I might get that one day. I just got the Defender Hybrid drilled up last week
Bowled my first set with it last night. Your analysis is spot on with what I experienced with it. 15 at the arrows to 7 was the sweet spot, went 290 the first game and front 6 next game. I was really surprised when I missed in, it still turned the corner hard and got the 10 out easily. The few times I got it to the friction too early during that run, it didn't burn out and leave a flat 10 which I was totally expecting. It reminds me of a slightly stronger Outer limits, but if I miss in with the OL it doesn't keep turning the corner like the UD. I probably could have thrown it all night if I moved even deeper but I balled down to the Crypto boom towards the end of the 2nd game and shot 772.
Looks like a strong Zen. Calm, forward reaction. The comparison with the 3.0 really shows that difference.
Almost bought the original Defender Hybrid. Though a different beast, really liking the the controlled look of this on. Would love to see you throw it slightly polished. Great in-depth review!

This ball will certainly help lower rev rate people. But for me a benchmark shouldn’t be too strong for a house shot. I think of the hitter the 2.0 the rattler all benchmarks. This is a step up.

These balls look better for you they definitely read the midlane and the carry looks better I've watched all your videos with the Brands of Brunswick they are a good fit for you
I like them, they're all stronger and more dynamic so I'm still trying to adjust to that on house patterns, but we'll get it figured out.
I have gone over to Brands of Brunswick have 9 of them currently. My game has been reslly awesome as of late the angles I can create is amazing and I'm 66 years old lol

Luke, what's stronger between this and the Effect if you have them at the same surface? This looks like the strongest thing on the market right now as far as balls that don't hook in the first 35 feet. Wondering if the Effect is a step down or something different entirely.
I think the Effect would be, the UD has been throwable for me so it's really not super strong, but yeah as far as balls that aren't super early, it's still pretty strong.

Which is the better benchmark ball Ultimate Defender or Envy Tour?
I think the Ultimate is, the Envy Tour is really strong and needs a lot of speed from the bowler or a lot of oil on the lane. The Ultimate is still fairly strong, but a lot more usable.

Would this be a good ball to move to after starting off with the new Idol?
Maybe? This one would have to be lane shined though, both with surface they're kind of on top of each other. The B7 stuff has generally been stronger for me than the Storm stuff, for example the Summit is really strong for a Storm ball but so far only seems to be average strength when compared to the B7 stuff.
Looks great but I have been burned on too many Brunswick balls in the past to ever trust them again
So basically I'm going to leave this comment for posterity's sake, and for future reference the ultimate Defender is basically a Storm Nova replacement, and it's basically almost an identical reaction to the Black Widow 3.0.
Yes but no lol, the UD shapes a ton like the Nova but it's quite a bit stronger, especially when it shines up. The Nova was crazy with surface and then turned into a spare ball when it shined up, and the UD has similar stats to the 3.0 as far as where it falls on the chart, but the reaction shape isn't very close at all.
@@LukeRosdahl okay, thank you for clarifying. One thing is for sure I am going to be getting a widow 3.0 because of your review. Even my PSO said that was going to be a great ball for me, and nearly fell out of his chair when I told him I was going to get one.
I wouldn’t really classify this as a benchmark….
It's on the stronger side, but I did clarify in the video that it's an asymmetric benchmark, so for people that typically throw bigger balls, this one fits.
@@LukeRosdahl for sure when I was a one hander I loved bigger asymmetricals but now As I switched to a two hander I definitely prefer weaker stuff with the increased speed and rev rate. The hitter has been my only dominant asymmetric at the house I play at.
