Good to see others reviewing these products. I purchased my topwater back in 2021. I did not see the ends of your box where the spring and mechanisms are located, but on mine the quality control was not there. I am working via the person I got mine from, so I will wait to do my review. Great review. I bought lights and all for mine, then came across the spring issues, so held off. I was going to mount lights on my kayak rack, but then thought since i built some battery boxes, I would just mount them in the box. I went with tape mounted puck lights so I did not have to drill holes in the box. Thanks for the review, and yes here in TX they will take a beating. I designed my Kayak trailer so that all gear mounted on can be easily removed. Review and build videos come soon.
T3 what was wrong with your spring ends? The only issue I have had is where the spring came loose once, I do think the arms could be more sturdy, I plan to launch my own version of this one day.
be sure to tag me when you do that review video! Ill be insulating mine here soon with spray foam and I actually had those cheap led switches that look like a like switch from HEB in there for a bit, but I dont like having to change out batteries. ha
the one im designing will have the option for a lift n stow, so you pull a release pin and then it will come out and over tilted at a 45 degree angle for easier access.
Do you think it could comfortably hold four to six trolling rods (lighter setup, for fresh water/lakes)? Just worried if the reel size with line counter would be limiting factor, how well they could fit in there.
It has its shortcomings but overall I've enjoyed mine. It does what it was meant to do. The ridges add strength. Glue some white foam on top of the box to insulate and reflect sun heat.
Thanks for this review! Just ordered one after doing some research. Seems like a great purchase. Found this to be better than the diy rod tubes out of pvc.
Brandon I agree, I researched so much that it made my head hurt. I have some improvements that could be made and it's on my list to come out out with my own.
Thank you for showing the locking mechanism. I needed to see before deciding to purchase!
Hey no problem, I recently added insulation to the inside and im waiting on a 12v mppt for the inside lights.. I will be testing in the coming weeks.

@@andrewlongron one was mounted in a different location on the lid, so the box does not open fully on one side.
@@andrewlongron ah yeah good point.

The folds on top add strength. A sleek box would flex like crazy. Then lock alignment issue would be many times worse.
will this box hold 8ft rods without them touching the metal plates at the end?
Klash I dont think so, I think the limit is 7'6" because the overall length is 9 ft.
Solid review👌 That light kit was a genius idea!!
👍👍👍
I know right? the perfect thing it needs! the kit is so cheap too!
@@andrewlongron do you have links for the light kit idea you came up with?
+ 1 for peace of mind. Buy once, cry once.
This should be on a tshirt lol bc I totally feel the same way!
I’m pretty sure if this was really made out of carbon fiber, it would be 8 to 10 times more than what it cost lol
