My son was at a Mariposa Songwriters workshop maybe 7 years ago - he was about 15 at the time. Jim Cuddy was there as a guest performer/lecturer. My son said that Jim was so kind, and helpful, and inspirational to him. If I ever see Jim on the streets on TO, I'll be thanking him. My kid is a working musician, singer, songwriter now. :)
How can one man's voice and band give you shivers, lighten, brighten enlarge your heart while bring you to the warmest safest place in the universe?? ❤️ Thank you Blue Rodeo! You are a blessing and national treasure for every Canadian worldwide!
Oh, My, most singers would have cut out, but this Jim Cuddy guy just keeps bringing it. Amazing. Love this guy. I remember him doing another wonderful tune, I think it was, Bad Timing - he just delivers like no other. Blue Rodeo is one of the best bands ever to grace this Earth.
Defiantly a favorite. I think this piece strikes the heart and soul of all Canadians and many other fans around the world. This concert however is very good and the rest of it, fantastic and addictive to experience. CBCRadio3, well done and appreciated.
This song is such a classic, and this version of it is a clinic in singing and performing live. No disrespect but these guys are my favourite Canadian band.
I'll have Crown Royal from Manitoba... And we'll get together and have ourselves a drink and sing their wonderful hits...lol. Infact let's make a weekend out of it.
Canadian Rock... Rocks !!! I thank people around me when growing up... American is good... But Canadian just has these roots and tones and words... Bryan Adams Tragically Hip... Sarah McLaughlin Great Big Sea Spirit of the West... It just keeps going on and on. Bachman Turner Overdrive
"Try"---iconic piece---the while world lives this Catchy tune...everyone knows the lyrics. As a born and breed Canadian gal ,we're so proud of our Blue Rodeo fellows for many amazing years Of gracing the Canadian public /world with your Dedication charismatic songs. 💜💜💜💜
if i was the one who was able to steal her heart, then i'd be the happiest thief in the world.. maybe also because i was the first one to see her and plan my escape with the jewel that she is before anyone else ever saw that she was so beautiful and also worth her weight in diamonds... sorry, as for the song, it's basically the one that put Blue Rodeo on the path of true success and the song TRY has been in my top 5 since it came out. just a beautiful song....
My wife and I were talking about Blue Rodeo at lunch as we live in the state of Maryland. Sadly, I believe Blue Rodeo failed in the US, so sad. We learned of Blue Rodeo and other Canadian singer/songwriters due to listening to CBC Radio 2. Some how, the LPs like Casino and Five Days In May came up in talking today, as my wife said that Try was from their first LP as we do not have the first LP which I would think is on CD now. She said that Tom Powell of CBC, who I believe who got a degree in folk art, said he went to a Catholic school. And they did dances at the school, as Try by Blue Rodeo would be played. Tom said on the air at CBC that the Nuns said at the dance to all the couples that you have to leave room between you for the Holy Ghost, since the song, Try, is very romantic and the Nuns did not want anyone while dancing to Try something with their dance partner. Yikes.
Dear Jim, your voice is better than ever, seriously! I hope to make it to see you on Thursday ☺️ there was a problem with my ticket, so hopefully it can get sorted out! 🤞
not to take away from the amazing vocals, but for me probably the best part of the song is when they switch up the Leslie in the middle of the organ solo. the electric organ is such a soft instrument but it absolutely packs a punch and it adds so much depth to their music.
EVERY DAMNED SONG!!! DAMN you guys!! I don't know if I should laugh cry or sigh orrrrr ,..by the way,...at The KEE TO BALA,I did ALL of the above!! ......I THANK YOU!
mabe real guy knew godess wispering to vision of godess in hard time.i loved this song sooo much, for north american friends!thank you love you must knock the door of cbs music, there arenot polorbeer out side,if its mynous 40degree sascouhwan, wait?.you have another wonderful song warm this winter!hehehe
if i was the one able to steal her heart then i'd be the happiest thief ever. maybe ebcause i was the very first one to see her and plan my escape with the goods before anyone else ever saw the girl was worth her weight in diamondsi just took.
Rob baby, everytime you walk in the room.. I fall more in love with than I did before... Your eyes...your smile have me bewitched..... I want you in a way that I never have wanted a man in my entire life... Everytime you walk in the room..I fall in love 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
Robert..I'm falling in love night after night after night...you my bella boo.... Everytime time you walk in the room I go crazy for you.. I watch every move that you make... I'm falling in love.....💜
Jim Cuddy’s commentary on this song is more about the falsetto than what or who it is actually about. He makes the lyrics sound contrived, something dramatic he could build a song around that lends itself to the use of falsetto. Which makes the whole thing pretty shallow.
Robert m You have been off your phone for just about 7 days and don't you dare expect me to understand why you never let me know that you were okay because I wont accept your excuses.... Everytime you walk in the room.... I'm falling in love with you Monty... Oh ..so many people have said that you are a shining star and I am falling in love night after night.... Oh yeah you have got to try...... Monty you wont see this song or my messages for who knows when???? You make me cry, not concentrate but then what the hell do you care? Baa Xoxoxo ❤🥰❤ See this whenever the hell you do
+Mr MC It is not trolling to speak one's opinion. I think that mentioning any singer in the same breath as Burton Cummings is a huge compliment, and Blue Rodeo is currently my favourite band in the world, so I have no intent to troll anybody.
+gvbezoff why not embrace your inner troll? the fact you are a troll is not subject to self appraisal. No one cares that you disagree. stfu and post your tripe on another singer's boot licking blog. No one is capable of ranking singer's because it is subjective. I can't stand David Clayton Thomas for one.
Ok....apparently it's NOT A-E-D-C#m-F#m, nor is it cappo'd sooooo...Thanks for making me try...try...still...again lol... It should be "you never play the same chords the same" ;-) ....I'll get it Jim, I'll get it lol...LOVE the song...so I'll keep trying :-)
Bryan Adams is a doosh. I don't care if he has a pitted face, but it's his music which is horrible contrived pop music intentionally made for the purpose of record sales and consumption rather than art.

