Guaranteed he’s got more fans with the raunchy lyrics and good music (even if he is lampooning modern pop-country music, which I think is horrible ) than a comedy routine. David Allan Coe was basically the first to start it, well he was the one who got famous and made it to A list songs, And him Merle Haggard JC Waylon JP they all were basically outlaws and there was Willie Nelson too I'm missing some but basically this was a band of rebel outlaws who wanted to throw the "rules" of country music out cause it was pure bullshit people were slowing down listening to country because it wasn't really cool.

A lot of country fans think hes just making fun of country, that's what I thought in the beginning too. I personally hate country music so I appreciated that he was taking the piss out of it.
