- How to solve "Error establishing a database connection" error in wordpress ? We will describe A quick solution of "Error establishing a database connection" A description on How to solve wp-config issue?
STEP 1 : Login to your cPanel.
STEP 2 : Go to Mysql database.
STEP 3 : Change/Reset Mysql Database password and paste it to wp-config file. Also cross-check db hostname , Mysql user etc.
STEP 4 : Once you have syncronized the wordpress db credentials, You're done.

I resetup my cpanel due to some reasons, and after adding database, making and connecting user to database, and when I try to install the WordPress it is showing that "database connection failed" and after checking in files I noticed that there is no confic.php file in my publichtml section there is only config sample file..
What will I do now... Please help

I solved my database error with the help of your tutorial. Thank you so much. In my case user name of database was wrong in php file. How does it happen? I shared password with my client's so called administrator. Did he try to tease me or to show his superiority to my client? or it happens just like that?

No it doesn't take time after you change the password form wp-conf file. However you can try pressing ctrl+F5 to force an update, disregarding any cache. If it still not work then cross-check the database username, MySQL user, database password in the MySQL section as well as in the wp-config file. Ensure that the credentials should be same at both places.

This doesnt work for me. I've done this procedure so many times. I've created a testconnection.php just to check and credentials are ok but still this error comes up. Plus I have got missing tables wp_user, wp_options and wp_;links. What I am suppoosed to do? I have no generated backup

This happens when your database gets deleted or tables are missing.
If you don't have backup then we are sorry. This is irreparable.
Contact Redserverhost support team if wordpress hosting along with regular backups.

I get this error daily...whats permanent solution??
If you are getting this error daily, then probably the reason is one of the below:
1. Someone is changing the password or wp-config.php file again and again.
2. Your server's database is restarted or goes down everyday.
3. Your internet connection is blocking connections with the database over the default port 3306.
The solution to your problems are:
1. Check your error_log file and cpanel > errors for possible errors.
2. Keep a check on the last logged in IP address which is shown in your cPanel.
3. Consult your hosting provider with the uptime of database server (SQL server).
4. Keep a check on last modified files inside cpanel > file manager > public_html

@juan Please change db password and write db name, db user, and db pass very carefully in wp-config.php file. Because this error mainly occurs only when one of the three things are wrong written in wp-config file.

Hey jamie Thomas this is the only reason you are facing this error establishing database connection in your WordPress site because this wp-config file contains information about the database, username, and password. This information allows WordPress to communicate with the database to store and retrieve data.
You can either run your backups or the wp-config.php can be downloaded from here generatewp.com/wp-config/
As per my guess you are installing wordpress manually so you need to run the wordpress installer by visiting your wordpress url from your browser

This means someone has deleted your wordpress installation files. Please reinstall wordpress by using softaculous.
