Muse Soldier's poem with lyrics Album: Black Holes and Revelations i will take any request for a lyrics video for any muse song :) if you want me to do one just ask :D
This song is so beautiful and evocative... it has bits and pieces of "Can't Help Falling in Love With You" by Elvis, "Everybody Hurts" by R.E.M., and "Ave Maria" by Schubert.
Sto piangendo e non so perché, o forse sì... La musica è questa, la musica è emozione. Adoro questo pezzo e adoro i Muse. Ci sono tanti gruppi in circolazione, ma nessuno riesce ad emozionarmi così. Non smetterò mai di ascoltare i Muse, che grandi!
You don't realize the emotion this song can bring someone in this situation or their families. They can relate to it, so Muse obviously know what they're doing. >_
"Do you think you deserve your freedom?" This line is so important. The western world, referred to as the "free world" seems to be the cause of all terrible things happening in the East and the rest of the world. Not only wars (Afghanistan, Vietnam etc) but also our wealth. The only way our western standards are sustainable is to maintain poverty in the rest of the world. We are responsible for child labor, hunger, but most importantly global warming. And geographically we're lucky enough to be the last ones who experience the results of our gas pollution, meat consumption and all together simply reckless way to live. Do we deserve to be free when it basically means we enslave other people? Do we deserve to be free when we destroy the lives of the Unfree?
Everytime I hear this song, I smile, then I laugh and I can't help laughing, because there's no justice in the world and there never was and it's so true....
Because its essentially an interlude into Invincible. And City of Delusion, Hoodoo, and Knights of Cydonia all have the spaghetti western movie tone, as if it were all one grand act. With Knights of Cydonia being the last one bringing in the electronic elements to give it the steam punk tone since the album cover is supposed to be Mars.
Absolutely amazing song. It's so annoying when people are against Muse and say it's because they are too electric and techno -- I always show those people this song to prove them wrong! Soldier's Poem is proof of Muse's amazing talent; their ability to make awesome out of such simple tunes. And they're English!
I think it's about the thoughts of a soldier who has been to war.. Coming back and seeing people who just say "its a shame" but do nothing about it.. and do they really think they "deserve their freedom" when they know it's wrong to send someone away from home to fight, but then complain about war. Basically that people will complain about the violent things that happen at war, but will still happily send soldiers away to lay down their lives for them, if it's to protect their own freedom.
I think in this case this song/poem has one meaning, I think it's directed to his government. Some songwriters however write lyrics to be more open to interpretation so the listener will connect with the song more personally.
I don't think you understand the perspective of the lyrics. It's from the point of view of soldiers who are dissatisfied with their governments motives for sending them to war, as well as the animosity that arises when they see jackoffs in the country they are putting their lives on the line for. Unless you do understand the perspective, in which case this is simple a difference of opinion.
@@AstroRex I was asking the same thing.I mean, what he says it's true, but whom he say these things? Unless, there was another person commenting, maybe some stupid things, and this person, erased his ( her comment ).I've seen this situation, many times, that's why is so confusing.
Nothing ever only has one meaning. A song, or a peice of literature can bring light to an almost irrelevant subject (to the one that the author/artist was writing about) for an individual, if they so choose to 'see the peice' or 'understand' it in that way. So really, you shouldn't get too worked up about another person's opinion - you should be grateful that they have it and that they've shared it with you, because you probably wouldn't have looked at it in their way!
Yes, it looks a lot like a Queen song but Muse have something difficult to explain.....I loved every single note of Queen but they were very pop, Muse are rock and the texts sometimes are very deep.
@narutorox85 Well that's your opinion, and I must respect it. But I think a song doesn't need complex lyrics to transmit a complex and deep message. Besides, most Muse songs aren't as "simple" as this one. This is a nice song that shows how Muse can be versatile.
I think its about people who don't appreciate the military and people that protest war - "you think you deserve your freedom"; because the same people take the freedom that has been paid for in blood by soldiers and use it against them - doing things they would surely be executed for under dictatorships. A song about the cost of freedom.
I'm new to Muse and as much as I love their music, their lyrics are surprisingly brilliant. Also, as an American, I think this message is right on. I really wish someone would make Bush, Blair and Brown listen to this and Take a Bow.
im pretty sure only you don't understand about the lyrics. Cause im pretty sure everyone else does. If you want me to explain the meaning to the lyrics reply to this comment.
@narutorox85 No, it isn't. Now you're just trying to insult me. Someone is pretentious when they consider themselves superior to others. I am not pretentious. I believe Muse has left a message in this song, and I'm sharing my opinion on it, telling you how I understand the lyrics. You, on the other hand, have been criticizing and attacking anyone who has a different opinion. Now who is being arrogant and pretentious? (not finished yet)
@shelbybelby1214 I hate it when /people/ try to talk about shite they don't understand. Mind you, I was over in Iraq when the shite hit the fan; this song is hauntingly appropriate.
@narutorox85 I don't agree with you. The lyrics have emotion, if you understand them. "Let's lose ourselves, cause there's no one left for us to blame. It's a shame we're all dying." The person who is saying this is obviously frustrated because he/she couldn't achieve his/her goals. But this is also a bit ironic, because he/she doesn't like the fact that people are dying, but, still, didn't do anything about it.
@narutorox85 (continuing) You may think these lyrics are too flat and cliche, and have no deep meaning, but maybe that's because you didn't bother to pay attention and try a little harder in order to find a more complex message. You have your opinion, and I respect it. So I think you should do the same.
"And do you think you deserve your freedom?", "There's no justice in the world, and there never was." Now the person is telling someone else that it was their fault as well, and so they didn't deserve forgiveness. Maybe this second person achieved freedom, which would anger the first person and make him/her say that there was no justice in the world. This is how I understand the song :)
@musesince1994 I guess self-restraint is out of the question... the alleged dick is not making shit remarks. He made them 6 months ago and is sick of people replying without any substance in their arguments.
@narutorox85 Then bring a dictionary and transcribe the definition! Actually don't, I'm tired of this pointless talk. We're arguing about the definition of the word "pretentious", instead of enjoying this song. I won't bother responding to you any more than what I've already done.
@MegRS95 I've never seen someone write so much and say so little. You're obviously blindly immersed in your own wrong opinions, so I'm not even going to bother except to say that is not what pretentious means.
@MegRS95 Meaning doesn't equal emotion and depth. And don't patronize me with "if you understand them." I understand them. One of the problems is that the lyrics are so simple and cliche that it doesn't take any intelligence to understand it.
Yet it does only have one meaning. When an author writes something they are only thinking of one concept. Thus there is one Interpretation and multiple applications of a concept. We shouldn't allow everyone to make up their own meaning and bastardize the intended meaning.
@narutorox85 I honestly don't know what your problem is. We all think Muse is a great band, and you (obviously) don't. So stay the crap off of Muse's music. If you don't like it, you can go listen to Justin Bieber and play Pokemon alone. If people like you wouldn't provoke others on an artists music, then UA-cam would be a better site to come to. But you can't seem to respect the fact that we like our music, and you like your music. So leave Muse alone, and enjoy fighting that wild Pokemon.
@jtj39 So your argument is that you don't need an argument. In that case, why bother replying to my comment? I'm not going to agree with you, so to bring up such a stupid point is just an exercise in self-validation.
@jtj39 You've got to be deaf if you think this has any emotion. The lyrics are so flat! And the vocals! So boring and they lack any conviction, any emotion. I like Muse, but this is definitely nothing more than a filler song.
I've just discovered this song for the first time. I Just don't have even words...this is absolutely treasure
matthew bellamy has an angel like voice....i love it.
This song is so beautiful and evocative... it has bits and pieces of "Can't Help Falling in Love With You" by Elvis, "Everybody Hurts" by R.E.M., and "Ave Maria" by Schubert.
This is the best song I have ever listened to. I love it unconditionally. It has soo much meaning.
the beat totally reminds me of Elvis Presley's "Can't Help Falling In Love With You" and i love it xD
I have always thought like that too 😊❤✌
AyoItsAbi me tooooo !! Haha
Sto piangendo e non so perché, o forse sì...

