  • Get ready to be transported back in time with the Martin D 18 Authentic 1939 VTS Aged Acoustic Guitar. This stunning instrument is a perfect blend of vintage style and modern technology, featuring hide glue construction and hand-scalloped X-bracing for authentic tone and playability. The Vintage Tone System (VTS) ages the wood to replicate the sound of a vintage Martin, making this guitar sound like it's been played for 80 years. Not only does it sound like a vintage guitar, it also looks like one, with its methodically, painstakingly distressed finish, inside and out, in all the right places. This guitar is truly a tactile, visual, and auditory experience that will take you back to the 1930s. Don't miss out on this limited stock, watch the review video now!

    I own one of these and it a pretty phenomenal Martin, and it weighs just under 4 pounds. Most folks who play mine believe it's not a full size Dread, just because of it's light weight. They changed the nut width and went with rear-shifted bracing I'm pretty sure in late 1938. Martin applied a super thin-finish that has a different formulation so it's easier to craze it. Then they spent a lot of time putting wear marks on the fingerboard and edges of the bridge. And then they distress it a bit. I'm a fan of the Aged treatment on the D-18 1939 AA. So, when Martin produced a 000-28 Custom Authentic 1937 Aged, I knew it was going to be a great guitar too. Great video!

    Love mine and agree with all your assessments. The aging is tasteful and makes you not feel bad about playing it or getting a ding. The weight is unbelievably light, crazy when you pull it out of the case. And the sound is amazing.

    Glad Cooper gave this D-18A a proper flatpickin’ workout. Stunning guitar… IMO, the best guitar Martin makes. I demo’d the D-18A once, preferred my D-18GE, but hardly a clinical study. This one sounds absolutely amazing. I actually traded a 000-18GE for a D-18GE in even better condition. Nothing wrong with the 000-18, but ironically, I liked my 000x1ae so much, I didn’t mind trading it, cuz the GE and A are the best of the best! No disrespect for the D-28 lovers, right next to them on the top shelf.

    And honestly to me this sounds more versatile and less country then the 37. I'd say the 37 is also better for bluegrass. In my opinion this sounds like a standard d-18 on steroids but with some age. Reminds me of a 1950s d-18. I think it's a perfect singer-songwriter guitar I think it's a perfect solo guitar I think it's extremely versatile and smooth
    Just like the big guy said as soon as you said it was a More Country Focus guitar I can see it all over his face. I feel the opposite just like him it's versatile

    Pretty sure in 1939 they went to the 1-11/16" nut, but not sure when they moved brace placement back (I know the '41 is rear-shifted, but don't know about the '39)

      @rogershinton7483 Рік тому

      My D-18 had high action 3 years ago, when purchased, and was adjusted through the truss rod adjustment in the sound hole. Assuming the same could be done here. Doesn't every " good" guitar have a truss rod ?

    • @ericecklund676
      @ericecklund676 Рік тому +2

      @@rogershinton7483 This 39AA has a T-Bar non-adjustable truss rod in the neck. The only way to change the relief on this neck is to re-fret it with compression frets. If you have to have an adjustable truss rod, this is NOT the guitar for you. The Standard series D-18 has an adjustable truss rod in the neck.

    Not interested in the least in an aged guitar. Torrefaction is one thing. But I don’t get the whole relic-ing thing. I wouldn’t mind a new one made to old specs, necessarily. But if I pay for a new guitar, I want it to look like a new guitar. Period. I feel the same way about denim jeans, BTW. I’ll age it myself, thank you very much. Sweet sounding guitar, though.

      It's alot more than just that boss. Jesus.
      Hand scalloped AUTHENTIC bracing. Takes a hell of alot more work.
      High grade Adirondack top
      VTS treatment to that top also
      Aged hand rubbed finish because of how thin it is. Alot thinner and harder.
      Hide glue which you literally have to be a master to use. So every joint is more precise
      Speaking of joints, they're all hand NOTCHED together inside the guitar
      Better quality mahogany
      Better quality ebony
      Better tuners
      Much thicker piece of mahogany for the neck
      1930s long saddle and low profile thin bridge
      It's built by the best Luthiers they have as I said too
      All while weighing under 4 pounds. They're a work of art
      And maybe for a real 1939?😂 A real 39 would cost you about 50 grand boss. Maybe more
      This guitar is a steal compared to what's comparable out there. Idk what world you're living in

      @@el34glo59 I'm gonna say YOU are the one not getting it. To start with the title is insanely misleading which is why I posted. When they used key words like "authentic" yes it is a REAL Martin.. but what it is NOT is an Authentic 1939 Martin. "Aged" is also a misleading word when tied to the first misleading descriptors.
      Martin guitars are still a strong and respected brand. As long as webbies don't kill that reputation hyping up their guitars like a side bro in a rap video. Intelligent people who passed reading comprehension understand proper use of words and how they are put together to form sentences. We didn't learn to speak getting high in mommies basement smokin weed and watching Teletubbies.
      Last as nice as that guitar is it sounds NOTHING like an OG 1939. Not the same woods, not the same glues, not the same finish, and surely NOT the same builders. Anyone who knows ANYTHING about guitars or luthiery knows you can have 10 people build the same guitar from the same specs with the same materials and you will get 10 different sounding and feeling guitars.
      Which brings us right back around to you. I play my guitars nearly every day and cycle thru them several times a week. I am not the greatest of players by any means but I do post videos of me playing. When looking at your channel I see not a single video so your credibility is ZERO. To me you are just another troll account talking shit.

      @@borgonianevolutionNo one said its a 39. But it's the closest thing. I don't like the beat up look either. However, it's the best sounding new production Martin I've ever played. Ans I've played them all. So it's a trade off. You can get one that you age yourself from playing, that won't sound like this, unless it's also has the bracing, hide glue, t bar, etc and you wait 60 years, or get this. Or spend 40-50k to get this sound but better, yes.
      I didn't learn to speak. Kid, take it down a notch. You're trying to hard
      It also is the same wood, is the same glue, and basically is the same finish. They used Red Spruce and mahogany. Same as this guitar. They actually aged the top to get even closer to AN AGED PRE WAR MARTIN. The aged finish is the closest thing to the original nitro that Martin has ever used. They even got the lower and upper bouts almost exactly the same side and shape this time. You cleary need an education
      I couldn't care less about you posting videos on UA-cam btw 😂. Like that adds credibility
      No one ever said it was an OG 39. That's why your comment made no sense. If it was, again it would be 50k. They never tried to deceive anyone. You again need to learn about Martin Authentics
