Melodious have been in the OCG report multiple time since the release of Lede in Japan, I don't understand why many tcg player ignored them until now

Tcg players dont pay attention to ocg results all that much unless a deck is making a big splash, like tenpai
It's not very well represented in the ocg, it's not like it was a tier 1 deck there
Coverage of Jp events tend to not show the full picture on Jp deck discourse, and also maxx c not being in the format allows melodious a lot more breathing room and they’re seeing more of a showing than they did in ocg from what I can tell. I remember testing on sims with and without maxx c and it felt quite different since unless you had exactly the right hand trap line melodious is hard to stop, where as with maxx c I’m likely to draw that handtrap before the endboard gets all the way there and have giant card advantage.
I picked all of these cards up like four months ago, best choice I've made in recent memory

In Japanese the names are just the real names but they changed them by adding an A at the end in the west 🤷♂️

Melodious is a good replacement for brave engine. Both end on an Omni-negate, but melodious gets you additional bodies for apo or any other plays as well as not screwing over your normal summon. The engine is broken in Spright. Ostinato makes a vortex dragon, apo for 4, and gigantic Spright(and a top hatter/angel statue once that card comes out) on its own without using your normal summon.

I firmly think that Melodious has easy potential to win a YCS, and i mean the pure deck in this instance. Just needs the right pilot and just a tiny bit of luck, i think
Maybe. The good thing is that with nerfs to other decks eventually, and new cards for the archetype or synergies will make the deck a YCS contender. Idk about now. The person has to be extremely lucky
It needs a pilot along the lines of Jess. What she does with plants is what someone needs to do with this.
As someone playing Ashened, a deck that MASSIVELY appreciates the ability yo make Banshee without their normal and an apo to protect against nib, I'm very glad Ostinato does not have a restriction :)
I'm so mad I didn't get a Schuberta when the card was cheap together with the rest of the Melodious engine. Should have looked at their fusions a bit better. Now she's 5 bucks instead of 60 cents lol
I bought all this stuff when it was worth dirt, now 1st Movement Solo is 24$ usd a piece. Aged well for me lol
I sincerely believe pure Melodious and pure Snake Eye are better than Snake Eye with the Melodious engine. You're filling up your deck with 5 awkward cards and hoping you draw into one unsearchable 3 of.

Entirely correct. Splashing archetypes together almost always creates inconsistency unless they have some kind of type or attribute synergy.

Snake eye diabellstar is actually being played in multiple decklist in OCG, only as one-offs
Honestly, this package seems to just be a counter to Promethean Princess in general. It may be worth experimenting with Melodious in a lot of decks this format. If you can banish the Princess out of the GY, that frees up a lot of room to try and take back the board going second.
More importantly though, this package is incredibly budget. It costs maybe 20-25 bucks? You could also probably still make this work in budget Snake-Eye for those who cant afford Bonfire since the Melodious stuff helps to fill out the rest of the deck.
I'm probably gonna experiment with this more after i'm done breaking Shining Sarc. That package works really well in Gold Pride PUNK. Ending on Hope Harbinger and either an additional spell or monster negate is such a power trip.

I thought this was going to be a discussion of pure, since Josh has said already that he knew the engine was relevant. But then this just looks at the engine again and doesn't discuss the actual archetype?

you could also make odd eyes absolute from 2 of your bacha then link it off to any link, then you can sp summon odd eyes vortex to replace the missing Baronne.
I've been using it for my cubic deck and it can sp summon my starters which is a new thing for cubic since most of the time you have to reserve your normal summon for your starters (Duza)
Man, I feel so vindicated buying Melodious after I saw some of the OCG tops, while the cards were still pretty cheap.
So we talk about YCS Rio and Snake eyes doing some result but not some regionals in the US that are bigger than YCS Rio where Melodious got 1st and 3rd place?
Wich one of them had more and/or better players? We had Jesse Kotton, Reich, Netz, Paulo etc. it's smaller than an European or American YCS (by far), but it's far from being a small or weak event. You simply can't compare it to regionals.

Ostinato is fine to not have an OPT you have to have an empty board. Melodious are also pretty balanced since their big effects are xenolocked to Melodious (Harmonist) and light (Shopina). An 8-card engine to make a Rank 4 without a normal is fine. I want to see how things play out once Snake-Eye gets actual hits (because they're still at like 50% top-cut representation, and that's a huge issue).

@@donaxygo You don't even need to do that, just temporarily banish your board with 1 of your fusions.
You usually make etoile on 5th summon, so you banish your board and if you didn’t normal you just continue, if not then you pass on etoile with hand traps, then of course you have orange light or you can make absolute dragon on 5th summon for vortex.
Most of the time when you get to Etoile you set scales anyway so you can Pendulum Summon, so you get more mileage out of the board state after nib than what you think.

@@zanekarim717 your comment was suggesting that the support just showed up in the tcg without prior notice. of course the deck wasn't good before the support but it was known half a year ago in the ocg and everyone had a chance to decide how good it may be before it actually hits tcg. it's nothing new for me that the deck is good as I already knew that few months ago. and I believe that the OP also meant the same, not the period of time before the support was announced in ocg. the deck was actually trash back then

Snake-eyes diabelstar DID see play in the OCG in the short time before they neutered the deck in the banlist. It's cause Road of the king does an awful job at reporting tops so they just pick a random list for the week

From my testing so far melodious pure feels sliiightly worse than vv but i would def go learn the deck because there are a *lot* of easy accidental cheats that you will catch people on
As an engine imo it sounds better than it really is.. it takes up too much space so you kinda have to play over 40 but the engine isnt searchable and the whole thing is a bit more vulnerable than youd like and the payoff is good but maybe not quite good enough to justify trying to highroll with it

I think as an engine it is a bit cluncky and awkward, but as a pure deck I think it has the potential to be tier 1, if not tier 2 at least. The deck is pretty nice, but the results may only be from people not respecting it
