  • This chorus, written in 1931 in Minneapolis, stems from a construction company's slogan during the Panama Canal's development. Oscar Carl Eliason, a Swedish-born American music evangelist, penned the chorus based on the company's boat that it could handle "things thought impossible." Eliason thought to himself - that was God's realm, and he wrote the chorus using the slogan, but re-directing it as a boast of a sovereign, all--powerful God.

    Wow... the Roberta Martin Singers remade this in the 50s and put a gospel spin to it. I just found out that the original composer was Oscar Eliasons in 1929.

      My Grandpa wrote this. He was a true Christian gentleman and song writer. He passed away in 1985.

    That isn't Grandpa Eliason's photo. I think they have him confused with another Oscar Eliason whose photos are online. Contact me for a real photo.
