So, there was adhesive scraped off the edge of the screen. Is that adhesive not replaced? I was in a battery store and overheard the clerk quote a price of $189.00 to replace the battery in this iphone 12! I thought the battery must be really expensive, but no, they run around $40.00! So, the labor, at least at this one shop, is $150.00!!! I thought "I wonder if I can do this at home?" Yup! Here I am watching this video! I already have an iFixit toolkit, and the job doesn't look difficult, so I'll do it myself if ever needed.
I have been using my iPhone 12 pro for a year and already the battery needs service. Been using it pretty extensively watching hours of videos in 2x speed but still very disappointed in the longevity of the battery. Now the battery goes very quickly down to 1% and it can last hours at 1%. Tried calibrating it but replacement seems like the only way to keep using it...... At this point I'm considering switching back to my OnePlus 5T and give apple the middle finger tbh.
You’re probably using a non-certified cable. Non-certified cables use cheap parts and have almost no proper chips to properly charge the phone. Commonly, the tristar chip goes out due to this issue. In other cases, further motherboard damage happens. In rare cases, the whole battery literally just dies. But usually, the battery cells are damaged causing the battery to die out quickly.
Why would your iphone 12 battery be broken as of now? It has literally only been 5 months since the release date when this vid was uploaded. What's going on.
I have replaced my iPhone battery and I noticed that they could have avoided burying the wires so deep under other parts. I believe they did this intentionally, making it time consuming so that more people will just get a newer faster phone than fixing the old one that could last another 2 years. Since when iPhones have become consumable?
I am not really a fan of giving apple all my money but battery replacements arent that expensive and you get the best quality and you wont get the battery message
But why should Apple be the ONLY option for repair. Say your running something like an IPhone 5, I doubt Apple still repair a those, even if they did then the repair would cost as much as the device. What happens when newer unrepairable devices like the X/11/12 become that old? Your screwed.
You could still do it yourself or go to your local repair shop they would still charge you about 60-80$ but then you are greeted with a important battery message so when X/11/12 get older you may be thinking of getting a new phone. For instance take the iPhone 5, you can get one on E-bay for 25-50$ and if you need to replace the battery if you use a good battery like from iFixit they are still 20$ so you may be thinking of just getting a new phone as the other models drop down more and more in price every year. My iPhone 6s plus had a dead battery (Would shut off randomly and the battery lasted like 10min) and also a cracked screen I also had the phone for 3 years so i just upgraded to an XS Max. Sure the parts weren’t that expensive to repair it but you don’t know how long it will get software support or how much will it be worth in 2-3 years, I sold mine for 80$ which wasnt a bad offer at the time.
@@tospoooky4me-417 the issue is that if you replace the screen on newer Iphone and samsung A series phones, you end up losing support for things like trutone, in screen fingerprint scanners and you get warning messages. Similar thing with batteries. Modern devices have gotten fast enough that upgrade cycles more than every 3ish years serves no real purpose to the average person. Although resale values will still plummet, I believe current devices need to be longer lasting, not the other way around. This argument does go for software too, although I could care less about software updates, because I run custom OS skins, I realize that devices should ship with at least 3 years of OS updates with another year or two of security patches. I think my argument can be summed up in this one sentence - we as consumers should demand better, more cost effective and resource concious devices. I already have an iFixit toolkit, and the job doesn't look difficult, so I'll do it myself if ever needed.
dang that's insane. a store near me quoted for 60 bucks...but I already bought the kits haha. I'm just gonna do it.
Apple store will practically replace most new iPhone batteries for 100.00 or less, iPhone 12 only cost 89.99
@@johnjkizer6399 yea my repair shop does it for about the same price as well, i think it was just that repair shop. oem as well
Reinstall your display adhesive… why not show this step? Waterproofing the phone is pretty important.
Doing it half ass.
Thanks for the video! It makes me realize why it is so expensive to replace the battery than iphone 11

By complicating the simple procedure of replacing a battery, Apple earned many millions from the service.
At this point I'm considering switching back to my OnePlus 5T and give apple the middle finger tbh.
it didn't even come out for a year
You’re probably using a non-certified cable.
I’m a profesional phone repair technician btw.
@Joshua Black loool
@@Ciso_diagnostics cables are just cables… no chips inside them. Maybe the charger, but good quality ones (especially if slow) do the job well too
The voiceover sounds very much like The Lockpicking Lawyer 😅
What a nightmare!
Slide that pick!
Omg this is too much I’m gonna pay someone 🤣
Why would your iphone 12 battery be broken as of now? It has literally only been 5 months since the release date when this vid was uploaded. What's going on.
you can come back and watch the video in a few years when your battery does need replacing.
Uncertified cable chargers can cause damage to the battery or even motherboard in worst cases.
I have replaced my iPhone battery and I noticed that they could have avoided burying the wires so deep under other parts. I believe they did this intentionally, making it time consuming so that more people will just get a newer faster phone than fixing the old one that could last another 2 years. Since when iPhones have become consumable?
Good jop thanks ☺️
Aren’t all iPhone 12 models still under factory warranty including the battery?
I was going to end this with a smiley face but realized that the animated RGB keyboard I have loaded on my kindle lacks a colon...
@@Carterthielftw_ I agree, I have been wondering if phones like the 11 pro max will feel faster at the 3/4 year mark than something like my 7+ which by the way does still feel relatively snappy
I like the video clip 👍
I really don't see the need to remove those bottom parts to access the battery strips.
Strips will rip if not pulled out at an angle
@@BeyondWoWJunkies not if you use a mixed solution of 99% iso, and some acetone. You can pry the battery out using that mixed solution, just be careful and patient.
Landfill here they come. But don’t use plastic straws and bags! 😂
I just burnt the display module by over heating 😬😬😂😅
Ah…that simple!!
This waaaaaay tooo hard for me
of course its the last screw that I can't get out
I just took my 12 pro to Apple and had them replace the battery. $89+tax and done in an hour.
What was your battery percentage prior to the appointment?
@@YuhBoiJeremiah 78%
@@travr1131 is there a difference in performance?
@@YuhBoiJeremiah Honestly, it doesn't seem any faster since the new battery, but the battery life is way better than the old one was!
this is insane
Where do I get an official apple battery? lol and will my phone stop working if i replace the battery?
It cost $69 to have it replaced by Apple to purchase the battery from a 3rd party company you’re looking at $40 plus you need all the proper tools why risk it just bring it to Apple it’s covered under warranty if they break it…. if you break it you’re stuck with a broken phone that has a bad battery.
As of today, I checked and Apple store will replaced batteries on most newer iPhones 12 and up for under 100.00, my iPhone 12 only cost 89.99
