Very nice! It's a shame changing all unit sizes in the game would be so tedious and time-consuming. A video on some fixes for gunpowder units would also be great!
Yes this was an apt reminder of that. Though actually the guns ended up facing perfectly in a V into the enemy lines so it worked out surprisingly well! 😅
Is there any way to change all unit size at once? In Rome 1 you can go to preferences text file then find UNIT_SIZE: 100 (default) and change it to UNIT_SIZE: 200, then all unit will have x2 number of troops. But in Med 2 you only have 4 options for UNIT_SIZE: small-medium-large-huge.
Now I can make massive battles, lol. Thank you so much! But, I have a question: I have Third Age Total War installed. If I unpack the files, TATW will no longer be playable?
Is there any way to increase the size of the individual soldiers? The concept is a 10-man unit of Giant Varangians (1.7 x size of human soldier) hacking away at the enemy lines mercillessly.
hey, i tried to do it for a mod (sengoku) but it didn't work despite the fact i can see the modified number than i put next to "soldier" line in export descr unit. :(
How or where do I fix the archer as guns? It bothers the hell out of me that half my archer unit fires straight up. Before a rtw and m2tw patch they all fired in a flatter trajectory. I want to fix it back, and update it for divide and conquer too
@@ToNerdistoHumanTNH exactly. Maybe we can also get 40 units per army in the future? But at least if we can increase every unit to at least 300 men, that would be cool for massive battles in rome remastered, with the better graphics of the remastered would be so great, maybe hoping for a blood and gore DLC to give more tensions? Would be possible for modders to add blood effects?
when I want to play in the custom battle there is no problem, but it will not let me play in the campain, when I start a battle the game crashes, It is normal? or its just my PC?
@@IceniTotalWar I played only as The Faustian Reich so far and it was pretty fun, except sieges are buggy on high unit scale and guns have to upfront close to d enemy to work MOST times. You could try annother faction for a better experience, the mod has potential it just needs polishing and depth.
@@josh8945 Yeah it's an underrated but fun looking mod, I was following a very small channel that was doing a playthrough but they stopped. I'll check on TWC/moddb for any updates/patches.
All the ideas that come to mind haven't worked sadly. It may be hardcoded into the elephants but if I ever figure it out then I will do something about it. A good idea (if a tad goofy as you say). :)
Now THAT'S CLOSE TO ALMOST HISTORIC NUMBERS. Thanks Thomas.
It is pretty close to historic numbers :) I'll be spending my next few hours changing the unit numbers then.
It's a pretty decent result! :)
@@hannahneal1601 do you have the modded .txt file? I'm too lazy to do it myself lol
@@ITSMRFOXY I have a modded one but it's for the roar of conquest mod
Cheers. Good to see the captions filled in fully! :)
It was a faff. haha. But I think for guides it is useful to add them. :)

Thank you for giving us tutorial on how to mod this game. I learned a lot thank you! Also I'm still waiting to fix 2 handed 🙂
Thank you! Indeed. I'll probably get on that and the musket video soon. :)

Thank you so much and I thought m2tw options can't change units size scale , I finally realise that this solution was absolutely perfect for me .
Glad it helps. It's a bit of a manual work around but if it does the job then I consider it a job a well done. :D
Great! I will be testing it out pretty soon! Thanks in advance! :D
Hope it goes well for you!
Really enjoyed the video, and I'd definitely watch a video on fixing musketeers like you mentioned if you're able to get around to it :)
That video is indeed being put together! You'll see it before too long :)
Wow that's super helpful. the battlefield is littered with corpses now
thanks Thomas
Cheers!
If you're editing the size of a unit that can deploy stakes is their a another edit separately for the stakes ? such as length/breadth of the stakes .
I believe it should scale up at the same time.
@@ToNerdistoHumanTNH Great thanks for the info, is there an actual way to make stakes thicker/longer ?
And can every unit use stakes even Cav ?
rome remastered v2.02 removed the unit size limit; can you do a guide on that and test if 500 or so will work?
Yeah I'm not sure how big that goes so It'd be interesting to find out!
Now I can make massive battles, lol. Thank you so much! But, I have a question: I have Third Age Total War installed. If I unpack the files, TATW will no longer be playable?
Happy to help! It shouldn't have any impact on your mods at all. Not from my experience anyway.
I've unpacked the Med2 files after installing numerous mods and never noticed any issues either. Good luck.
I've been looking forward to this one.
It has been requested a few times I'm sure!

Play WarHammer mate
I don't think you should be playing medieval 2 lol , Like the comment above said play warhammer instead

Hey so now if i try to startup the game after i changed some of the units, it just closes automatically in the start?
Javelins for units that don't have them? I have experimented with this myself but never been successful
You will need to make sure the models expect them to use a javelin I assume. Probably in descr_model_battle.
This is really helpful. :)
Glad you think so!

Does this apply to campaign as well or only custom battles
Campaign too!
i cant find export_descr_unit txt how can i see that ? dude pls help me
Hope something like that in Rome Remastered!
I can look into it. I believe the limits are removed so it could be huge 😎

Great stuff

What if you're on mobile? Is there any way?
what about artillery?
In my Thera redux mod firearms guns are really buggy and are mostly useless.
Disappointing as I was planning to install that mod but thanks for the info.

this is probably a goofy and impossible idea. is it possible to give units other than elephants the ability to batter down a settlement gate?
