Most astounding tour, thank you. I wanted to see exactly these things after reading about it ( and seeing an image of one carving) in The London Review of Books Aug. 2024, article entitled "Diary" by Tom Johnson. The drama scenes are interesting also. But not all the visuals after around 6 minutes in the church? Curious about those. Then it's back to the church at about 10 minutes in? Will keep exploring this video, much to see. Again, thanks for showing the astounding stonework in detail. I mean, how much fun was that for the carvers to do?
Thank you for the comment: yes, that church is well worth visiting. The ancient Druidic font is fascinating. It was found not so long back whilst digging in the graveyard. The two dream sequences in the video are made up of many different clips from numerous sources: documentary’s, films etc… Thank you again for the comment. There is an interesting video on UA-cam about the church by the church warden who is also a local historian. I think the video is called the the Kilpeck Church film. Best
At 3:36 and 3:44 I feel those carvings almost have a modern cartoon look. I visited this church as my brother lived not far away but it's nice to see a video as it's hard to take all the detail in in one visit
What a lovely video. Kilpeck church has fascinated me since I read about it in the fiction novel All of a Winter's Night by Phil Rickman. The carvings are an absolute delight. I also enjoyed the other images of earlier civilisations and both pagan & old christian symbols. New subscriber here. :)
3:35 "I can't believe we're stuck in stone, Max. This is ridiculous." "Hey, at least we're not stuck in mud. That would really be a dirty situation." "Ha, very funny. You know, I always thought you were a little rock-headed." "Well, I prefer to think of myself as a little boulder than boring." "You're impossible. How are we ever going to get out of here?" "Oh, don't worry about it, Sam. We'll just wait for someone to come along and chisel us out of this mess." "Great, we're at the mercy of some random sculptor now." "Relax Sam, it's not like we're stuck between a rock and a hard place." "Ugh, I give up." "Hey, don't give up just yet, Sam. We can still have some fun while we're stuck here. In fact, I think I'm starting to feel a little stoned."
@@Wotsitorlabartit’s a Norman church build by a Norman lord in a general Norman way. What makes it interesting is the Celtic style knots, Sheela na gig and Celtic style heads. You can watch the video by the warden of the church who is a local historian who explains very clearly. It’s easy to find in you tube. But the carvings with celtic influence are actually quite obvious. The video is titled ‘the kilpeck church film’.
Totally fascinated with the mysterious stone carvings and the mysteries of Sheela Na Gig and the Greenman 🧐
It’s a fascinating church in many ways! Thanks for the comment.
Mythical footage draws one into with the tunes , as if gone into the past.Great effort and research Chris🙂🙏
Thanks for the encouraging comment Shanmuga!
Throughly enjoyed this. Love the mysterious symbols/stone cravings. Impressive doorway and entrance.
Cheers for the comment. Hope you’re feeling better?

I thought the exact same; especially on the dog and rabbit. They are all medieval though apparently. Have a great evening!
Wonderfully atmospheric. Well done on making this little masterpiece.
Thanks a lot for the positive comment!!! Appreciated!

@@sacredstone1481 Very welcome the first piece of music caught me .may i ask who is the Artist ? ,very moving the whole film thank you .
Does anyone think this church has a connection with Roslyn Chapel in Scotland.? I’m going to add the wee church to my list to visit. Thanks
Well there is the Templar Knights connection. I can thoroughly recommend visiting it.
Kilpeck church is Herefordshire and not Gloucestershire!
'Celtic' stonework?
Many Celtic knots and heads amongst the corbels and around the door
@@sacredstone1481
Perhaps, but 'Norman' or 'Romanesque' would be a more accurate description.
