"i'm not incredibly bright or academic" - I don't believe that at all. From her songs I think Laura Marling is insightful and intellectual, perhaps she just means in the 'schoolroom' sense of the word. I love her, she's so lovely and handled this tough interviewer really well!
Normally I can tell if someone is speaking with a british accent or an australian accent but when they start talking together I basically go instant deaf LOL!!! Took me quite some time to realize he's aussie!!!
She was very polite, but I'm glad she did say something when he asked such a rude question. The interviewer didn't really seem to notice she'd been offended though.
I was afraid to watch this because of everyone slagging the interviewer off (I thought he'd piss me off too), but he wasn't so bad. Plus she could handle his forwardness. It's all good.
@yvranx I think if he was trying to pick her up he would have failed even worse than he does at interviewing! Not seen the Kalowski interview. What do you search for that one?
@clemiwaki I don't know if you're being sarcastic but it's fairly well documented that the whole of Noah and The Whales second album was about Charlie Fink's break up with Laura Marling.
@yvranx It's only that question which I think's a bit out of order. Like you say, it's public knowledge but I think it's also fairly well known that she is quited sensitive about it. In those circumstances I think that it should be brought up in a delicate way. Not making a silly joke out of it. He can't seriously expected her to be happy about it. Peoples reaction to it is pretty over the top, but thats the internet. I'm amazed we've replied this many times without wishing death on each other!
@yvranx I think what people don't like is that he's taken what is clearly a very personal topic for Laura (her break up with Charlie Fink, and the album he made about it) and turned it into some sort of cheap joke, as if she would do some sort of tacky revenge song, like Eamon and Frankee or something. If a journalist wants to ask personal, probing questions, then fair enough. But he didn't. He wanted to make a crap joke about he very difficult part of her life. Low rent interviewing I feel.
@philipknowles1 Just saw it again, I can't see anything wrong with the interview. Yes, there is a 25 second segment about her former boyfriend. He was not rude, he did not press, and the relationship is already public knowledge (which makes asking about it reasonable), so I don't see anything wrong with the interview. For that he is called "jerk", "arse", "cunt", "asshole", "prick", "dick head" and is repeatedly threatened with violence.
"urtextfilms" did a shit job of editing this, the contast is so high you can't even see laura. and their interviewer is a knob. but on a brighter note, laura dealt with his questions beautifully. mad love. :) x
@yvranx And if you want to interview people, then try asking reasonable questions. That can mean probing, personal ones or lighthearted jokey stuff. As this guy demonstrates, trying to combine the two doesn't really work. It ends up sounding like you are taking the piss a bit. He probably didn't mean any harm by it, he's just not a very good interviewer. Likewise, I'm sure Laura wouldn't have lost any sleep over it. Worse things happen at sea, and all that.

"You don't hold back, do you?" That guy was an ass, and Laura is so polite as per usual.
"you don't hold back do you?" haha.
true though, some of the questions were a bit personal.
i love her answers!! :)
She is so lovely.
Normally I can tell if someone is speaking with a british accent or an australian accent but when they start talking together I basically go instant deaf LOL!!! Took me quite some time to realize he's aussie!!!
Laura is a class act! I thought these questions crossed the line a bit...
She was very polite, but I'm glad she did say something when he asked such a rude question. The interviewer didn't really seem to notice she'd been offended though.
Oh no I didn't phrase that correctly...a year ago. I was addressing the interviewer :P

I was afraid to watch this because of everyone slagging the interviewer off (I thought he'd piss me off too), but he wasn't so bad. Plus she could handle his forwardness. It's all good.
awwee that wasn't so bad. He was just being a teaser, but she took it how she was supposed to. All in good fun.
Laura is awesome ^.^ Not too sure about the interviewer, though.
@yvranx I think if he was trying to pick her up he would have failed even worse than he does at interviewing! Not seen the Kalowski interview. What do you search for that one?
which song by noah and the whale was about their break up ??
Laura makes this guy look so stupid. Love how she rinses him about Marcus and her touring together 'musicians tend to do that'. Haha!

@TheBROSEPHFRITZL That should have been the title of her reply-album to her ex: "You Don't Hold Back, Do You?"
@StrawberryIchigo18 she sang with them in a song
That interviewer what is he playing at
"I think that the shame about nu folk... other than the spelling of nu"
I like her because she's awkward.... I don't feel alone now.

@RedrumSunglasses So? Why interviewing her at all in that case? Just print her press release.
she was in noah and the whale...?

He's lucky she's so polite.
He's a Jerk.
@Judas130 oh dang....well i hope he's not like that :/ i feel bad for her
Yeah. I would dare say there's more to her than her previous relationships.
rude interviewer. but hey, he asked questions nobody else has. I wanted to know what she thought about 'The first days of spring'.
"urtextfilms" did a shit job of editing this, the contast is so high you can't even see laura. and their interviewer is a knob. but on a brighter note, laura dealt with his questions beautifully. mad love. :) x
those were really horrible questions, he could have asked her something about what inspires her etc, rather than her personal life?
@BREEBREESINGS yeaa fair enough. brb my pet kangaroo needs feeding. cya later mate

She is so wonderfully awkward!! I love her!
wow he's rude
man he's such a horrible interviewer..
I absolutely HATE the term "nu-folk"
Come on just a typical Aussie. He knows not what he does and she thought he was funny.
what a terrible interviewer
