Not to be disrespectful but I have been through many Indian doctors because I am Indian myself. The last thing I wouldve expected is a foreigner to know more about vata kapha than an Indian doctor that studied through real lineage of ayurveda with saints and old vaidyas. This is crazy. This guy is absolutely genius in terms of ayurvedic knowledge. Much respect to this guy. Absolute gem of a video.
I have recently been through a very stressful period in my life, and gained a lot of weight trying to figure out if I’m a true Vata-Kapha. This seems to make a lot of sense to me. My mind is truly Vata. I think I’m mostly having a Vata imbalance. This info is so crucial.
Thank you thank you thank you. I could cry with gratitude from this teaching. I have been trying to find these answers for years, studying books, religions, going to counseling for anxiety, depression, and binge eating... and here is the answer. Thank you!
I’ve been going through the same issues for 4 years now , spent all my resources visiting conventional doctors , specialist, fisical therapist but nothing helped me , I’m now at point that almost any food even healthy foods would throw me out and dying of pain, but this video has opened my eyes and I’ll continue searching
Thank you for the precision of this explanation. I would love to hear you speaking about the unique gifts of the Vata-Kapha type. Maybe another short video? Would be great..
This is the best explanation of the Vata Kapha Dosha. I have read several books on the matter and still have not been able to understand it properly until I heard your video. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. 🙏🏼
I’m grateful for the way you have explained this and will be watching more of your videos. I love the description that when disturbed, Vata can also push Kapha out of balance... very complex but beautiful once I understand it. when I get emotional and anxious, I stress eat and become lethargic. I always thought I was a Vata because I was a skinny and quick person my whole life (until university these past couple years) but I got more of that soft weight on my face and belly and I feel physically slowed down and relaxed, and have always had good long sleeps, yet my mind is very busy and often anxious.
Thank you so much for your explanation, I have been growing front and back for the explanation I just realized I'm a Vata Kapha, but I get imbalanced very often especially struggling with taking actions, fast in the mind and heaviness in body is really what I struggle with the most.
How has it taken me so long to find this. You’ve described me to a T. I’ve been searching for this info and it actually confirmed my instincts. Thank you thank you thank you.
Thank you so much for the information! As a part time musician, who has a day job as an architect, I am having a hard time to follow the suggestion that vata people live regularly and wake up early. Can a regularity of daily life for half of the week early and half of the week between 10am and 2am also be a choice for a vata/kapha musician like me? Thanks so much in advance and have a great day!:)
Thank you this has finally given me some clarity. I have recently purchased your book but couldn’t really figure out what my dosha’s were but this has definitely opened my eyes. As you said how can someone have exact opposite energies and make sense of it, i can now after you put everything into perspective, thank you
Dr Marc, I ❤️this. I am Vata with Kapha imbalance. Gaining weight/water . Do I follow Vata dosha diet anyway but smaller portions? Not a kapha balancing diet? Main goal to increase digestion, energy , reduce water
Hi , thanks a lot for this informative video, if you don't mind can you please elaborate a bit more on the food that we can eat for Vata- kapha dosha on daily basis with more examples, like which fruits, grains, meat, pulses and vegetables are best suited. Thanks again.🙏
Thank u the description fits me well .the psychiatrist told me i have chronic generalised anxiety with spells of panics and depression.iam off my 20mg Zoloft since 1 year which i was taking from 10 years. I wish i could get more insight about this topic . I don’t know how?
Thank you Mark,i just so happen to experience anxiety and heaviness as well. I wondered if the heaviness is what causes my mind to appear slow and dull, and if it leads to more subconscious thinking taking place with Kapha heaviness. Last test i took got me Vata Pitta predominance,i was born in summer times during a Vata time of day as well. But feel Kapha might be a strong part of my Prakriti, which i still feel uncertain about as my memory about my childhood is foggy.
So would soups made with bone broth, with some veggies and a bit of meat be good for someone with a VK dosha? It seems like this is what's implied.. soups are very light but when you add the earth aspect (bone broth and veggies) you get the requirements. Collagen is good for us in general but does nurture the brain and the immune system. Soup would also provide the needed warmth, correct?
