Hello! I love wings of fire, and have seen many MAPS before, and id love to participate! But ive never participated in a MAP before so if i could maybe have an explanation and i might join! :)
Sure thing! In a map (or Multi-Animator Project), a song or audio is split it into several parts. Then each person chosen for the map will work on one or two parts, fully animating a single section of the overall project. Once their part is done, they give the finished animation to the map host (usually posting it on their UA-cam, sending it over discord, or through a google drive link), and the map host edits all of the parts together into one completed map. The coolest thing about them is that everyone gets to contribute to making something super cool, and you get to see everyone’s styles all working together!
On the participants side of things, it usually starts with seeing a map call like this. Some maps will have application processes for parts, but this one is beginner friendly so you don’t have to worry about all that! Just read the rules, and comment that you want a part by using the code word (the code word is listed in the rules doc, so I know you read them) and specifying which part you’d like. Parts 9 and 13 are pretty short- so if you’re nervous about taking a part for the first time, you should consider one of those! Once the map host tells you that you’ve gotten the part, you can start working on it. To get the audio, I usually screen record the part from the map call, but someone else may have tips to get it another way. You can use any animation app you want, then send the map host the finished part and ✨voila✨ just sit back and wait for the finished product.
