Another great video Andrea your definitely right about space planning in commercial is very different with regards to when and how it happens as it quite often dictates design and layout with regards to numbers and ergonomics of the space that book (Metric Handbook) really shows and explains a lot of this and is a great resource for every space, commercial, healthcare etc etc
Definitely!! It’s quite interesting how there are so many factors that can dictate deign, I will check that book out, thank u! excited to learn about it.
Andrea what is your softwares workflow when you draw the plans then 3d modeling.. do you model in Autocad or completely in 3ds max? Thank you for the great video
Hi I just came across your channel and I love the video your designing skills are amazing I’m thinking of becoming an interior designer myself even tho I’ve never tried to design stuff but I most certainly would love to after I graduate high school I have one more year left anyways I was wondering if I had a Clint and he or she wanted to redesign his/her kitchen bathroom and bedroom would I need information on where the plumbing is at for the kitchen sink and etc and for the bathroom as well?
Hi there, normally wherever you are planning to put your kitchen and bathroom, you will have to indicate that those walls need plumbing and the plumber will make sure to install the plumbing and make sure that the wall is built correctly for the pipes to run through, also construction of plumbing walls is different than a normal wall, they are normally thicker. Hope that helps✨
As an interior designer, what type of outside the scope but home related areas can you change such as: if redesigning a bathroom, can the water structures be moved or do water lines need to stay on the same place but maybe finagle the items that need the water lines around? Same thing with like gas system for stoves and even the venting system?
Hi, that’s a great question. For plumbing you could have more than one plumbing wall in a bathroom, however it’s more expensive so when there is a budget we try to have all our fixtures going to one single plumbing wall. We always confirm these things with plumbers since we are not specialized in plumbing so most of our decisions have to be confirmed with trades people to make sure they are viable and doable. Same goes for the gas and venting, as designers we are always working with other professions (architects, plumbers, electricians, cabinet makers) and we certainly do not know it all so it’s always a team work.
It’s also depends on the customer’s design budget. Some of them want to see the rendering but before the final rendering there are so many steps need to be done.
I haven’t taken any online courses, but regardless of the course or program I would make sure that they teach you about interior design softwares. It’s becomes a problem when the courses don’t teach you about programs and technology because it’s a basic skill to become a designer
Thanks for sharing your design process! it was very insightful :)) By the way, do you have any books to recommend as an interior design student? Thanks again :D
