- Thanks for watching. Here's how to replicate a rare and out of production horn button for a 1954 Pontiac Chieftain. This is part of an ongoing series documenting the restoration of the junkyard Poncho I picked up in 2021.
Here's a link to some merch to show your love for the old school and to help support the channel while you're at it:

If you're new to the channel, thanks for stopping by! I design and build handwired vacuum tube amps as my day job and like to throw tips and tricks your way about all sorts of shop related things. If it's old school, you'll find much love for it here!
Looks amazing! Great attention to detail as always. The fine detail on that wheel is incredible!
Thanks, Scott! I'm really enjoying getting this stuff cleaned up so I can show off all the great details and style in the original design.
Thank you so much for doing this! I thought I had to live with the cracks. Could you post a link to the plexiglass you used? I need to do this on the exact same horn button.

From caracas vzla, excellent job.
Thanks for watching!
@@FreshOldSchool Hi, friend. What thickness of glass did you use?
@@oscargermanalbornozmiliani The plexiglass I used was 3.5" diameter x 1/8" thickness.
Thank you very much, Your information for the restoration of the horn button is very useful for all of us who own a 1954 Pontiac
Imma be honest, I'm too nervous to do this myself. Can I just pay for you to do it? I got two horn bezels and both are cracked. (I bought one only to find the other in my seat.)
I have a ‘56 beetle and just had the steering wheel restored. Could I send you the horn button to be restored?
Nice score! That’s a great year. I used to own a ‘79 Westfalia and I built a trailer for it out of a super beetle. It was fantastic.
Unfortunately I’ve got piles of work and can’t take jobs like that. Sorry. Hopefully the video is enough to help you or at least demonstrate the process to someone that could do it for you!
And when the external cover has an internal engraving in low relief? How to do this on the inside of the acrylic?
I’d probably invert the image (mirrored) and engrave it on the plexiglass first. The Pontiac is clear so I didn’t have to do that.
Very aggressive hand movements and slamming the objects around. Relax.
