Horror AND oil rigs? Two of my vices! Awesome game so far! Anyways lab samples! Actually yeah. Drilling rigs are part geology stations too. So first, Mud. Mud, or drilling fluid, is basically piped into the bore hole to maintain hydrostatic pressure in the hole. Ideally this is the first of a handful of steps to prevent catastrophic blow outs, as well as to help minimize chances of collapse. The lab on a oil rig or drilling area is there to analyze ground samples that come out with mud to help determine what kind of rock they're finding. This will help determine which drill bits to use and when. Also, it helps the rig understand how close they might be to the oil deposits.
That makes sense! I thought they were slowly gonna trickle in the idea that they knew something was down there the whole time lol I'm glad they didn't do that.
I just realized the weird chemical burn visual effect that happens in your vision shows enemy directionality, like in an FPS with red damage visuals. How intense it is also shows how close the enemies are.
Me too! I really like how interesting and unique of a concept it is. And is it just me or do the mutated humans kind of look like giant shrimp? 😂 I think they're meant to look like that because they've absorbed sea animals but I definitely get shrimp vibes from them
His hallucinations and stuff happen the most the closer he is to that... entity? Anyway, it got me wondering if he'd still be able to live a normal life the further away he is from it.
Caz might be the only horror protagonist who doesn't throw away the screwdriver after one use. Some of the tendril/tentacle things remind me of a blanket octopus, similar iridescence.
30:06 - I feel like Rennick was infected prior to getting on the helicopter with Archie. That's the only reason I can imagine Rennick telling Caz, "Don't touch this stuff all over the Beria" and the chopper crashed. He touched it, and was probably experiencing an adverse reaction to it. I feel like Archie stayed on the helipad after the explosion, waiting to evac everyone.
39:30 Thanks to this video, I discovered that such a thing as "electrical cord art" or "cable wall art" exists, and now i know exactly how I'm going to organize my cables from now on lol.
LOVED this game and playthrough! Interesting and unique concept not a boring predictable stereotype like a lot of horror games are now. The writing is what takes this game to the next level. Every single character you meet feels like a real person. And the dialogue feels real. And it is extremely difficult to write realistic dialogue. For proof of that just look at the new Star wars movies or any big budget movie from 2010 on basically. Wooden conversations, info dumps. Writing realistic dialogue is the hardest thing to write in my opinion, even for professionals. That's really a testament to just how good the writing in this game really is. And you literally only get a few lines each with each character you meet. And it's so well written I am attached and feel sad when something happens to those characters, except for the characters that are meant to be hateable 😂 but everything about this game so far is fantastic! Have the devs put out anything else? Or more specifically has the writer done work on anything else.
Dark water is one of my worst fears... it's not knowing what's under me that does it. I'm not sure if it would be more terrifying or less to know that there likely is something terrifying in there... probably worse O_O
Talking about swimming water temperature... Have you ever heard of the looney dook in south Queensferry? Every new years day scots walk into the forth and it can be below zero.
"I don't like the accents waaaa" The VOICE ACTING IS SO GOOD omg It is ridiculous. Also Jesus the upper body strength on this man, if Suze dumps him I'll marry him on the spot.
I have noticed that too Scottish people talking to each other sounds simultaneously so mean and rude and also in like a weird wholesome camaraderie type way it's rude without actually sounding malicious IDK how to describe it
Kinda shows how Americentric UA-cam can be, huh? I was always told growing up that that is the WORST word a man can call a woman, and other countries throw it around like it's the word "shit" or something. Interesting culture clash.
Calling games like this (Pathologic 2 is another good example) is proof that some people just can't handle narrative and storytelling. Skill issues I say.
Sorry for the reupload, had to fix a C word!
Those darn filthy mouth characters 😂
Those darn filthy mouth characters 😂
that blasted c word!!!
But it's a term of endearment in some places! 😆
It's like they're messing with you, personally.

Interesting, thanks for the extra info ^^
1:05:36 Carrion is the name of the game that you are thinking of I believe
Total call back to McReady from The Thing and absolutely love it!!!! So excited to watch the full play through from you.

I LOVE that we still don’t know what’s really going on along with the protagonist. Scariest game we’ve had come out in years imo. Well done.
love how they got the look of the oil in the water - i love the look of this game!

The whale calls mixed with screams is top tier. Very nice touch.
Gotta say, I kinda like the way games have been using the yellow paint/markings. Tells you where to go without breaking immersion
Yeah, people complain about it but it's a good thing. Plus it's in this environment it makes sense anyway
His hallucinations and stuff happen the most the closer he is to that... entity? Anyway, it got me wondering if he'd still be able to live a normal life the further away he is from it.
Loved this game, happy to see it getting some well deserved recognition!
Swear to all the gods ever, Finlay and Roy had better survive. Brodie, too.
You know what I thought…..at first I was like Dead Space with Lovecraft. But then I thought about “The Thing.”

Maybe there was a fish, questioning his life exitence, and received a thermos on the head.

Fun fact: “muir” means “sea” in Scottish Gaelic! Seems fitting

you should visit Barnsley if you ever come down to England, it's my hometown and it's steeped in history
Just started Carrion. This enemy seems similar and I like it.
That was the game I was thinking of!!
This gives me huge Cthulhu vibes