I’m skinny fat. I have fat around my stomach but have no muscle mass. If i try to workout i either lose a lot of weight or become sluggish depending on the kind of workout and diet. I really want to gain some muscle. What should i do?
Hello Dr. Halpern i recently discovered I have a vatta kapha dosha and while I have struggled with it because it is a bit more difficult to manage than the other dosha types IMO, i have learned to love the positive sides of my mind and body. Thanks for your information, it helped tons. I also wanted to ask you how would you manage a vatta kapha diet for a person trying to increase muscle mass :)
You mentioned warming colors in this talk to help balance a Vata-Kapha. I was wondering if you could expound on that more. Do I need to wear more "Autumn colors" or more "Spring" colors in the color analysis system?
I would think vibrant, spicy colors of the sun, of warmth, like spices he’s suggesting in eating with foods. Focus on red-orange-yellow spectrum, more Summer than Fall or even Spring...but Spring is close in vibrancy. I’m Vata-Kapha, and personally have always gravitated toward the full rainbow, also enjoying black, white, gray, and tan...all the colors, as long as they’re fully saturated, and not pastel, bland, muted, or neon. Think of the sun fully ripening anything in sight, until the saturation point to its full color potential. Full saturation, intensity, and vibrancy make me feel alive.
Exactly, for so long I was put into pita category. I found that my Vedic chart helped me a lot. Disagree in principle with a vegetarian diet. It was created to keep people in their own cast following their "Dharma -duty"
Thank you, would like to know about what kind of food good for Vata-kapha dosha people, you said cooked and spicy, but what kind of breakfast looks like or lunch or dinner, I am vegetarian. Does raw food agrivate, salads, vegies or better cooked?
We hope to be back to making content soon but we want to invite you to join us on July 9 for a free seminar with Dr. Halpern, Introduction to Ayurvedic Nutrition.
I am def. a vata kapha. I had cancer and lost my hormones. Dry skin, dry thinning hair, super stocky build (German heritage) with a endless running mind. I thrive in the heat.
I’m definitely Kapha-Vata but I always get too hot. I feel so much better when it’s cold. I can’t tolerate heat well. Spicy and warm foods are fine but always make me overheated. What am I supposed to do?
good evening, nice to meet you, sorry i'm french and i don't really no how to regul my thyroid ( i have an hypothyrody ) and i have lots of difficulty to find solutions : I have a hard time losing, I have acne, I am never hungry and especially not in the morning ... I was told that I am vata kapha and therefore I should eat at every meal .. I I am almost never hungry and I think that the intermittent young person could help me (loss of fact), loss of energy, depression, overweight, acne ... water retention, I do not know what to eat being these two doshas, I would like to get out of it. In addition to that problems joints, members who crack more this summer than during the previous season. thank you, help me I'm running in circles I can not stand it anymore! julia
I have a question. What if I have a Vata body, and Kapha features? Thick oily hair, big wet tongue, round eyes, sluggish digestion, cold. I also am underweight... So how do I balance that? I want to gain weight, but I don't want to aggravate Kapha.
Through That, maybe the mind is more kapha And vata ? Because I feel like my mind is offen active but ist in the ocean, as if a group of whales is singing, but it doesnt Comes more slowly/Hard in appearance
Very westernised. The focus on weight loss was a turn off. I'm a big guy, but I'm not trying to lose weight, and I feel like there's so much more to Ayurveda than someone's weight.
I don’t see it at all as being a superficial approach. He’s talking about how to take a proactive approach to balancing these somehow/ somewhat antagonizing energies, not only through diet and exercise, which is the basis of energy and for living for everyone, but on the necessity for structure and routines. These are a few basic guidelines on instructions for the self...to better understand how your body, as well as how your mind functions, which unfortunately isn’t offered in our Westernized culture. I very much appreciated his approach. Very educational.

I can relate to this also, I struggle with taking actions the most.

Do you treat a Vata Kapha nature the same way you would treat an individual with Vata dosha and a Kapha imbalance? Is it the same thing? Thank you.
Yeah I Wonder the same