"far away from home" really hit me hard like it it shot me in the heart

Why does it have to be so short? :(
because there's no justice in the world and there never was
+Musicistwowords Mu good one hahaha

This song is really beautiful and sad.

Truly...there is no justice in the world
this song goes by so fast
What an uplifting cheerfull song lol.
Wow, no emotion? You are insane! This is definitely one of their most emotionally involved songs ever.
I think in this case this song/poem has one meaning, I think it's directed to his government. Some songwriters however write lyrics to be more open to interpretation so the listener will connect with the song more personally.

Are you arguing with yourself?
I approve 👍👍
I agree... The Nazis and now Putins soldiers.

I've been listening this to months now on a burned muse CD in my car. Not knowing the name. Just knowing it was track five and it's the best. ❤
This reminds me of The Things They Carried. People need to think before they send their children off to war.
People don't send their children off to war, in America anyway. Grown men either sign up for military service, voluntarily, or they skip it.
If you consider freedom of interpretation to be a terrible thing, then music is not something that you should even have an interest in, my friend!
Perfect song for the Russian soldiers who don't want to be in Ukraine. 🇺🇦 Prayers for Ukraine and the Russians who see the truth. 🙏
@narutorox85 some people feel a deep connection to certain songs, so even if you don't feel that way about a song, someone else probably does.
my mum loves this and she is 77 :)
does the harmony at the end remind anybody else of Queen?
Thanks for this!
como amo esta cancion
The song may be a little on the pretentious side, but I love the melody. It's so soothing.
❤❤ Matt's voice ❤❤

Not too shabby, although the lyrics pop up a bit late on each screen when trying to do a late night drunken karaoke sesh ;)
I've lost Marines in combat and this song depresses the shit out of me.
I love this song and particulary when "Chris??" sing
beautiful.i think it reminds me love tender by elvis
This song remembers me to christmas

That song make me kinda sad. Looking like they tell the world what was the army.

@MegRS95 Finding complex, deep meanings from simple, cliche lyrics is the definition of pretentious.
Actually this is the only song from muse that i dont like :l
