Its surprising people are criticizing the beautiful rendition of this particular Rabindrasangeet. I am myself against too much modification of the same. But here the essence is intact.
How come modern Bengali songs with yoodles and poetry like singing merged with Rabindrasangeet is not seen critically? All of a sudden in the midst of a song, a line from a Rabindrasangeet will be pitched in to maintain the commercial viability and also the forced "Amra Bangali' feeling.
This song has beautifully held the essence of a Rabindrasangeet and simaltaneously given it a new flavour.

এই গানটা শোনা শুরু করলে কখনোই টানা ১০-১২ বারের কমে থামতে পারিনা। এত অসাধারণ কম্পোজিশন এ পরিবেশন করা হয়েছে! হরিহরণজীর স্বরে গানটায় আরও অদ্ভুত মায়া যোগ হয়েছে।
ইস ! কত দরদ দিয়ে গাইলেন। এমন দরদ নিয়ে যদি শুনতে আর অনুভব করতে পারতাম তবে হয়তো থরথর করে কাঁপত দেহ, রিম্ ঝিম্ ঝিম্ ঝিম্ তালে বর্ষা নেমে আসতো চোখে পুঞ্জিভূত মেঘ থেকে।

have heard from Debabrata Biswas to Lata Mangeshkar to sraboni sen in this song, and found that the tune is no different. One can check the notation in Swarabitan. Neither there is any flaw in singing. SInce Hariharn is a classical singer, he has captured the "meer" of the song very perfectly. But still so many people keep saying rubbish about it. The song is very well sung . The additional music in between might be a bit disturbing . But the singer shouldn't be blamed for that.

Actually spelling according to Rabindranath Tagore's writing is শাঙন . So "Shangana gagane" pronunciation is not incorrect at all. Even Kanika Bandopadhtay also pronounced the same. She was named "Mohar" by Rabindranath Tagore himself.

Very true, Di. Bhanusingh Thakurer Padabali was all written, not in Bangla but in Brajabuli, following the pronunciation rules of the Maithili dialect. So, Hariharanji's pronunciation is proper according to the original Brajabuli.
This is the best version of the song probably.Tagore himself would have felt proud I think with.

But he did with lots and lots of established composition. Isn`t it a little hypocritic. How can You restrict creativity? Please, just Tagore bomb people. This one is far better than the original composition I`ve heard in years.

I like both the singers immensely. But some extension and rendition sounds our ears, it seems as if Tagore's didn't know what was appropriate.
There are some creation, needs to be followed in full stop and comma. Little bit of here and there that changes the genre.

Amidst lot of criticism on this song, I personally feel this is one of the best recreation of Tagore songs... How the composers amalgamated Indian Classical music with Rabindra Sangeet, yet keeping the contemporary element alive, is commendable... And Hariharan's voice is adding to the magic...
