Inspired by the future, cyberpunk, post-apocalyptic worlds, science fiction and technology, Paul Wardingham is known for creating his own unique genre of instrumental metal guitar music (future metal shred) with his critically acclaimed and highly influential debut solo album “Assimilate Regenerate” (2011)
Wardingham quickly gained a legion of fans from all over the world and received praise from guitar legends Dino Cazares (Fear Factory and Divine Heresy). Jeff Loomis (Nevermore) and Andy James, among others for his inspiring guitar work, impressive compositions and production.

My friend Olaf picked up all your albums for me last Christmas and even got you sign some of them and send some picks too. I was completely blown away. Can't thank him enough. Wanted to thank you too. That was awesome. You are one of my favorite modern shred guitarists. The scale choices, rhythms, and face-melting tech is out of this world. You are pushing the boundaries of what this instrument can do and I love it. :)

Damn, I just discovered 2 stellar players tonight, this guy and Angel Vivaldi.
I am 52 and I remember there was quite a bit of instrumental rock guitar back in the 80's.
Then came grunge of the 90's and lead guitar disappeared for a while, It slowly started working it's way back in. But still no instrumental players like Satriani, Vai, Yngwie .
Glad it's coming back around. It helps keep the standards for rock guitar high, and that is where they should always be
those 2 are amazing, check out buckethead, if these trees could talk, meridian, scale the summit... all great instrumetal bands :)

Found vivaldi last night, and paul today, it looks like they're getting accidental cross promotion because of youtube's algorithm. Both of them are awesome.
youtube is pretty sweet with grouping related artists. sad to say it's how i find most of my music now-a-days. check out Intervals too...that guy is an exceptional guitarist

I found Angel through Paul. Anyways I agree. If Angel and Paul united then instrumental music like this might actually became a fad and beyond. It's a rare thing to find such emotion in non lyrical music.

I think we should start a petition to have Paul take Jonas Kjellgren's place in Scar Symmetry or at the very least collaborate on a song or two. Seriously, these solos are exactly the kind of sound I would expect from their new Singularity trilogy.

Being able to come up with something like this, to be able to conceptualize a song, a theme, and then perform all the parts of it (virtually through the use of tools or otherwise, makes no matter) and have it be this creative and inspiring, that just blows my mind. I seriously don't know how you do it Paul. Can we trade brains for say a couple of months (and that badass 7-string... and your entire home studio for that matter)? I want to be able to do this!

guys take note, notice how he doesn't run into other strings while he plays. so many times I watch artists constantly being sloppy and hitting other strings on accident. this guy might be a robot.

Christophe Jergales It can be post processing. Anyway, this kind of playing sounds cold an robotic, as you say, and it's not a good thing for me. I rather a more organic and traditional playing than this piano like guitar playing style.
Christophe Jergales lol the tracks already been recorded, with a sound gate and everything this is just a play through on top of the audio. Think he's gonna show flaws ?

After watching 5 times it is still amazing. How long do I know you now - 5 or 6 years? Think I first stumbled across your stuff when you uploaded the attack of the Necromongers vid. And you just keep getting better and better. I hope you will be really successful with this album. The last one already pretty much spread the word all across the shred metal scene, and I'm sure this will be even better.

Haha, I think Paul is way out of my league. It would take ages for me to learn one of Pauls songs. + I don't have that much time anymore to practice hours a day like I used to some years back =). Damn social life!
Shred Metal is the best thing that happens on this kind of music! Many influences like jazz fusion, blues and classical music. Covers all the subgenres of metal on a new mechanic of composition, this subgenre defines at the real guitarist with skill and personality/style.
I hope that in the future someone decide do a documental of Shred Metal with interviews of Jeff Loomis, Stephan Forte, Jason Becker, Marty Friedman, Tosin Abasi, Ron Jarzombek, Andy James, Paul Wardingham, Michael Angelo, Tony Macalpine, Kiko Loureiro, Exivious, Angel Vivaldi, Intervals, Sleep Terror, Scale The Summit and many others!
