain that I'm a person who wishes to live a very quiet life. I take care not to trouble myself with any enemies, like winning and losing, that would cause me to lose sleep at night. That is how I deal with society, and I know that is what brings me happiness.Although, if I were to fight I wouldn't lose to anyone.

@@darao.4907 The sad consequence of dividing plotlines not only for each of the 4 but also for the penguins. Considering how Alex and Melman/Gloria's stories are the only ones to receive any sort of climax, its clear that Marty was the one left out to dry out of all the stuff happening.

Mort had a thing for Julien's feet. It wasn't addressed too much in the films, but it was brought up a heck ton in the Netflix series "All Hail King Julien", and I'd assume in the Penguins show as well.
REAL QUICK ANALYSIS ON WHY MAD GAS CAR 1's ANIMATION WAS SO WONKY: If you ever watch this movie again, pay special attention to the eyes of the characters. You'll notice that they never really focus on what they're looking at, and are usually either a little crosseyed or the pupils are skewed in different directions. Also, there's a hell of a lot of squash and stretch happening for even the smallest movements, giving the characters a feel of surreality.
TheSeerLlama it’s REALLY sad wen this Radom you tube comment has more knowledge on animashon then literally the ENTIRE cartoon reviewing UA-cam seen combined.
this is actually probably the thing i enjoyed most about the movie? like everything else varied from "wow" to "thanks i hate it", but the animation is literally amazing. like the stylistic choices alone already look really unique and really great, and i like how instead of how a lot of cartoons try and go for smooth likes with the occasional corner, Madagascar did the exact opposite. all the characters are full of angles, with only a few smooth spots. the only exception i can think of is Gloria, and even she has quite a few sharp corners in her design. and this is just the art alone, the animation as a whole was also amazing. most animated movies and tv shows (both 2d and 3d) usually go for a smooth animation style because smooth = professional, but this movie was deliberately made to have a certain pop up outta nowhere kind of animation, and it was awesome. this probably made like no sense but whatever lol
Does anyone else get annoyed when you’re scrolling through the comments of a video, but then an ad plays during the video and it takes you back to the top?
You know it's a good movie when you completely forgot about its existence for a while but when you're reminded about it, all the memories come back vividly like it was yesterday
Am I the only one who thinks that Marty completely exaggerated when Alex couldn’t recognize him among all the zebras? What does that have anything to do with proof of friendship? He literally looks the same as all the other zebras!
Pretty funny thing is the diference between what people think of the penguins from these movies. I mean people found them funny and like them in the English version. However im from Poland and in the Polish version the penguins are probably THE most beloved animated characters of all time becouse their jokes are so much better and the voice actors are just perfect, theres more to it but i just cant explain in how many little details theire better. Its kind of sad for me that no one from outside of Poland will ever expirience this becouse of the language barrier. It will just remain an inside joke
Here in Hungary they're also pretty popular, there's lotta Hungarian TV channels that straight up airs the cartoon, not even on cartoon related channels lol
Just like Hoodwinked is more enjoyable in Norwegian because of the accents given to the characters. You sorta have to know what people sound like in the different regions. The best character in the dub is the wolf.
“People tend to not appreciate anything” That quote applies to me and the first Angry Birds movie. Without it we wouldn’t have gotten the sequel which is where people actually liked it for a change.

Moto Moto memes aside, Madagascar 2 really is the best of the trilogy. It has the best Character Development and Moments of the series.
Thank you Frodo.

Ah ha ha ha ha! Good one!
@@KrisDoesMovies_ Thank you! Also, I'm a 'ma'am' but it's okay, still appreciate that I made sense!
@@xxjade_chocolate_rosexx3296 my bad for calling u sir :)
@@KrisDoesMovies_ The first film didn't utilize that very much where it would establish Alex's character.

REAL QUICK ANALYSIS ON WHY MAD GAS CAR 1's ANIMATION WAS SO WONKY:
If you ever watch this movie again, pay special attention to the eyes of the characters.
@@MW-ym8fp are you okay
this is actually probably the thing i enjoyed most about the movie? like everything else varied from "wow" to "thanks i hate it", but the animation is literally amazing. like the stylistic choices alone already look really unique and really great, and i like how instead of how a lot of cartoons try and go for smooth likes with the occasional corner, Madagascar did the exact opposite. all the characters are full of angles, with only a few smooth spots. the only exception i can think of is Gloria, and even she has quite a few sharp corners in her design. and this is just the art alone, the animation as a whole was also amazing. most animated movies and tv shows (both 2d and 3d) usually go for a smooth animation style because smooth = professional, but this movie was deliberately made to have a certain pop up outta nowhere kind of animation, and it was awesome.
