What a time to be alive. Feel sorry for youngsters now with it's all aggressive, stab everything up grime music and middle class guitar bands who are instantly forgettable. Give me a dove or two ,some Mondays any day of the week. Look at Horse! Off his napper!! MVITA
The youngsters today don't need your pity. They out having a good time as well. They are not ALL stabbing each other, don't believe the BS in the media. Notice hardly a word about stabbings now? Only the Ukraine - Not much Covid news either.
You haven't been looking hard enough for new music then, just taken chart music and popular streaming music at face value. Some amazing bands out there now they just don't get the recognition because capitalism thrives on profit not art
Voodoo Ray such a great track of it's time. First heard it in the State and Mardi Gras back in 88 in Liverpool it was also hammered at the raves at Glastonbury the following summer. Still sounds outthere
Yeh I tried to hear the bass for years on the record, being a bass player and self-confessed Paul Ryder addict, but couldn't hear it. Hannett bless his soul buried it.
Trippy, I was once YOUNG 😎 voodoo ray 😄 wrote for luck was my fave along with a big spliff /cruising Mosside with my window down elbow out ☺ the gud ole days
Too early for Mitsubishis, they didn't happen until a few years later. Probably Doves, possibly New Yorkers or maybe even just unbranded caps. And back then, you were paying 20-25 quid a time. Don't know if they were stronger back then or we just weren't as used to them. But me and a mate laugh about the time we went out on a Friday night and we were still gurning and having to stop ourselves from dancing in a branch of Our Price records on Saturday lunch time.
I know it's side tracking the main subject a little, but isn't the girl with the red hair in the spaghetti ad, Lindsey Layton? I'm sure she was lead singer in 'Beats International' with Norman Cook. They had a number one record round about 1990.

There was also a lot of garbage commercial radio friendly dance groups back then too.
Bang on mate ,
I'd just celebrated my 18th birthday at the Hacienda the previous month! What an amazingly privileged time to be a young adult!
Tony Wilson is bloody marvellous.
Love it, the whole crowd really into it, no passengers.
Today I learned that simulating hurriedly wading thru the shallow end of a swimming pool with woolen underwear was a dancing style.
Good to see.
Everybody into it.
No fxxxs given.
The way it should be.
What a time to grow up in Manchester, I knew it was good but only on reflection do you realise just how good it was.
great video - shows how some folk were still that bloody dance formation stuff .. while on the fringes people were all ready going acid house!
All loved up all eedddd up good old days 🎉🎉

Haha love how they have left in the ad break!!
The Mondays at their peak there, just before the remixers and the charts and the dark drugs got hold of them.

TCOY...brilliant !!!
That Bass sound is amazing on this, it's completely lost on the actual record.
absolutely.
Yeh I tried to hear the bass for years on the record, being a bass player and self-confessed Paul Ryder addict, but couldn't hear it. Hannett bless his soul buried it.
You can hear almost the exact same baseline in the second part of the song I want you - Ralph Rosario
This is like "The Boiler Room" of the 80's haha! I'd much rather be at this one!
Yep. Too right :-)
