- How to Practice Scales with the Metronome. This is a guitar lesson for all levels of guitar playing. I first learned this way of practicing with classical guitar technique from studying Aaron Shearer's scale pattern book. This guitar video utilizes 8th, Triplet, and 16th notes to gain control and speed of your scales, and overall your guitar playing.

Can’t help but notice the Schecter C1 plus in red, first on the left behind you. I’ve got one, 2006 model maybe, freaking love that guitar.
Awesome! Yeah it’s easy to play. Has a shorter scale length then most guitars.
Love incorporating different notes into scales. Doing Triplets is actually kinda fun.
💯
Great lesson.....I needed to see this because I am at a loss with what to do with my metronome but I have noticed that not long after practicing a scale it sounds much more fluid and not as chop. Thank for taking your time to create this video, it sure is helping me!
Thank you! Glad to hear it helps.

😥 P r o m o s m!
i still dont get it. lol
I’ll have more vids on this.
1. Pick a scale. He’s using C Major.
2. Metronome on.
3. Play scale ascending and descending with eighths, or two notes between each click of metronome.
4. Play scale ascending and descending with triplets, or three notes between each click of metronome.
5. Play scale ascending and descending with sixteenths, or 4 notes between each click of the metronome.
That’s the lesson. Notes should be evenly spaced. In part one he saying play the eighth, triplet, or sixteenth for each individual note. So if you start on C you play it twice for the eight, three times for triplet, and 4 times for 16th. Move to the next note and repeat. Part two is, play each individual note in the scale with the same timing. So in C with eights you play C and then D onwards instead of C C D D , etc.
