it is not that good interms of results but I blame the release date and the short time the company had to pull this off! if they had time, then this would have been even more exceptionally well
It still wonders me when i saw this scene in theatre. Man, i had no idea that this scene is gonna be a Single Shot lengthy Chase. Hats-off to the VFX Team for making this scene within limited time period.🎉

This was a great attempt, but the process of matching black values, was it something related to the budget of the sequence ? coz in many places the values were noticeably shifting
Hi, kudos to the whole team for an exceptional result. I have a question. One of you were hinting about the "out of memory" issues during rendering due to heavy textures, reflections etc. Can you educate us, the difference between the Hollywood CGI VFX shots Vs our Indian movies, whether is the budget playing a major role in bringing realism to the VFX shots or time factor or is it something else.

It's attempts like these that start to build conviction in film makers so they start to invest more time and effort with CGI. Of course the execution with this sequence is a bit of a let down but its suffice to say that it was a well attempted sequence. One of the major areas that CGI makers in our films dont quite nail is the camera design. CG cameras in most of our movies dont carry that heft and weight unlike real cameras and when blended with live action, the CG shots give it away. The same holds true to the animated objects. Notice the car crashes for instance in this movie, they fly off and crash like they are made of light weight materials. Here the crash sequences get sped up and coupled with the light weight feeling of the objects and camera, they start to look amateurish. In a comparable hollywood movie, such crashes would look noticeably realistic due to the heft and weight and the realistic damage models that get simulated; ultimately making the crash looking believable. Their CG cameras are mostly supervised by the same DOP who would sit along with the CG camera designer and develop a robust camera system that aligns well with their live action sequences. Lighting plays a crucial part too and we have enough advanced lighting techniques that achieve realism that even game engines like Unreal offer these days. Again we could resort to certain excuses like time/ budget but we have got to address the elephant in the room, that is 'Skill gap'. The more training and exposure our CG Artists and Devs get, the better the output, regardless of the time and budget. Most of us in the Anim, Gaming and VFX industry would have seen reels of individuals ( just their work) showing some colossal output. So its entirely possible with the right thought process and approach for a team to pull off believable CGI. Commendable work nevertheless by the PhantomFX team!
Parthiban is chasing them to save his son (expecting his son to be in one of those cars) and he crashes almost every car Lol 😅. Lokesh spoiled the entire second half with such illogical writing
As a CGI artist this car chase scn is always a wonder for me... If they got the enough time it would be a bench mark for indian movie vfx...
Someone had a same thought like me
But as a Cinephile Scene is well thought out but poorly executed. It's like something is very off here which can improve

Both budget and time are major factors bro. Time and money spend on a Hollywood film is much much higher than an Indian movie
