Hi, I am Mark Shapiro and welcome to the “What Is cool in Tech” show. The technology show for nerdy seniors and their friends and families.
Summer is coming up and you know what that means?
That is right, it is BBQ season - outdoor cooking, grilling steaks, burgers, vegetables. Gathering your family and friends around to cook up a scrumptious outdoor meal.
However, what is one of the biggest bummers and challenges for using your grill? You know what it is, cleaning up. After everyone has eaten and went home, getting rid of that baked on grease, meat chunks and other stuff that dirties the grill. Its icky and a pain in the you know what
So, check this out. The Grillbot automatic BBQ cleaning robot. It is like a roomba robot but instead of cleaning floors, it is for your BBQ!
You simply open up the carrying case, take out the robot and lay it on the metal grate, hit the on button and then let it do its thing. It goes back and forth, scrapping the gook off your grill until the icky stuff is gone. I usually close the BBQ and wait a half hour or so. Yes, it is noisy.
If you like, after a while when the top of the grill is clean, you can turn it over, and then let the Grillbot clean the other side as well!
Ok, the Grillbot is not perfect - it doesn’t get the caked on grease and burnt food between the grates. You might have to manually take care of that. However, the Grillbot does take care of most of the icky stuff.
When it is all done, and your grill looks a lot better, you can simply pop out the three nylon brushes and shove them into your dishwasher along with your dishes, pots and pans
Personally, while the brushes are getting cleaned in the dishwasher, I attach the USB cord to an outlet and charge up the robot for the next time. And a few hours later, when the dishwasher cycle is complete, voila, the brushes are clean. Just insert them back into the robot and you are ready to go.
By the way, if you use your Grillbot a lot, and wear down your brushes, you can always buy a set of brushes!
