- Indian River County is now under a hurricane watch Monday as a major Category 5 Hurricane Milton churns toward Florida, where it's expected to make landfall along the west coast on Wednesday.

@@mchawk315 Same. I slept through Helene and almost every other hurricane before. I don't want to be awake for anything I can't fix. The only hurricane that really got to me was Charlie, that's because I was overseas. I couldn't get a hold of my family, to include my daughter. I stressed for over a week waiting.

The problem is most gas stations are out of order. Most elderly cant get out .

I been on the motorcycle going 115 mph hour and everting was a blur 180 mph not much will stand.
180mph will move loose items over 100yds in 1 second. The human body can not protect itself from a blade of grass at that pace.
But his graph shows when it hits land it will be about 125 mph , if he’s correct.
This definitely is not a storm to take lightly. ❤🙏😇Prayers are needed.

The majority of the models actually show the track to the south of Tampa Bay, but the NWS put some English on the track line and moved it north with some deliberation. They feel the northward push will result from interaction with wind shear, and that will cut the strength of the storm at landfall. This depends on the timing of a predicted drop in a west flowing stream across the central US. Timing measured in hours literally, because the model changes very rapidly when this shear interacts.
The whole state of Florida is going to look like the Florida keys, just a string of islands. It will be nice after they build the bridges.
Willing to bet it's gonna be the strongest hurricane to make landfall in history. Conditions are too favorable and the temps in the Gulf are astronomical...

Remember that many have been pulled away by the previous storm. You want to try to not need them and to try to not have your neighbor need them. This means get out or make sure you have supplies for several days without power.

If it delays, the storm will move more south, the front to the north will be more south by the time Milton gets to Florida, if the storm moves quicker than it will move more north then the front catches it sooner.

I don’t recall ever seeing a hurricane cross the state and remain at hurricane strength as it travels inland exiting the east coast still as a hurricane.

Shearing winds literally cut the top off the hurricane cloud, this shuts down the rotation from inside the storm. They will break up the eyewall very quickly and effectively, even in a very large hurricane.
