Fantastic review and very informative, my wife is looking for a van for her new business and I have spends weeks looking over utube at van reviews and your review comes out tops, we see a lot of car reviews of do's and don'ts, but none for vans, maybe you could do a review of do's and don'ts when buying a van, it seems that is what is missing here, once again great video
@@williamrae9954 that was the point of my comment. I always took it that the Mjet diesel was 1.3 ie, 1251cc or greater. But it’s actually 1248cc so according to the rounding rules of arithmetic, it’s technically nearer to a 1.2 😁
@@smithp573 Taxation usually goes to the higher number...Honda CBR 600/650 huge difference in road tax,up to 600cc and over 600cc...1.2 is probably 1100 and something?
@@williamrae9954 2001 onwards is on CO2 emissions rather than engine size so it’s not that. As you say it’s probably more to do with just sounding more impressive. 1.3 is better than a 1.2 eh 😁.
The local postmen near us rag the hell out of the vans. Doing excessive speeds down out tight dead end road with cars parked either side. All the vans I see look like an absolute pile I’m amazed by this one!
This was never used 'on the rounds' so to speak It was made for a trade show but sadly the RM didn't use this model. They went for the next year's model
Love it I would have no problems bombing around in that .I think the stickers make it😀.Interesting that it's a Dobalo all the older Royal mail vans round by me in the Black Country are vauxhall Combos. Did a double take the other day as they seem to have acquired one from Wales as it's got Royal mail in Welsh on the side !!!
These are nice little vans, you had the Peugeot clone the bipper which was discontinued in 2017. I have thought about buying one of these vans and converting it into a mini camper.
That Multijet engine can be disliked - the key is maintenance - something that is not understood by Vauxhall owners where it also appears as Corsa and Astra owners who moan about it. Same with the 1.2 petrol engine in the Corsa which suffers from chain issues - something about some owners who don't get what value maintenance is for cars
I too am your size. I have a Doblo converted to a camper. The turbo has packed up. It drives but all the nippiness has gone. Have you had to repair yours? If so how much did it cost?
Driver's footwell is what bugs me,not being flat, i tend to take me footwear off on 500-800mile days in the summer, just annoys me,have a ridge below my feet! Currently looking at a 1.9 diesel, just for more poke, 1.3d is useless with a trailer! Oh, with width between the wheelarches inside, takes a pallet, hence why the doors swing right round! Finally,do not buy one where there's sea air, paint falls off of them!
Hi Jon, I was just wondering if you still have this van, and if so, have you towed anything with it as I bought one and thought it was the 1.6 for towing a trailer tent oops now not sure if it's going to handle it. Kind regards, Angela.
loved mine. i had the hightop 1.9 jtd 105hp model. loved driving it, miss it.
What a lovely old thing. I miss my van ☹️
Great video and tour of the van. I love the Royal Snail livery too. I bet lots of people do a double take when they see it 😊
Thank you
Yes they certainly do!
Bit of fun :) - why not be different eh
I never noticed 😂

Glad it was helpful! Cheers Phillip 😁
Great video! Brilliant what you did with it after you brokered a deal for it 👍.
Best thing ive ever bought ;)
1248cc which surprised me as I had a Panda Mjet Dynamic which I always thought was a 1.3. Unbelievably economical. Good little motors.
1.2 is a petrol, 1.3 is the diesel

It's a lovely engine in my opinion. As you say ... When looked after 👍

Thankfully my turbo hasn't gone in my ownership so sadly I can't advise