Outstanding. Seeing them in 8 days for the 8th time. First time i saw them was in 1994. They're like a fine wine.
Time we hold them on the same pedestal as The Hip. Total ambassadors of Canadian music.
Blue Rodeo = 10 / 10 ... That said; The Hip = 100 / 10 --- Thanx!
WOW he sings this just as well as he did in the 80s!! What a great Singer :) So Talented!!
I absolutely love that Glenn is singing along in the background.❤
Oh, My, most singers would have cut out, but this Jim Cuddy guy just keeps bringing it. Amazing. Love this guy. I remember him doing another wonderful tune, I think it was, Bad Timing - he just delivers like no other. Blue Rodeo is one of the best bands ever to grace this Earth.

Ten years later this song still personifies defiance.
Absolutely Jim, wow man what a voice what a song, love it!!
We're all getting old, but you still sound awesome! Lol ! 👍
Hard to believe this was released almost 24 years ago...it stands the test of time! Great tune to strum along to!
This was released in 1987; that and "The Princess Bride" are my favourite memories of that fall.
Simply magnificent
This song is such a classic, and this version of it is a clinic in singing and performing live. No disrespect but these guys are my favourite Canadian band.

I get Crowded House vibes 😌. I imagine Neil Finn singing this.
Great 👍 singing from Jim Cuddy.

What a wonderful voice! And simply a great band.
Yes ... Totally agree ... And the other singer as well ... This was the first song that got me started with them.
The singer still looks so good
if i was the one who was able to steal her heart, then i'd be the happiest thief in the world.. maybe also because i was the first one to see her and plan my escape with the jewel that she is before anyone else ever saw that she was so beautiful and also worth her weight in diamonds... sorry, as for the song, it's basically the one that put Blue Rodeo on the path of true success and the song TRY has been in my top 5 since it came out. just a beautiful song....

Basil Donovan is the most underrated bassist. He always lays down perfect bass lines.

Jim Cuddy’s commentary on this song is more about the falsetto than what or who it is actually about. He makes the lyrics sound contrived, something dramatic he could build a song around that lends itself to the use of falsetto. Which makes the whole thing pretty shallow.

Yeah, Jim Cuddy is great, but Burton Cummings and David Clayton-Thomas, to name just two, are better.
***** troll
